This is very very good. But the strings cannot capture the earnest in Birgisson's voice. His cadence is an instrament in itself. I'm not hating on this though. It's excellent.
Nothing like a great live performance and especially given the talent here. Strings are ideal in this type of setting and this performance is quite consistent with the original studio recording. Wonderful to watch and to listen to.
This cover is just incredible. I love Sigur Ros, but honestly I think this is better than the original version of "Flugufrelsarinn." Granted I can't understand the words and have to look up a translation to know what his songs are about, so I know I'm losing some of the essence in translation. That said, when it's just notes and not lyrics a song becomes something completely different and in this case it's something amazing.
This song was used as a running music theme in Cincinnati at Playhouse in the Park for the play, '"Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". Very effective for the eerie twists and turns represented in the human psyche... a moving, and very stirring composition....
this is why i love violins and cellos

Listening to this makes me want to wear a tunic, befriend a squat man and an elf, and run across New Zealand.
