I think people cling Way too tightly to the idea that Grif is fat. His model is Exactly the same as everyone else. Sarge might make fun of him that he's fat, and Grif might admit to eating junk food, but at the end of the day he's still in perfect shape just like everyone else.

Also, It's a joke. It's not a decider for the character. Until RT wastes the cash to make a totally unique CG model for Grif, he's going to be in the exact same shape as every other character in the show.

Either that or you're suggesting something ridiculous, like that their armor rearranges their body parts to make them look the same no matter their actual shape (e.g. Hermes' Limbo suit in Futurama).

Interesting idea, but again, not in the show.

The animation kind of reminds me of Avatar: the Last Airbender. Grif's gestures in particular remind me of the character Sokka.

Pity they didn't do anything with this; it'd pretty much give them the freedom to do anything they wanted. They'd no longer be constrained by Halo's character models and animations. But, I guess each episode would take, like, three times as long since they couldn't really reuse anything. All that freedom would mean no easy-to-make scenes.
