i was blessed to have been born in the 60s i am in my40s it sounds just as good today as it did when i was a teenager thanks for posting songs like this where people can reminice about the good old days when music was music
A young lady died on the 22nd September 2011, aged 16. She was beautiful, had everything to live for! Yet that distance train took her life. I have never heard or listened to a song that the lyrics express the way the world feels. It is raining all over the world. For a life that was so tragically taken. I pray for all her family and for you Georgia, R.I. P Your memory will always live on xxx
Benton himself recorded several versions of this song. This one is the best. It's got that gut-tugging wounded feeling that only the very best singers can draw out of a great song. My many thanks for posting!
This song still gets to me after all these years, Brooke's vocals, the string section, Hammond B3 organ and just a touch of Harmonica here and there. Almost sounds like early Stevie Wonder on the harp. Great stuff, fantastic arrangment. Absolutely timeless.
Mr. Benton, within this song, presented an individual quality of wonderful talent. Even though, may he now, belong to the ages; isn`t it of a sincerely wonderful consideration to enjoy the beauty of his vocals which remain among us, today, :).
I remember this song more than I do his duets because that is how I first heard of him. through this song. I had a neighbor and this song would come on and that man would sit down and sing along with that song. it's been forty years plus and still remember that.
I bought this album when I was all alone stationed in Missouri. I remember placing it on the hifi and being drawn in first by the immsgery and then by the feeling. I CRY MOST OFT HE TIME WHEN I LISTEN TO THIS. THE IRONY IS I QUIT FEELING LONELY OR DESPONDENT.I AM JUST GLAD I KNEW HIM.
@GOlmedo Ah, dont let it make you cry unless they are good tears !!! We are so blessed to have all this great music saved and can enjoy it anytime!! ;)"
@GOlmedo Ah so true.. so many greats taken young.. but as I said how very fortunate we are all to have this technology where even older songs are being restored.. I loved this song..Good memories..
What an outstanding song, so smooth, mellow, warm, and truly heartfelt. This is one of those songs that causes you to reflect on all that you love and care for, it's so emotionally touching. Yeah, it hits you kinda deep.
yes it really does, this song is haunting in a good way.when i first heard this song,it felt like i was IN Georgia,i could feel Brooke's pain, and i still do after all these years.this song is so powerful,it almost brought me to tears when i first heard it.it's so heartfelt, passionate, and meaningful.you can tell Brooke REALLY put his soul into this, and i absolutely love when musicians put there all in there music,it always makes for better music in the end always.make it personal..
@SpinDoctor91 I read your comment to this song, and I understand! This song brings such vivid visual images to my mind. The words and music make me feel sad, but hopeful at the same time, as if he will find his love in the end. Truly, this is one of the most touching songs, one of my most favourite. I wish there was music today of the same caibre as this song!
i completely agree,i wish newer artist had the same passion with there music like Brooke and alot of older artist had with there music back in the day.songs like this had more heart and feeling, and were way more powerful.the passion is lacking nowadays that's one of the main problems.the powerful music is pretty much absent all the way.older songs were more passionate and heartfelt and the artist sung them accordingly..
Brook Benton did the best rendition of this song! Wow, you can actually FEEL this song! The richness of his voice, and the musical instruments just make this a bluesy masterpiece! Thanks for posting this one!!
