  • 03:21 CLAP, dammit. I want you to CLAP

  • In the language of the "arrgghhh" he is saying: "f*** you bitch you're killing me"

  • @Bilopicoyusipucus

Woah, woah, calm down there. That wasn't bitching, that was a joke. Let's just be cool so this doesn't get out of hand, yeah? :D

  • The way the nerve cells transmogrifies through the centrifugal infringement of the metal carbonate wiring of the network depends on the level of suffiency in the blue lime acid levels. It also affects the factor of how much potato salad you consume during an interval of three months. This is the meaning behind this anime. Now hurry up and eat your breakfast!

  • Im kinda disapointed in this ending. I mean Ive invested in this plot and character develope and have it all end in a oh if we dont remeber it never happen....its akin to Dallas where it was all a dream. Pshhh and the girl who took a swan dive is back ughhh!!!!

  • i haven't been this confused since the third matrix movie...

  • Wow, then lain decided to "Reset All", and just like a volatile memory, those who knew her have forgotten that she ever existed, that makes me think that If chisa is alive, that means that her suicide was because of Lain's existence...

But, Why those shadows keep those strange colors?, the wired and the real world are still one?...

At least Arisu Seems to be happy...

This anime is a Master Piece...

    Thank you for the episodes...

  • by erasing the memories people around have of you, you also alter a lot everyone's identity : it's not only removing a relationship, it's also erasing personnal and collective developments/evolution people had taken. So it kinda looks "criminal" ...

  • okeeey.... Arisu lost it....

  • The opening explains it all:

"And you don't seem to understand..."

  • Arisu is overly dramatic...

  • @EmoraChan13 yeah, it's only a flesh monster trying to eat her. what a baby.

  • @apusama That's not what I mean, I'm talking about after. I've been in situations where I could have been eaten alive and didn't freak out in the slightest. I was a child playing in the woods and thought, "Could be worse..."

  • @EmoraChan13 ohh. i see.

still, bears and wolves have been studied so people know about them. this is a freaky, unpredictable flesh...THING. i'm not so brave and i know i'd probably freak the crap out.

  • @apusama For me, it'd be like, "Whatever..."

If I know it's something I don't have the ability to fight, I forfeit. If it's something I feel deep down I can get rid of, I out effort into it.

Freaky flesh eating monsters? Bring on Cthluhu, the Shoggoth or something... That'd really have me screaming...

  • i freakin luuuuuuv this anime!!! its so riveting

  • No! I don't want Lain to be dead or written out of existence or whatever!

On the plus side, we got another "Alice" allusion. Nice.

  • Leggo my EGO... please.

  • affected me to a subconscious quandary that this series centers a lot around: reality, identity, subconscious connectivity, and in almost pantheistic unity via Schumann Resonance.

She may have doubts of her individual reality, and for the series record, but Lain is a person more REAL to me than any other fictitious character of any series

The outre pervasiveness of this series is just...Stellar

Maybe not even a series at all, who knows? Maybe Lain is just an extra/alternate dimension away...

  • Lain is such an impressionable character throughout the series, the turmoil, philosophical debacles, and tragedy she underwent just further solidified her being. The moments in the episode where she used to do her daily palaver filled me with a hollowed sense of intense eeriness.

The thought of her 'not there' caused a strange ambivalence within me, I don't know why, that just me.

Perhaps this brilliant series executed well enough to develop such attachment to her.

    Or in any case (cont'd)

  • If you forget it, it didn't happen...if you are forgotten, you don't exist. Nobody. Kingdom Hearts moment much? (Same logic applies.)

Back to Lain, am I guessing correctly that now she only exists in the wired now that she realizes she was the catalyst causing the lines to blur between reality and the wired? (Though reality in this anime is kind of subjective.)

  • It's a good thing that this is the final episode, cause If I see that mother jam rice in her face one more goddamn time I'm gonna punch a freaking baby!

  • Everything seems more 'real' now.

  • Wow that phone is so cool at 9:21

This is such a good psychological anime I'm glad I looked past the graphics :/

  • totally i wish i had that phone!

  • If Lain's confused, I don't even WANT to know what I am.

  • angsty? -_-

  • @protonmonkey angsty? -_-

  • if Lain is already confused, what can you expect for an average viewer like me? xD

  • 7:24 Creepy skull-faced bust behind Arisu.

  • on the long run the plot was generaly the same as the Butter Fly effect.

Finding out the only way to make a happy future, was by erasing yourself from existance.

  • I think personally...she may have taken the easy way out by disappearing...

One should be alive in the real world...and live the responsibility of pain.

  • the pain is the only thing to make sure you are doing a good work in the real world. if people cant stand pain, either cant stand real life.

  • @kreidas

    That is the right response.

  • @kreidas

I don't think so. Being forgotten is more painful. Now that there is no memory of her, she can only know herself through her own existence. A strong theme is that of consensus reality.

I don't think departing from 'humanity' inherently represents escape. People may seek it for that reason, but I'd argue Lain never sought it. "Apotheosis", when approached in this way, strikes me as anything but easy. It's the only option. 'Fate'. That's how I feel about this ending.

  • @kreidas ...and if pain is only a figment of one's imagination?

  • @EmoraChan13 Well...there is a saying (correct me if I'm wrong) that pain is all in the mind, and one can control it?

This topic is getting real deep, isn't it? And that's why animes like Lain and Perfect Blue will always be a lot better in my opinion than a lot of the newer animes out recently...back in the day...animes like this makes you THINK:)

  • @kreidas One can choose to control it... or something like that. It's what Reverend Murata said in one of his sermons. (I'm Buddhist)

And, yeah, it is getting deeper. You mean how a lot of them are a lot alike? One Piece, Naruto, etc... u.u

I miss the good ol' days. Even if I was too young to understand, I at least tried.

  • @EmoraChan13 Yeah...and it's not just the Anime industry..other entertainment outlets...are just as bad...ie gaming, tv shows, etc...the good ol' days are sorely missed.

  • @kreidas It's all apart of some master plan to dumb people down, I guess.

  • Also like a less complicated but longer version of Donnie Darko, right?

  • Personally I think it's far MORE complicated than Donnie Darko.

  • Only Lain came out before both of them.

  • This series is truely off da hizzay...i'm hooked!!!

    It's spell binding...obsessive and extraordinary!!

  • Most briliant thing I have ever seen with my eyes. The japanese are much more advanced than us americans, i want to go to their think tanks. What present day present time means, is within in the cartoons or our worlds shared relative existance. Where are the people now? Where are the scientist that really existed in our life time? did they succeed in what they were trying to do? are they all within all of us already because here we are brought together to watch Lain at this very momen. schuman?

  • Thank you for saying nice things about Japan (I'm happy since I am Japanese) but of course we are advanced at Anime than Americans, or other countries. We have been writing for a long time; heck, there even is a proof of a Japanese writing a tantacle rape fiction back in Edo period. XD

  • pretentious psychobabble GOOD JOB

  • taru phone is badass

  • heyyyyya!! wat the hell happened to lain u just cant erase your self from the world like that. can u ?

  • you're clever if you bother to watch this in the first place, don't make fools of others or yourself. it's not bad to be slow to catch on to the plot; it may make it all the better.

  • by commenting you baselacy say you watch it thus making you stupid

  • oh yeah you got me there buddy.

  • it's like sailor moon, when rini made everyone forget oo

  • Arisu,you freaking scratched Lain's face. <.<

  • Did she just...erase herself out of existence? Reset the whole story?

Better watch the next two bits, I suppose.

  • lol keep ur pimp hand strong. XD

  • Its depressing to know that i won't ever hear "present day, present time" again :(.

  • but what does it mean?

  • omg Arisu stfu!!!!

  • She's just scared. Of course she'll just scream and cry. Keeping your pimp hand strong on here wont do any good ya know. >.>

  • is this the last episode..or is there more then 13

  • This is the last episode, but you probably already know that by now, lol.

  • Thats ok...thanks for telling me tho..^_^

  • I loved the first few episodes, but then the middle ones just had me lost. The last few - they made the anime the experience it is.

  • this is an excellent anime i luv it!

  • :D i loveses this show

  • Thank you very much for uploading this ^_^ it's my fav anime ^_^
