  • @luminitia12 the reply's correct. thank you--> 감사합니다 or 고맙습니다. these two are used to those older than you. if you'd like to know what to say to those younger than you or same age, just ask me.

and happy birthday is yup, 생일 축하합니다 for those older than you.

  • How do you say Shut Up? Lol thankss

  • @KittyCuteThing you can say 닥쳐 (dak-chyeo). Make sure not to say this to someone older than you and you're ready to get in a fight =))

  • @ukulthum you can say 어떡해요? (eotteokhaeyo) or 어떡하죠? (eotteokhajyo). keep in mind this is the polite way of saying it. meaning, this is what you say to those older than you.

  • how do you say alyssa

  • @reborndoll100 well, you'd pretty much say it the same way in korean, but if you'd like to know how to write it, it's like this: 알리사 (allisa) or 앨리사 (aellisa). depending on your accent and how you want it to be pronounced

  • @caldevera thanks

  • Can you explain when 나, 저 is used? 갑사합니다

  • @junetiny both mean "I" or "Me". 나 is the impolite way of saying it. Use this only with close friends, people younger than you or people of the same age. you use this in 반말, which is impolite speech. 저 is the polite way of saying I or Me. Use this to people older than you, people of higher authority etc. Take note, 나 become 내가 when it's a subject, 나는 when "topic". 저 becomes 제가 when subject, 저는 when topic. You'll learn all this when you learn korean grammar. Hope I helped :D

  • how do u say? "But I dont know her" and "But I dont know him" plz hurry =)

  • @andoger1 There is a word for "her" and "him" in korean, but these pronouns are not commonly used. you may just say, "근데 그 사람을 몰라요.." which literally means, "But I do not know that person". BTW, he= 그 and she = 그녀, but as i said, not commonly used. Hope I helped :D

  • May I know what is the Korean word for I, You, He, She, We, They and so on? I got confuse cause sometimes I in Korean is na, nan etc

  • @aliapower I- 나 (casual) 저 (formal) * pls take note, the spelling changes when used as subject or possessive* --> ex, 나---> 내가 저---->제가

You- 너 (casual) *becomes 네가 (pronounced as niga) when used as a subject. When speaking politely, to someone older than you, you just use their name and the appropriate title. Ex. 현우형 hyunwoohyung.

He- 그 not often used though

    She- 그녀

    We- 우리 (casual) 저희들 (formal)

They- 그들 not often used though

    Hope I helped :D

  • @aliapower just remember, when the subject of the sentence can be implied, you can just leave it out of the sentence :D

  • hi ya could you tell me how to say "im starting to learn korean in korean?" thank u so much

  • hi can u kindly help me translate ' im worried about you being without me' and 'how are you doing in singapore?'. much appreciated.

An yong ha sey oh?? the other question is.... how to say (Yes) in Korean? in English it sounds like people are saying... Naaaa just like the sound of a horse! is Na the right wat to say hello? Thankyou.

  • @kolobos2000 안녕 annyeong is how to say Hi to close friends, to someone younger than you or to someone of the same age. 안녕하세요 annyeonghaseyo is how to say Hi to those older than you, people you've met for the first time etc. To be say, just say annyeonghaseyo, sine this is the polite way.

Yes in Korean is 네 Ne or 예 Ye in Polite Korean. With close friends and those younger than you or same age, you can say 어 eo or 응 eung. Hope I helped.

PS. I'm pretty sure Na is not the way to say hello.

  • thanks for the vuleentering :D:D

I love it.) 1) How do you write it in original Korean alphabets and Kanji (Chinese characters), please? 2) How many Korean dialects are there being spoken in both North and South Koreas (now)? • @Dijann94 감사합니다 or 고맙습니다--> that's the polite way. To close friends, those younger than you or same age, you can just say 감사해요 or 고마워요.

  • One of the things English-speakers most struggle with in Korean is distinguishing regular consonants from the tense ones (ㄲ, ㄸ, ㅃ, ㅆ, and ㅉ) since they sound to us exactly the same! Does anyone know of any practice drills to help with these?

  • 이거 한국어로 뭐라고 해요?

"As many times as I blink I'll think of you tonight."

  • @gabbers2532 To literally translate it in polite language, it would be "오늘밤, 눈을 깜빡이는 만큼 자주 [name] 씨 생각할 거예요."

  • @gabbers2532 That's Owl City's Vanilla twilight! Awesome!

  • 안녕하세요! 오랜만이에요. 또 물어보고 싶은 질문이 있느데요, 「ノリのいい曲」가 한국말로 뭐라고 해요? 열심히 여러 가지 사이트나 사전을 통해서 찾으려고 했는데, 아무래도 못 찾겠어요. 좀 도와 주세요. 감사합니다!

  • hi, i'm from singapore and i'm currently learning Hangyl but i don't know how to ask this question in korean could you help me out here?

Qn: "Teacher, Would you like to join us for dinner on saturday evening at a korean restaurant? It'll be an honor if you could join us, you'll love the food there"

  • what's the meaning of 앉게?

or something similar to that spelling?

i heard it from a drama. it was a elder saying it to a junior. does it just mean "sit"?

  • why do some sentences end with 음?

    what does it mean?

for eg 건물에는 접대실과 대기실 있음.

shouldn't it be 있습니다? or at least 있다?

  • @hitmonlee00 if i'm not mistaken, it's just a way some people write on the internet. and yes, it is just 있습니다/있다. ex. would be 사랑하다 becomes 사랑함 and 먹다 becomes 먹음. I have no idea why they do that =))

  • what does eopsseo mean? I've heard it in alot of korean songs and I wanted to know what it means. thanks ^^

  • "eopsseo" as in "없어"?

it comes from the infinitive "없다," which means "not to exist," so "없어" in varied situations can mean "__ isn't there," "s.o. doesn't have ____," etc

    =]

  • (to add on to gyoshilxxidea)

let me give you some examples:

"doni eopseoyo" (by the way there's only 1 s) means "have no money"

"shikani eopseoyo" "no time (left)" (the 'left' is implied)

    "jashiki eopseoyo" "have no children"

  • How does one say "Welcome back!!"

  • if its a junior greeting a senior coming home, it should be 다녀왔습니다

  • thanks a lot.

  • hey i have a question.

i know what 선배 and 후배 means. But what does 선후배 means? i've always been curious about this.

    Thank you !

  • 선후배 is just a combination of those two words :) 선배 & 후배 :)

  • @ever4one yes,it's a combination of those words,i know . The thing is that i don't know it's meaning.

Are you saying that 선후배 means 선배 + 후배 (the sunbaes and the hoobaes)??

so from now on, when i want to say " 선배 와 후배" , i could simply just say "선후배" ,is that correct?

  • you can use 선후배 to either talk about both seniors and juniors in one combined word, or talk about the anything between seniors and juniors

eg: 선후배가 한자리에 모였다 The older and the younger students have gathered around in one place 한국 사회에서는 선후배 관계가 매우 중요하다

The senior-junior relationship is very important in Korean society.

  • @hitmonlee00

thank you so much for the detailed response :D

i wish i could help you on the "있음" issue in return, but unfortunately i have no ideea. I'm curious about that as well.

  • Hyunwoo oppa! Ahnyonghaseyo! Can you make a video saying this sentences? I'd really love to learn the korean language! Kamsamnida oppa! :D

    2. Please to meet you.

    3. I want to visit Korea (Seoul).

    4. I am from a foreign country (Philippines).

    5. I would like to learn the Korean language.

    6. Can you teach me how to speak korean?

    7. Thank you very much! See you.

  • : ) Hi. sure :) I will do that soon :)

  • kamsamnida oppa! :D

  • How do you say what do I do in korean please ^^

  • O to kajjo?

  • "What do I do?" in Korean is, "어떡하죠? eo tteok hajyo?" just like "moststupid" wrote :)

  • Thank you ^^

  • @ShinjuRin86 lol, you're like the third person to ask that =)) just say 어떡해요 or 어떡하죠.

  • heyy hyunwoo!do i have to add -oppa??lollolx

heeh I think I just have a very simple question, Can I just ask how do you know when to use ㄱ /ㄲ ㅂ/ㅃ , those ㅉㅆ double thingy whn u're writing a word?

*I'm sorry if you do not understand my question =/*kkkk; thankyou.x

  • just like when learning the spelling of english words, you just have to memorize it. however, you should be able to tell by the sound of the consonant. if it's especially strong, it may be a double consonant.

  • Comment removed

  • hi i have a question here, it's not got to do with "how do i say this in korean" per se

i was wondering, how do you spell out a korean word?

for example, to spell the word 'apple' in english, we would say "ay pee pee elle ee"

and for boy we would say "bee oh why"

how is that done in the korean language?

  • Annyong again Hyunwoo oppa ^^ !

Could you please tell me the translation of "have fun" in Korean? Komawayo!!

  • How do you say "What to do?" in Korean?

I've been hearing this in the Korean drama a lot, but I don't know how to say it lol

Oh and how do you write "What to do" in Korean?

    :)

  • Or "What can I do"

    yeah...lol

  • if i'm not wrong it should be '어쩌죠?' (eo jjeo jyo)

but i think it's a feminine phrase as i only hear female characters say it.

    maybe guys can say '어떡해요?'

  • what's the difference between hamnida and habshida?

  • "hamnida" is "I do" and "hapsida" is "Let's do."

  • thanks =)

    another question here haha..

i notice that "i do" can also either of these

    ~해요

    ~하고

    ~하다

    ~한다

    ~한다고

am i correct in saying that all these also mean "i do" ?

if yes, what are the differences in usage?

  • someone pls answer my question as well :D

  • how do u say, "my name is"

  • @Pangsta763

    내 이름은...

  • 제 이름은 (name)입니다 (more formal)

or 내 이름은 (name)이에요 (less formal)

(note that names ending with vowel sounds are attached to "예요" instead of "이에요," which is for names that end with consonant sounds)

    ex:

    제 이름은 철수입니다.

    내 이름은 정아예요.

    내 이름은 경림이에요.

  • How do you say "i love u" and "i love you too" in korean, and also "happy birthday"?

  • @Sya93im

    i love you ->사랑해요!

i love you too -> 나도 사랑해요!

    happy birthday -> 생일 축하해요!

  • how do i say 'what is this' and 'how much does it cost'

  • @ihatemyscreenname123

    what is this? -> 이게뭐예요?

how much does it cost? -> 이게얼마예요?

  • what's the difference between 이게 and 이거 ?

  • can someone PLEASE tell me about this structure?

    [으]ㄹ 거라고 (해요)

    what does it mean?

For example,i have these 2 sentences.

    1. 안 할거예요.

    2. 안 할거라고요.

what's the difference between the two?

    thank you so much :D.

  • (으)ㄹ 거라고 (해요) is quoted speech (when the person's speech was in the future tense).

Assuming your example sentences are from the first person perspective, #1 is saying, "I'm not going to do it"

and #2 is saying, "I said/told you I'm not going to do it."

If the person who's being quoted is "he," for example, then it would be "He said he's not going to do it."

    Do you get it? =]
