To djamorpheus, I agree that neither the Republicans nor the Democrats offer real solutions to our problems over here. Both parties have long ago sold out to the corporate and other special interests. Among other reforms, we could use something akin to proportionate representation so that candidates who possess principles would have a chance of being elected. I also would like to see term limits imposed so that elected office is not something one pursues as a lifetime profession.

The U.S. soceity is approaching implosion. The signs are everywhere: a $15 trillion and growing national debt, a system of taxation that rewards speculation rather than production of goods, high permanent unemployment, a growing class of impoverished people, rising homelessness, widespread gang activity, organized crime, obesity as a population epidemic, continued dependence on fossil fuels, increased CO2 emissions, a concentration of wealth and income not seen since 1929, no real leadership!
