After the Olympic threw her propeller blade and took Titanic's spot in drydock im pretty sure that the ships didn't trade places on a "daily basis". And second, many people may not think so, but there was more to Titanic than just a copy of Olympic. The Olympic class was originally built to be identical, but modifications such as enclosed promenades (Titanic & Britannic) and millionaire suites were added. Britannic was suppose to be even more radical but we unfortunately never got to see her.
i would NOT doubt a switch of the two ships, makes perfect sense and the only way to cash in on the Olympic since it was NOT insurable and pretty much use less, It would NOT be the first time big Industry committed Insurance fraud, These guys are in business to make a profit by hook or by CROOK! I guess the only small justice in this case is the fact that White Star went out of business in the 1930's and Ismay was a social out cast because he was a coward, he should have gone down with Titanic!
You useless pack of arsehats, I suppose the promenade was filled in with cardboard and painted white was it? and no one noticed, ffs get a grip. The Hawke was a light cruiser 7350 gross tons, she hit Olympic towards the stern, not midships in fact farther sternward then the mast, there is NO WAY this tiny ship could break the Olympics back given the leverage of being hit so far sternward. There WAS NO SERIOUS DAMAGE TO Olympic.

A Documentary showed it was actually the Olympic that sunk on April 1912, not the Titanic. If you look were the name Titanic is supposed to be, the imprents acutally show Olympic. They switched the identies in a big insurance fraud.
Titanic and Olympic were switched. The Real Olypmic (later swicthed to titanic which sank) got rammed in southampton by Navy heavy cruiser HMS Hawke (1891) in fog. Olympic was damaged so badly that after temp repairs got it to Belfast it was inspected and found the ships back was broken & beyond repair. The Navy cruiser was found 'not at fault' by the Govt's own enquiry. All the blame was pushed to White Star which would have had a huge bill and also a crippled ship worth scrap. Switch& Sink
@shoplift1 , hence why the ship on the bottom of the Mid Atlantic is in 2 parts ( does the collision with Hawk tally with the fracture point).. I wonder also if there's some correlation to the cause of WW1, definately some monumental insurance scam going on. And then some deal with the British Gov't involving the use of Gigantic/Britannic as a hospital ship "sunk in 1916"...A pivotal juncture in WW1, when Germany offered a truce to end the war?

dats dumb mane. if da olympic sunk and not titanic den how come da ship at da botttom of da sea say TITANIC not OLYMPIC?? dumass. il tell u wat doe, da ppl knew dat it was real cold out at sea and der was gone b huge ice bergs, even other shhips out dat nite told dem dat der was huge bergs out, bt dey wanted 2 make headlines and get der superfast so dey sped up insted of slowed down. and nobody was lookin out wen dey was spoze 2. dats da real conspiracy theroy i want 2 c mane.
If you pay attention, The Titanic was missing this five porthole arrangement during her launch too. Explain that, theorists.
2. "Olympic was starting to look more and more like Titanic." Or was it, Titanic starting to look like Olympic.
3. The most important fact: White Star line was doing this as an insurance scam, right? Wouldn't you make more money selling the ship than swapping and sinking her?
I think it is funny that all most 100 years latter people are talking shit like this. my god people were any of you there in 1912 to see them side by side. get over it move on
@markinkw1 100 years ago is relatively recent. You have known people that were alive then. We're not talkin about ancient egypt. Should we forget about 9/11 too? How many times will you be fooled before you begin to care? The only reason this shit keeps happening is because too many people like you are willfully ignorant.
@markinkw1 If the wrongful death of over 2000 innocent people is meaningless for you no matter what the time frame you've lost your humanity a long time ago. Life is life.
Problem is Ice ..even very hard ice do not pierce Metal ... it is not only a fact but in the world with the law of physic in which we all live Ice piercing Metal do not exist .
@sattanhellsing well your right never ever did or is ice going to pierce trough metal, and yes that never happend on titanic either, the thing what happend was when the iceberg hit it pusht the hull plates back and voila,
there is only one thing that doesnt make sense...if the olympic was to damaged to sail again...it would have been taken out of service...there is no way that this happened...if a ship cannot be insured it couldn't have carried passengers...
@urokorcshaman the point was that the Olympic had taken damage and was seen unfit to use again so they switched the ships so the titanic would sail on under 'the Olympic' and the Olympic was 'the titanic' and then the titanic would crash and they could claim on insurance. i think that's what it was any way.
fuck chase bank.

@davinp I do not think the name idea will matter whn you notice Titanic had an enclosed promenade and Olympic did not.
