@cuneo1950 - Yeah, so LB did something similar in the 40's. What's your point? Comedians, actors, musicians, and virtually every other kind of performer have been "borrowing" each others licks since a caveman told the first funny story around the camp fire. I'm sure PH was acutely aware of LB's early take on this and thought it would be great to do with more current celebs. I think he was right. It diminishes neither LB nor PH and in fact makes for a nice homage to LB.
i love phil but lenny bruce did the german impressions of american movie stars at his audition for arthur godfrey's talent scouts in the late 40's radio show
Phil Hartman - Absolutely GENIUS sketch comedian and voice character actor. Not really a stand up guy, and his impressions here were middle of the road choices, nothing special. He did much better later.
Phil himself would have told you he was well beyond this, and it is nothing of quality.
RE: Walks of fame stars, they're just purchased from the chamber of commerce. Raise the money, and you're done.

He can't have been fluent, he mixed up formal and informal pronouns and verbs, that's very basic German! (he's using the informal du with formal verb conjugations)
