@Jakeman21642 A major exaggeration. ANY engine is prone to failure if maintenance is ignored, some more so than other. Change the oil in standard intervals and maintain your fuel system and sludge won't be an issue. Do you know how poorly most people maintain their cars?
@Jakeman21642, i have an 02 with the 2.7 and it is rock solid, the only issue ive had is the standard water pump issue. u have no clue bout engines sir. this motor is a rock, if you maintain it. just like everybody else says. cant stress that enough, take care of your motors!!
All you guys bitching about the 2.7 engine need to stfu. I'm 16 and I got a 2002 Chrysler Sebring LXi with black leather seats, chrome rims, and a woodgrain dash. I've had no problems with it and it has 154,000 miles. All you have to do is get the oiled changed when it needs to be and take car of the rest of the car. It's my first car and I'm glad I got it.
i have one i have 97k miles on it and had to replace the water pump because of a cold winter freeze i hope it doesnt die on me like all these comments say im selling it this year
Hey guys take a close look under the hood. Now look for the battery. Thats right you can't see it. What you have to do is take off the left front tire and you'll see an access door for the battery. From there you'll have to pry off the pastic cover to get access to it. What an inconvient location.
The 2.7 isn't that great of an engine but with a bit of maintainance it will run just fine. People are just too "busy" these days going to Yoga and to Wal-Mart that a simple oil change is beyond the scope of their sophisticated busy lives.
I think the problems with the 2.7 are overblown, as it will last as long as you know how to maintain it properly. The problems with the 2.7 start and end with the water pump, which needs to be replaced at no later than 80,000 miles. Replace the timing chain tensioner with the revised one put out by Chrysler, and replace the PCV every three years. Follow those three steps and you will have nothing to worry about.
@TheNostalgiaSpot you've nailed it bang on.... oil pressure switches go bad to... but those are $20 bucks and dont really affect the way the motor runs. it just triggers low oil pressure light.
i love the 2.7 a very ballsy little 6 cylinder and consitering that almost everybody but me doesent maintain their car for shit...caugh caugh... oil changes....caugh caugh.....yea people have sludge problems with them but still amazing that such a small displacement engine pulls off the kind of power that it does...if you use synthetic oil you never get sludge buildup in the first place
the 2.7 V6 is really proven to last only like 80-100,000 miles.. sludge problems ya know? Chrysler says they fixed it but people still have problems... gotta get the bulletproof 3.5 V6 if your getting a V6.. I have the 3.5 in my LHS... amazing engine.
I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring LX. I bought it with 82,000km 2 years ago it now has 130,000km. I have not had one problem with mine. Just regular oil changes.
lol i'm surprised them ac nobs didnt break when you turned them that fast, Chrysler plastics are cheap, we had to replace our ac nobs twice in our Sebring from turning them too fast
I hope you're aware that revving a cold engine is BAD VERY BAD! revving a cold engine causes friction wear on the cylinder walls piston rings and pistons. and the way you gun and break is hard on the car also! i wouldn't buy a car from your lot!
Absolutly not you fucking pedophille. you ass hole rapist. suck your grandpas cock. dont you ever try to flirt with my damn daughter ever EVER AGAIN. you here me two face fucking basterd. im watching you in a little camera accross the room..

everyone is right. I just looked on a Chrysler repair website and it states that the Chrysler 2.7 lifespan on average is 30-70,000 miles without serious issues. this appears to be a pretty nice vehicle overall though.
@LarryDavidFreak The only real problems with the engine were in the intrepid which that poor lil engine should have never had to pull around yes the engine didnt have the best design but its not like the trep helped any
@FantomLightning that is a great engine when it is properly maintenanced, but like most people, getting an oil change is not thier top priority and dont understand how important it is.
@LarryDavidFreak i heard the 2.7L go bad is because people dont change the oil as frequently as they should, also the timing belt and WATER PUMP need changed frequently too, this is the major causes. chrysler does suck badly.
@havinthangs55 yeah I know it is lol, I was like aww, people are going to comment this so much saying that when I saw the engine. our other sebring is a 4 cyl, but this one was in nicer shape and just overall looks better so I did the vid on this one.
The 2.7L V6 in these cars is bad news. I used to own a 2003 Sebring LXi with the same engine and had nothing but problems. I would not recommend owning any vehicle with a Chrysler 2.7L V6!
Regardless of the cheap effort-less look of the interiors of these cars (although this one has a nice colour), I really like these cars alot! There are tons of these on the roads where I am to and the ride is really smooth and quiet, great car for cruising around in or going on a road trip while saving gas. These cars are actually very fuel-efficient, when me and my family went to Toronto on vacation, a Sebring was our rental car and we drove all over the place and only burned one tank of gas!
@McVaio No I don't think our rental had that. This was in 2003, so we had a 2003 Sebring. I can barely remember it, being so long ago, but I do remember it having a black cloth interior and the 2.7L V-6 with an automatic.
You know there redoing the sebring for 2011, and its going to be heavily based on the 200c concept car. And the interior is going to have lexus quality style, better driving dnamics, ride, you name it. I'm really excited to see what its going to be like! I hope its going to be alot better then the current one.
Maybe, but definitely need to remember that anything they say should be taken with a grain of salt. Don't get your mind set until someone other than Chrysler says its good. . .
