Wow, lots of high end roll-off on the repeats. That's supposed to make it sound "analog" but the old analog pedals didn't have that much rolloff. Even the old tape delays had almost no noticeable rolloff until after a bunch of repeats.
And I wonder if MXR is using the same blue LEDs as on the BC108 fuzz pedal pedal. If so, they are stupidly bright, enough to blind you on a dark stage.
Legitimate comment: Ive been playing guitar for about 5 years, and I'm in the "pedal whore" phase of guitar development. I own around 7 pedals, and the Carbon Copy is the only one I use on a regular basis, used in conjunction with a boss loop pedal (just so I can explore around in a certain scale and whatnot). The modulation button adds an amazing touch of chorus, which makes my guitar sound like an angelic choir. From space. Literally almost a religious experience. Nuff said.

@ryanjames2007 Not exactly. What it means is that when the pedal is turned off, there's a straight connection that goes between the two cables in the I/O jacks.
Contrary to popular belief, true bypass CAN have an affect on your tone. If you have too long a pedal chain, and everything is true bypass, it's the same as having a stupidly long cable between the guitar and the amp, i.e. your tone is degraded as it goes along. This is why having a buffered bypass at the start of your chain is good.
> ...there's a straight connection that goes between the two cables in the I/O jacks.
Actually most pedals ground the effect circuit's input when bypassed, changing the impedance that the pickups work with. This affects tone more than the few extra inches of length added to the signal path. A *true* true bypass wouldn't actually affect tone much at all, not more than adding an extra foot to your cable. But it would also cause a loud pop when the effect is turned on.
@charvel420 Well, you know more about circuitry than I do, so I'll take your word on how true bypass works.
However, I will still retain that having too many true bypass pedals WILL suck your tone.
Take a look at Omar from The Mars Volta's chain. If everything in there was true bypass, with no loops, he wouldn't have any signal left by the time he connected it to the amp.
@idontknowwhattomakem apparently you've never played a guitar or any instrument OR you don't know shit about music... 1 second of delay is a lot, also this is analog, if you want long delay notes go and buy a boss pedal, then you'll be able to get up to 23 seconds of delay!!! you have to wait 23 seconds to hear what you're playing!!! i mean... HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!????
@angusyoung98 No I don't know "shit" about music because music doesn't include shit shit is a slang term for feces, and i was just curious about how it works
@gmlasem Neither. Go with a Wampler Faux Tape Echo or an Empress Super Delay Vintage Modified. They're both more money, but they're tape based, not analog.
This pedal is amazing. Absolutely amazing, I completely swear by it. I've had it for a little over a year and have had no problem with it. Its incredibly versatile too; I use it in picked chord progressions for a spacey almost reverb like sound, lightly in solos for a little bit of taste and heavily to harmonize with scales and stuff like he does in the long delay setting. Also forsaken here is the pedal's incredible oscillation abilities of the pedal which are absolutely insane.
@TracerJP1 My vote would be the MXR Microamp - best damn volume boost pedal I have ever used and built to last. I just picked up the Carbon Copy and love it too! Tried the Micro Chorus and although it is awesome for what it does, it didn't do the light subtle chorus I like. I am probably going to convert over to more of their pedals in the future too - they need to make a pedal board like Boss does for their products!
Hey could you give me the measurements of the Carbon Copy please? I have been looking at getting one but I need the measurements of size to see if it fits on Board? Thanks
This or the Aqua Puss.....

@unhafrotcguy I'd say this. This is a little darker than the Aqua Puss, which I like

TRUE Bypass means that the pedal won't effect your tone when pedal is not in use.
This pedal is sweet easily as good as other pedals twice the price EG Maxon.

I can't decide between the carbon copy and the aqua puss. Which one would give me as close to a echoplex tape echo tone?

I tried using the slapback settings, and instead of getting a clean slapback i get a really distorted almost feedback like delay?
Asking4Disaster 2 years ago
the carbon copy I think was designed to go with distortion, so they made the delay dirty. You can change the trem pots to make it cleaner if you wish
