Americans used to be much more polite and formal. As we were a 'conservative' country. For example you would never address an older person by their first name. Always Mr. Smith or Mrs Jones. But many children/people born after 1980's have not had a proper upbringing. Basically the whole country became rude, impolite and discourteous. Less formal. The 'Me' generation. We blame the Liberals/socialists for this. Liberals(democrats) do not respect laws, the US constitution and other people.

it has been said (by thais) when thais are dealing with the service class they are less polite, than a foreigner might be.
