  • good lesson the only thing is what you did was the diminished arpaggion not the diminished scale the skill is similar to the arpaggio but u add your second and third finger so the diminished scale is

    E 1 2 4

    A 2 4 5

    D 3 4 6

    G 4 6 7

    b 6 7 9

    e 7 9 10

  • Thanks for putting this up.

  • So how long should I practice each scale? Practice one for 10 min the move on to another etc.

Or should I practice one a day?

  • @Fernandez3995 It's up to you. For my students I would usually give them a scale one week, see how they did, then assign another if they could play it flawlessly from memory 3x with no pauses in between.

  • @viperabs aright ill try that. Ill work from 80 BPM to 115BPM. thanks

  • how long did it take you to master them?

  • they have the same guitar at guitar center

  • this is so great ha

  • please tell me where i should start learning scales! i really want to learn but i cant find where to start! some one point me in the right direction please! I already know fretboard theory as in notes and where there located and spacing and stuff

  • What mode is actually good to play as a diminished chord.

    Isn't that phrygian?

  • nice

  • Scales really give you the freedom to express yourself because they are so versatile and comprehensive... Many thanks for this!

  • what are guitar scales and why are they so important........i dont get it

  • @eLeCtRoFrEaK0036 Go learn them, master them, then get back to me if you don't see why.

  • @viperabs ive learned at least 20 different scales. i can play them pretty fast and anywhere on the neck... i still havent figured out the purpose of scales

  • @eLeCtRoFrEaK0036 if you play music thats NOT just power chords, then you need scales. they help with solo's, hand-eye coordination and they can improve your speed, finger strength and your technique. i still need to learn scales as well

  • Thanks for sharing those Japanese scales, they sound wonderful, especially when made into an arpeggio, mmmm yummy

  • i like your shirt! awsome!

  • Man this lesson of scales is great for begginers and for practising. Thank you

  • Alright man, thanks. Your an awesome teacher btw man. Ver clear, calm and to the point. The next Satch 8]

  • How Important is the Action on a electric guitar? It's difficult for me to play this because is so high : /

  • @FatherStarr Fortunately with electric guitars, you can adjust your action very easily. Lower your action until it buzzes alot, then raise it back up a hair.

  • Oh wow. I knew whole tone was easy but I did not know that about the diminished scale. Sweet! *goes practice*

  • I have the exact same shecter...it's awesome isnt it

  • It's good to have knowledge of the scales.. suggestion for next video is to show people where and how to apply them when trying to write a solo either on the fly or putting it down in a recording. Having knowledge of these scales is one thing.. applying them is where the fun part for a musician starts, heh.

  • @AxisofJustice21 I have videos on how to write solos and such, but this is actually the followup. You'd be surprised how many people don't think scales are important.

  • @viperabs Haha I wish I could say I was surprised by it.. but it's more than common to find a player that plays all these licks and has technique out the yin yang, but put him in a position where you go on the fly? He's lost.. he has no idea.

  • @viperabs I use to think scales are point less and retarted... but then after this first year of playing I realized I can't write a whole solo without it cause, I don't know what notes go together. And I think it's great that your teaching people the imprtance of these scales, great job man.

  • derp

  • @Buurrned Merp.

  • Great Lesson!

  • First of all, beautiful guitar. Second, what does whole tone mean? I've never come across that scale before.

  • @GuitarOrDeath Its composed of all whole-steps. Thanks for checking out my vid!

  • i thought fish scales were the best until i saw this!

  • @ManicStreetStevO All info is on my channel or in the info bar.

  • That scale is not just called "Pentatonic" it is the Minor Pentatonic.

  • @didntsave Depends on your reference, because most just refer to it as the pentatonic.

  • @viperabs Pentatonic means the scale has 5 tones. the diminished scale has 5 tones, so it is Pentatonic as well.

  • @didntsave I'm not saying you aren't correct, I just used more common terminology. No need to treat me as though I don't know what I made my video about.

  • @viperabs No harm intended, just putting it out there for people who didn't know.

  • Neat, I haven't seen anyone else mention the two scales at the end before. Thanks!
