I have a book that is very useful in dating and identifying the personnel on German dance and jazz 78 recordings. It is "Die deutsche "78er" Discographie der Hot-Dance-und Jazz-Musik 1903-1958" by Horst H. Lange. This book is a very useful listing of German jazz and dance 78's from 1903-1958. This recording is listed in the book on page 378 as recorded in Berlin in December,1928. I enjoyed this easy swinging version of this tune by a great band. The trombone solo was very good.
Great to hear this - have another version by Lud on his "1924-33" CD. Spencer Clark's bass sax playing is just a delight! Surprised a colored celluloid disc 80 years old can sound this good.
(BTW- "I Can't Give You" was really written by McHugh and Fields.)
Wunderbare Aufnahme. Danke für diese Rarität!

Composers credits underneath the title are wrong! It should be Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields instead of Gus Kahn and Elmer Schoebel...

Such a good version! The sound is amazing, especially given that it's a flexible disc.
