i like radiohead and the brad mehldau covers equally, i look at them in high regard. I imagine if mehldau did a cover of this song he'd be frustrated as there wouldn't be much left on the table for him to play with. truly chilling song.
Is it just a coincidence that both the title and subtitle of this album are in some way related to the Beatles? What with Help being an album, and a Day in the Life being the last track of Sgt. Pepper...
@Pwnzor729 Probably not... Radiohead is heavily influenced by the Beatles. Listen to Karma Police and Sexy Sadie back to back and you'll find they both have the same melody.
@bcoff60 This isn't a radiohead album. It's a radiohead song that radiohead contributed for a charity album. Coldplay also gave a song for this album, and so did the gorillaz and bloc party.
@bcoff60 Radiohead is *heavily* influenced by the Beatles? Are you one of those people that think that everything good that came after the 60s was a copy of a Beatles song?
You know, because they are the most overrated thing ever.
@grandsaga You can keep what you want I want none of this They're just bad memories I don't want In the sunshine You can pack it all up And be gone And be gone If it matters to you You can sell it all up If the price feels right I won't judge If you get off your knees You'll be out on the breeze Take a lesson from me Don't get stuck on a dream
I think this song is talking about how thom and the band never wanted to be "Rock stars." They just want to be artists. The lyrics say things like "You can keep it all" and "If the price is right you can sell it all"
For me this song sums up alot about the world we live in. In this day & age & alot of the people we share it with... I want none of this, I feel the same way...
tell him that will be IT!. no heaven, no hell, just nothing. he is lucky to be here, and you should try to help him realize that. good luck with that m8
I had this melody in my mind for a week, but I couldn't remember what the song was. I knew it was Radiohead. It's such a relief to listen to it having remembered what a gem of a track it is.
What world do you live in? Music never changed evil men. There's a Radiohead fan somewhere listening to this song thinking "Damn! This is beautful!" Then they waltz into the next room and drop-kick their baby for crying too loud and disrupt their "listening pleasure".
It is sad that there are people on this earth that were not nurtured as children and shown love and taught how to respect others.
I personally have raised my four children to Radiohead and many other genres of music. So far, in the past 24 years, I have not felt any urge to drop kick my babies.
People who are abused as children should not have any children, unless they know in their hearts that they will be able to do it right.
where the fuck can i download this song for free! i have their whole entire catalog down to the last unreleased demo and live version. everything except for this song
Huh? Why is radiohead not for peace? They do all kinds of peacy stuff, and Thom is very economical and earth-freindly. Alot of their songs are about troubles in the third world and stuff...Take "like spinning plates" for example, all about wars in Iraq and thrid world poverty.
I think radiohead are very much for peace, when You look at it.
There are always differences in all recorded versions of the lyrics of Radiohead songs. I'll stare at Thom's mouth if he sings this on August 28th in Santa Barbara and let you know!
You can keep what you want I want none of this They're just bad memories I don't want In the sunshine You can pack it all up And be gone And be gone If it matters to you You can sell it all up If the price fells right I won't judge If you get off your knees You'll be out on the breeze Take a lesson from me Don't get stuck on a dream
i'm not sure on "You'll be out on the breeze" Thom could also be saying "you'll be out on a breeze". i think he's saying the second line. thank you so much for the upload roxanne77, never would of found this track.
it's been in their repertory for a while. one of those non-album tracks that they'll break out live occassionally. Probably had a life before Help. If you like, its worth a YouTube search for other non-album tracks and single b sides.
why is it that everytime someone's just being honest (like 'maxsocial') everyone immediatly starts giving him the thumbs down? i happen to love this song, but he apperantly doesn't enjoy it as i (and we) do. why does that have to be such a problem? since when aren't people allowed to not like a something? all the lad said was that he didn't like it! seriously, everyone here needs to chill and stop burning 'the witch'. jeezz
Totally agree. A few months ago I made a very tongue-in-cheek, obviously jokey, comment on a radiohead vid and got flamed by all and sundry. If comments under radiohead vids don't tell of their god like perfection you get a million thumbs down and a stream of abuse.
Repetitive. Not Radiohead-y at all.

@bcoff60 Also, that's complete bullshit. They share one, *ONE* progression in completely different ways.

@Pwnzor729 No... It's about War Child. It's for a charity against child soldiers. Help and A Day In The Life both refer to their cause, obviously.

Hey, you guys alright? In the U.S, we're hearing a lot of Swine Flu horror stories and I, for one, am worried 'bout you guys.
coffmantra18 2 years ago
Yeah ! Everything's fine really.
A lot of people thinks its just a trick of the government. Like a conspiracy or something like that. But it is just a flu, nothing else.
But it isn't so bad, the news are exaggerating.
We are like 9,000,000 persons in Mexico City, and only 300 or less are sick, but only 30 or 40 are confirmed of having swine flu.
