  • I live in the yankee nation, every time I ride off to as far to the right as possible on my bike to school, folks seem to have difficulty not running stop signs and almost knocking me off my bike. I also get beeped at when I have to run across onramps...no bike and ped accommodations were put in.

Driving is an amazing experience, but its also industrial slavery. You keep tossing parts and licensing fees at it just to keep it ticking away, with bikes, no licensing crap, and less parts.

  • @mellowNdark The old mallarky insurance again, why don't you get on a bike? Wait a minute ....you like paying high premium?

  • You're riding down the middle of the lanes and undercutting all those cars? And you have the nerve to bitch about people in cars? What a mug!

  • @TheToonMonkey It is also illegal to stop in the middle of the road blocking everyone else. Read the Highway Code with regards to filtering.

  • I like my commute better. Left turn from the bedroom door into the hall, down one door and a left into the office. There is a bit of a traffic jam at times but I just step over the dog and keep on going. I have to admit the view isn't spectacular but I only have to look at it for 15 seconds so it's bearable.

  • @deezynar :-)

  • Sometimes I get frustrated on my morning commute so I look through which of Magnatom's videos I can abuse him and other cyclists. That makes me feel better :)

  • @vousden A real keyboard warrior!Wow You cannot abuse Magnatom even if you try all Cyclists has a cloaking device.

  • @MrStratos2012 I'm not sure what you're saying, but it was a joke, I'm on Magnatom's side - see my channel.

  • @mellowNdark All members of British Cycling have £10million 3rd party liability insurance so that would cover it if the cyclist was at fault.

  • youre breaking the law undertaking like that - squeezing down the middle of the lane - you only overtake on the right....

  • yeah look how cold wet and slow it is tho :/ think il stay in the car mate.

  • @mellowNdark Realistically what is the most damage a cyclist could do to a car? In addition do not lump all cyclists together, I don't jump red lights and many cyclists don't. Yes there is bad cyclists but there is also bad drivers, is a cyclist did collide with a someone (where the cyclist was at fault) the cyclist would either use his insurance (if he has home insurance that will cover it / other insurance) or cover the costs of the repairs personally out of pocket in addition to a fine.

  • Who would FUCk'n drive in england!? I though our traffic was bad!

  • @mellowNdark That's an interesting issue and a reasonable argument could be made for it (probably not by you though).

It comes down to whether the harm caused by cyclist not having insurance is greater than the cost involved (on all sides) by forcing them to do so.

We force motorists to have insurance because of the potential they have to do great harm to others. Cyclists do not haveany like the same potential.

  • @mellowNdark why?

  • Sexually frustrated?!

  • the supra at 4:14 made hard.

  • Watching this video near the end made me so depressed thinking how reliant people are on the automobiles to get to their workplaces - like mindless drones all going to someplace. Unfortunately I can't cycle to work because I live 40 miles away and I gather it would take quite some time to cycle :(

  • watch this video in 3x speed and you get an idea of what it's like to commute on a motorbike =P

  • @Vracktal I actually chose my bicycle over my motorbike on good days, same sort of 'freedom' feeling, but there is something about actually having to work for your self to get somewhere!

  • You pass the woman who got pissed off with you in you "Contempt" video at 4:28 haha

  • It took me a month or 2 to actually enjoy cycling in Sheffield since there were no flat routes to work and back. Well worth it in the end though. I'm amazed about the rage of certain car drivers though. Even if you follow the rules of the road...

Apparently they don't apply to me.... I'm always wrong

  • Stopping = full of win. Fck average speeds, fck getting to work on time (granted whats going to slow you down)... nature is bliss and wins over all.

  • Cycling; IRL trolling at its finest... EVERYONE MAD AT CYCLISTS... Not a single fuck given from the cyclists.

    Love ur videos man

  • Cycling is much better than driving to work ? That's a personal opinion. I'll stick to my car with my cd player, seats that don't give me a sore arse, air con/heaters and without the risk of falling out and the pollution from buses thank you very much.

  • @Liammau5 Have you tried cycling to work?

  • @magnatom please dude, for the love of god, dont be a dictator. if someone says they prefer driving, don't try to belittle their opinion. I'm lucky enough to live in a very nice area and both drive and ride to work depending on how many drawings i need to take. i like both, both have advantages and disadvantages. its all down to choice, and everyone has their own. peace mate.

  • @Liammau5

In your car you'd rather get hemorroids. It's far worse than simple sore arse (which you won't get when using right pants and seat)

  • @Liammau5 Probably want to do more research and try it yourself, sore arse... sounds like someone who rides a bike once a year, and pollution? Evidence shows that pollution is worse for a person sitting inside a car.

  • @Liammau5 If your arse is sore after a ride, you're doing it wrong ;)

fair enough though, car is for you, cycling is for me.

I dont think you're strange for driving to work! why do you think its strange to cycle to work?

    Each to their own, no?

  • @Liammau5 you know the pollution inside your car is higher than a cyclist has to deal with, yes?

  • @Liammau5 you prefer the stick the child in the back seat crash she goes head first through the glass... oh ok fair enough brah

  • We all like sheep... I cannot believe the drivers. Herd instinct? Flocking together.

  • @KatsDekker It's easy to do what you are used to. Change is difficult, especially when change means a loss of 'perceived' comfort and safety. It is difficult to compare the risks of a sedentary lifestyle with the much smaller risks of riding a bike.

  • I drive to work because i enjoy driving, i have a passion for all things automotive. It doesnt bother me sitting in traffic because i can have the heater on and my Ipod plugged into the radio. Plus i know a few people who cycle to work and they always turn up sweaty and looking miserable. I do understand why people cycle to work, i understand it the same way as i'd rather drive places rather than cycle, some people would rather cycle places rather than drive etc

  • @Biterphobia1 Interesting. Tell me a bit more about the type of traffic you commute in. Is it urban or rural? Fast, slow roads? How long does it take you and how far is it you commute?

  • @magnatom Normal rush hour traffic, although due to the shifts i work, ususally only get caught in the really bad stuff a few times a week. All urban and mostly slow roads, i'll sometimes take the long way home on the fast roads because why not? On average it takes me about 25-30 minutes and its a mere 15 mile run

  • @Biterphobia1 I enjoy driving too, but sadly going to work etc I dont and I don't have a traffic issue. It's not bad... its just meh (Im a rural bike commuter btw). Anyone turning up miserable is doing it wrong, this also applies to people driving it (this includes being sweaty :p)

  • Delightful video. Scotland appears to be very beautiful in the autumn.

  • @DelVeien he was just showing it on one of the three nice days we had, that's all.

  • what bike do you use. also what speed can you easily get it up to on a flat surface

  • I have cycled to work every single day for the past 6 years, I have reached the point where I am now living car free. I made an estimate a few months back the money I saved by cycling is over £26,000. I have also lost 4 stone and have dramatically reduced my BMI from very overweight to well within the acceptable margin.

Still cycling everyday and loving life.

  • @smith34n That is what it's all about. Great to hear! :-)

  • I can see why you cycle and wish I could but I don't trust car drivers the 3 mile commute I have is all on 60MPH single carriageway, double white lines, blind corners & blind hills., And a lot of Army convoys. it's 4-5minute journey Vs 30mins by cycle (not sure if that’s accurate)....am a car driver myself and I always make sure there is room for cycles I even adjust my wing mirrors so I can see cycles more clearly.

  • @Michael1918 My most direct route is on a busy A road. I have to use it occasionally, but avoid it most of the time. I've found a longer but far more enjoyable route to work. Do you have this option? Any alternative roads you could use?

  • Motorbike/Bicycle FTW

  • What a stunning video. Everything about it was just beautiful, from the exquisite autumn colours to the stunning scenery and views. I must say the piece of music you used was particularly fitting. I really enjoyed this video thank you for sharing it :)

  • I keep my car for leisure only, i walk to work its only a 15 minute walk. It annoys me that there is people i work with who live much closer than me to work and still drive in, some a quarter mile probably less.

Looking into buying a bike havent riden one for ages used to love it when i was younger.

  • Those are beautiful fall colors! I like to ride a bike too! It's a great way to get in shape, lose weight, and stay in shape and best thing of all you don't get stuck in traffic most of the time.

  • 4:15

    SUPRA :D

  • Its part of the Ford that I've just crossed. I look back at it.

  • What is that you are looking at, at 2:37? It looks like water coming out of a pipe or something.

  • It really is unbelievable that they'll sit in queues like that every day.

  • Commuting on quiet country roads FTW.

  • I've not encountered a solid lump of dinosaur-burning tins and thought, "Ah, tranquility!" before... so, what's the ditty?

  • Soo relaxing magna.

Question, is that a phillips safe ride headlight on your handlebars?

  • @guunther1 It is indeed. Great light.

  • And the weird thing is, those drivers see you cycling past them every day and not once do they think "Ah forget this, I'm getting on my bike"

  • i am 14 so too young to drive a car anyway. but in the summer when dawn is at about 5AM or earlier if i am awake i always go on bike rides down 'the meadows' it is amazing to have loads of fields in the middle of manchester. i love it when they are misty and there is dew on the grass :~)

i need to go on rides in the lake district more...

  • @flamesecureUK Whatever you do, don't give it up as you get older. Keep riding. You won't regret it. :-)

  • @magnatom aha, iknow. i need to get out on my bike more! its not a nice feeling when after riding for 20 minutes on flat surface i am out of breath :'(

  • @flamesecureUK What iss this meadows you speak off? I live in Manchester and have no idea what it is! Do share young cyclist friend :P

  • @sirarrgh it is in chorlton. 'the meadows' is also known as 'chorlton ees' or 'hardy farm'

there is an entrance at the end of hardy lane... gmaps it and have a nice day out.

the Mersey runs through it and there is a nice pub called 'Jacksons boat' :)

  • @flamesecureUK Well said bro

  • @flamesecureUK what does your mom and dad say to you when you go out at 5am ?

  • @youkimaru2 they don't. they are asleep.

but they know i do it and they are fine with it.

  • i like the idea of cycling to work but for me, it just not practical.

  • I still think a car has its place, but for me I ride because its the best option for me (fitness, finance, quick and easy). I agree with SkrzypczykBass, anything up to 20 miles for the fit and able, but most people would be fine with the 5 mile mark...

  • I had the realization the other day as to why car drivers (in the rush hour at least) dislike cyclists so much but I couldn't decide which would be the top reason:

    1. Getting around at a decent pace

    2. Having a ton of fun doing it :-)

I know for some people it is unavoidable and I'm rather fortunate to live close to the city but I don't think anything upto around 15-20 miles each way would be too difficult.

  • I love listening to my tunes in the car.. and the warm air blowing in my face while i drink a cup of coffee..

  • @OriginalSleeeepyhead Obviously you will be drinking the coffee only when sat in a stationary queue....

  • @OriginalSleeeepyhead ... and make a few phone calls as well - no need to pay any attention to the traffic outside.

  • @sjuas690 I pay a lot of attention actually! and yes, Handsfree!

  • I wish I lived in a place were I could ride my bike all year arround. Sadly I live in Sweden and have to endure the damn winter with snow every year wich sucks

  • @peterahjorter Get a velomobile ! People ride them in winter with snow! :)

  • I love narrow roads. They generally have less traffic using them and are usually very scenic.

  • Cycling too work is better than driving to work. Got to disagree Mag!

Nothing beats sliding into your comfy Volvo leather seats and driving to work is sheer comfort and refinement and arriving there stress free as opposed to arriving sweaty, tired, and stressed out from the idiotic drivers on the commute. Sure cycling is good for keeping fit and you save money on petrol etc but I personally like the car for the trip and for keeping fit I walk the dogs after work along my golf course :P

  • @racer17551 4:00 to 5:30 you would rather be in a car?

  • @vousden

I don't live in a city full of cars, My journeys are mostly A-roads.

  • @racer17551 That makes a difference. I enjoy driving. One of my best holidays was driving around the north and west of Scotland. However, commuting in Glasgow? No thanks! :-)

  • @magnatom

Yeh you'll be chased for your wallet :P

I live in a town with 7000 people and there is pretty much no jobs around here so I'm forced to drive to work. I do fancy cycling but like I say there is no jobs around here :(

  • @racer17551 You might want to think about mother nature? ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @racer17551 Tired from commuting? Sounds like your exactly the kind of person that needs to cycle more ;)

  • @cycletank

Implying I'm unfit are you? my job is a good 44 miles from my house. Never mind waking up at 5.30. Cars are my comfortable and stress free. I do enjoy the odd cycle journey though.

  • @racer17551 44 miles, I'll yet you off :D

  • Comment removed

  • @cycletank

Thanks lol. I wouldn't mind commuting on a bike if my journey was say 5-10 miles, but 44 well it's a stretch :P

  • @racer17551 A chap at work does 25 miles each way on his bicycle. However, we do have to thaw him out sometimes when it's well sub zero!

  • @gadgetmind

lol, the benefits of a car. Having a car and a bike is a good combo. One for the town and the other for the A-roads etc.

  • @racer17551 I have a couple of cars, as does the guy I mentioned who cycle commutes 50 miles a day. I rarely drive on anything other than motorways as I reserve my cars for long trips.

  • @racer17551 So, driving is a non-stressing thing for you, and idiotic drivers, do not stress you [ as you said in your post ]? You must be rich, to have your own golf course!

  • @busog97641

lol I don't own a golf course. I walk along side it. Idiotic drivers do annoy me but usually I don't meet many on the roads near me.

  • Ugg, the transition at 4 minutes is horrible haha :) Much preferring the fall colors and back roads. Stay safe brother

  • I envy you the amazing first part of your commute, but not the second - though at least the cagers are safely static.

What goes on in the minds of all those sheeple sealed in their steel boxes when you pass them day after day ?

Maybe you look too young and sporty ?

I do my best with my Heath Robinson bike, flappy old coat and grey hair ..
