  • seriously, how old are you? im 16, from sweden, and i sit here laughing my ass of reading your stupid comments about what "race" is the dumbest. but still i think "buksingera" has a point, did you know 62% of the americans can't even point out their own country on a world map? i think that says a lot about a country.

  • smza0601 hahah now who's the douche bag SHITFACE!! better learn more before you speck .. AMERICANS ARE KNOWN AS A DUMB RACE., dont start acting like your smart! Nice one YUGOMIX

  • we aint dumb, just G. bush

  • Well, it takes someone EVEN DUMBER to refer to a country of people as a RACE !!

  • yea he's a fucking idiot but sorry man, one youtube fuckhead or even a billion couldnt even try to put a dent in Americas accomplishments. The only reason you have the luxury of talking shit about America is because of America. The modern computer, the internet, youtube...all 100% American!! And btw Americans arent a race you prick

  • and please tell me your not really from the philipines!!! you should be sucking our dicks in gratitude cause you'd be speaking Japanese if it wasnt for the US fucking gook

  • speek, not speck.

    haha

  • thats sad for the cars and people who feel int eh river.

  • I went by there just before christmas & reality really hit me hard! I can only imagine the chaos the moment it collapsed. I'm from Ohio, but Minnesota is home as well & I feel much sympathy for those lost & their family & friends. God Bless....

  • I just came of the other bridge thirty min. before the bridge went down

  • no u didn't

  • maybe he did

  • nuh uh

  • HOW ACCIDENTS CAN SEEM NOT SO COINCEDENTAL_FILM RITE ON TIME somebody knew-halfrican american your use of words describes your intellect--stewpid prudes!!!

  • A few sites on the Minn Bridge closed for comments. I suspect there is a lot of investigation around this incident. Last I heard 13 died, which is very low considering around 40 cars went into the water. That means alot of peole swam or were rescued, but no news on this. Must be a lot of angel stories here.

  • whatdoesitmean. com/index1026. htm

"Massive ULF 'Blast' Detected In US Bridge Collapse Catastrophe... Russian Military reports state that the total collapse of such a massive bridge, and in the absence of evidence linking its destruction to terrorist activity, could only have been accomplished by an acoustic weapon, of which the United States Military is known to possess."

  • Jesus fucking christ you people come up with the dumbest fucking CONSPIRACY THEORIES FOR EVERYTHING! America can't take a SHIT without someone saying it was Bush's fault. Now granted I'm not a bush fan, but fuck! Give it a goddamn rest!!

  • this is so sad! i am thankful that i live about an hour south of where this happened.

  • a couple days ago you could see a video without cnn logo but now it appears that cnn has been quick like a bunny and even bought up the us government videos

just my opinion, I will see if there is one not owned by cnn

  • I think the working term for that is FREE MARKET. If its good enough for unskilled Mexican laborers it's good enough for highly trained professionals too.

  • Freaks me out, because I went on that bridge a couple times... :(

  • them that collasped was fuck up i feel sorry who lost there life

  • Does anyone know what one needs to do if interested in some form of social service activities during these incidents?

  • And all while this is happening a couple of hundred million in government funds is going towards building a ballpark...

  • Are you going to take a stand and vote against the Hennepin county board who voted for that? Who asked for an exemption from referendum?

  • I am out of state. But I really am sick of military spending for created conflicts. Over a million Iraqis dead, I thought Vietnam would be the last of this crap that I would see in my lifetime, they just waited to groom another generations mindset.

  • Whats wrong with adding some socialist programs, since we already have government police (thank god it's not private yet).. Give free healthcare to the people and cut military spending to about 44 billion

  • I agree.

  • Cut Welfare to about 1 billion. You dont think there is a difference between military/police and health care? If you want free health care go live in a socialist country.

  • I'd love you to tell me that when you get sick. BTW did I mention that poor woman dying in a hospital emergency room? America is getting sad.

  • I have a job with insurance, I also save my money incase my insurance goes out. Since health care is important to me, I have chosen to save money and invest wisley vs rely on the government.

  • then I shouldnt pay taxes. IF the government cant even put lights on my street, build the roads right, or take care of my health care.. why should I pay taxes? Why should 560 billion go on military spending? I should have a right to refuse taxes then

  • No, the government should be taking care of roads, military protection, police - but not personal health care.

  • In your opinion. And as I see it they really dont take care of roads, they are probably the worst in the world... Ive been in 3rd world countries with better roads and lighting.

  • What 3rd world countries have you been in that have better roads than the US? I have been in some myself, and most of them do not even have traffic signs or lights.

  • Romania for one has better roads or equal to it. Have you been to the country side of america? How come they cant put in lights on my block when they can take so many taxes?

  • Because they are spending money on personal charity for irresponsible behavoir. If the US cut back on the charity business (welfare) and more on basic roads, military and police protection along with low taxes to stimulate growth and the economy then maybe you would have your lights. By the way, the 3rd world countries are 3rd world because they have no military and warlords and dictators can easily take control.

  • Well, I agree on cutting welfare. People who can work should work, but if you are against free healthcare then explain why they can't make it more affordable for the working man? And cut down on military funding because 560 billion dollars is too much. Russia alone spends only 25 billion. I think healthcare should be made affordable and dental care too, because as it stands it is ridiculous and the working man is broken because of it

  • I am unclear of what you mean by the "working man". The "working man" pays less taxes than the rich, and there are options. Dental Care? How about toothpaste and a toothbrush or save your money to buy your own dental care. Where should it stop? Should the government pay for clearisol for teenagers? Condoms? Abortions? Psychologists? Do you suggest we close down military bases? Lots of "working men" are on those bases.

  • You don't understand because you don't wish to understand. So you are practically saying "become non human and a robot" in order never to get your teeth fixed! Smart! Why are americans travelling all the way to cuba to get eye surgery and dental care? Because the united states, incompetent to help its own people, is forcing them to get health care in other nations.

  • Do you want to live in Cuba? Do you think you have the same opportunities there that you do here? You cant have EVERYTHING. We are not entitled to EVERYTHING. I will trade government sponsored dental care and health care for the freedom to express myself, succeed, fail, earn money (and keep it if the democrats dont take the white house). It is you who does not understand the world.

  • The only problem i have with what your saying is the free speech part , y'all don't have that anymore, try protesting and while the Us policeman are beating on the woman the other will shove his baton up your ass...so cut it with the freedom of speech cause while you were enjoying being a smartass well the US gov't took it away from y'all . So now you got the freedom to shut-up ...excercise that!!!!

  • The government took nothing away from us, you are a perfect product of liberal media, why dont you stick with Canadian issues and not weigh in with your Communistic opinions.

  • Typical smart ass american, oh by the way how much is your dollar worth now....oh right your country is about to bankrupt. cause of your way of thinking, how bout you go grow a back bone.

  • Keep dreaming bitch, how much is your GDP? Oh ok. I see People just flooding to move to Canada, or as Homer Simpson called it "America Jr".

  • Also why are people from Cuba traveling on rafts to come to the US? Maybe a socialized government isnt as glamourous as you think it would be. Have you seen the infastructure of Cuba? Why do people from all over the world want to come here?

  • Have you been to Germany? I mentioned Cuba, as poor as it is, which has a better healthcare. America, supposedly the richest country (not taking into account of how much it owes) can't provide for their people simple healthcare and free OR at LEAST affordable education. Let me know if you have been to places like Germany, Austria, where there is capitalism mixed with socialist programs which makes life hell of a lot better

  • I have been to Europe, Africa, Central America. The European economies are flat, unemployment is high, and the opportunities and standards ARE generally lower. I infact spent a year in your beloved Germany. You rip the USA, but how many times has the USA had to save the behind of all these small countries that are so superior to ours? If Europe was invaded (as it has been) what military would come to the rescue?

  • That's just because the American leadership is inept. I don't hate America or Europe. In fact, I love both. Let's try not to rip on eachother.

  • governor pawlenty says he's not gonna pay for the replacment.

  • The Cancer survival rate in England (with National health care) beyond five years is dismal. The US was rated best for cancer survival of 22 developed nations in a recent study. Cuba had to bring a Doctor in from Spain to fix Castro's bowels after his own Doctors messed it up.

  • And americans dont import doctors? That is america's greatest sin in the south american world, stealing and bringing in ready-made doctors

  • You are complaining and don't even know what your talking about , try driving on Quebec's roads, man when we hit the border we enjoy very much the quality of the roads which are 1000% better than here.

  • Great, stay there! We like capitalism here, strong defense, non socialized medicine!

  • The only way to do that is live in Canada, free healthcare, non money for military and no one suing each other either, be smart and become canadian.

  • I bet engineers all over the world are laughing, not because of people dying (that would be wrong), but at the engineering disaster. Americans can't even build a bridge right it seems.

  • The bridge was constructed in '64. Maybe some of our best future engineers were lost on the battlefields of Europe 2 decades earlier while saving 1/2 of the world from facism. You should begin every post on this forum with a heartfelt thank you to the men and women of the United States who sent their sons to die for your freedom.

  • haha.. nice propaganda.. coming to pick up the ruins maybe, when you came after Russian and other partisans liberated themselves. You saved France, hardly 1/2 of the world. And so it was constructed in 64, is that an excuse? The entire world of engineers are looking at you and thinking "god, what morons are building infrastructure." May I remind you of the big dig where 12 tons fell on a woman while driving to logan airport? Yea.

  • Economics. Rarely it's the engineers fault. But also, this steel bridge was exposed to heavy traffic maybe exceeding what event the engineer expected? Still, when fatigue is exposed it should be acted upon promptly...

  • Comment removed

  • You just demonstrated another thing: Americans lack knowledge of their own history. The bridge was designed by German-born John Augustus Roebling, not in 1967, but finished in 1867. German-born, keep that in mind.

  • 1967?! NOT OLD. its only 42 years!

  • I meant to say 1867, not 1967. Mistyped.

  • George Bush doesn't care about bridges!! Osama Bin Laden did this, the terrorists have won! Iraq is behind the collapse!! Illegals built the brigde and didn't do a good job, we must deport everyone back!! Am I close?

  • Yes since the bridge was built next year u are very close. s we all know, Osama had great powers in the US decades ago.

  • yeah Bismark...I guess norwegians havent figured out the bridges yet..they rather swim. Thank you for your knowlege and insight.

  • humanity is goina kill itself....

  • wild goobers did this.

  • Why the second collapse on this video is cut out? It is at about 00:15. Who edited this video like that and why? It looks like they are all the same, even from other TV stations.

  • is it juss me or is that lady runnin by look funny haha den she walks back ahah i feel bad for the ppl that were on the bridge tho n by the way i hate bush but the ppl who blame him for everything is stupid and make the other bush haters look stupid

  • "You're telling me they couldn't of commissioned them and possibly hoisted cars out with people alive in them?"

Are you serious? Do you honestly think those people would have still been alive by the time the crane got there? How long do you think people can hold their breath anyway?

  • Continued -

A few people died, more are missing - but that is a lot less than it would be if emergency response had not gotten on scene quickly, got people in the water, instead of messing around with cranes and trying to effect a rescue with a crane. Oh - one more thing to think about - to get the crane attached to a car, you have to have someone in the water . . . why not just use that diver to extract the victim - who cares about pulling the car out (and wasting time)

  • Continued --

In a disaster of this nature you are going to have fatalities, they can not be prevented. I know to some of you bleeding hearts out there it sounds cold and cruel - but it is a simple fact. Minneapolis emergency response was on the scene very quickly. Emergency personal were dispatched in with in acceptable time frames. In fact - I don't feel that city emergency planning is to blame at all here.

  • Just a quick comment to those that are quick to judge and really have no idea how to plan for an incident like this. I'm a trained emergency response diver (Navy trained). There are many different elements that go into a rescue (and then recovery as the case may be). Commissioning civilian equipment and getting in place in time to effect a *real* rescue just is not an option. Emergency response tries to get divers in the water as quickly as possible and get the "low hanging fruit" to safety.

  • I'm voting Communist in the next election.

  • The lack of immediate response time with the lifting of the cars is ridiculous. If there are people that died in the river (drowning) shame on Minneapolis PD and the county and the State of MN. I have yet to see a barge pulling those cars out one by one. Hell that could of been started days ago, hell 20 minutes after it happened. I just watched some woman waiting for her son to be pulled out of the water three days later. 4 to 14 feet depth (so shallow) just ridiculous!!!!!!!

  • listen you gawd damned pea brained shallow moron. The river currents are quite dangerous. They are trying to figure out how this happened. I was on 35W, I saw this bridge collapse in front of my eyes. STFU!

  • Yeah glad they were trying to figure this out when they HAD possible live people in the water. I would think someone who almost found themselves in the river would agree with my critique of the immediate dive response. There are plenty of barge crane setups all along the Mississippi river, several near downtown St. Paul. You're telling me they couldn't of commissioned them and possibly hoisted cars out with people alive in them??????????

  • your a dumbass

  • Water, smoke, debris....I think its baking soda.

Seriously, I think failures like this will continue to happen. This world nowdays does not fix or repair...

  • You got that right!

  • The whole United States if falling apart. If you drive around the older cities and most are old, it is so obvious that we need money spent here not abroad and you can throw in health care too.

  • If only we could have healthcare like England or Canada..where we can wait for months for a surgery. If you don't believe me, just ask the thousands of doctors and nurses from those countries who work here in the US.

  • I hate to tell you but the wait for procedures is increasing in the U.S. I have had many lately. They used to say come back in a few days or we can do it now. For the last few years they make me wait a month or so....we are getting there....globalization...... Third World values and procedure.

  • I think you should go have that tumor removed from your pea brain. They didn't get it all the first time. Now get back to "hating and blaming America First. It's the democrat way.

  • This is being done to play with the subconscious of Americans to keep up support for Iraq. Probably cheap unskilled labor too. Hillary will save us!

  • I heard Bush was trying to get rid of the rifle he used to assinate Kennedy (he was the second gunman in the grassy knoll) and someone on the bridge saw him so he had to blow it up. Dan Rather has a source from Amarillo Texas.

  • I know the story already.

  • There is no more America. IE. my huge local utility is probably going to be bought out by a company in the U.K. What America?

  • electric? I agree

  • As someone who has lived in Canada and the US, I feel qualified to respond to this. There is no magic answer to healthcare. However, the wait in Canada is not as long as most non-Canadians are led to believe..the "reason" many doctors choose to leave and practice in the US is because of something called capitization. Canadian doctors are only allowed to bill per patient..not per procedure like here in the good ol USA..and have a maximum amount whether the patient is "cured" or not.

  • Lets just become Sweeden. We can take home a few cents from our paycheck and the rest can go to the King or President or dictator, and we can be happy knowing that it all went for the greater good. This is the USA, we are not a socialist country, if we cut down on the 400 billion of charity we give away a year (welfare not the military). We would have more resources.

  • Most welfare is corporate welfare not public assistance. Capitalism can not function at full employment. This is a fundamental concept of the balance between inflation and employment.

  • 5 seconds for the bridge to collapse. 2 seconds before morons blame Bush. For an idiot, Bush is PERFECT when it comes to making his conspiracies flawless, not even Clinton (who was a genius) could pull that off. I heard Dan Rather has a source on why Bush blew up this bridge.

  • Thank you for confirming that Bush had something to do with it. It just figures, another inside job.

  • I gotta admit that Bush is one big piece of crap, but to tell that he's blowing a damn bridge in the middle of the USA... that's even more stupid !!

  • You seriously think that he blew it up? Where are you from, may I ask? Flordia, perhaps? It's obvious that you have no idea what you're talking about.

  • He causes hurricanes to attack black people in New orleans. He caused a tsunami..right? Isn't that what the conspiracy therorist claim? So why would blowing up a bridge in minnesota be beyond what Bush can do? Afterall you all who hate him are the ones spouting off bullshit conspiracies, I'm just joining the fun. Hmm I wonder how he got the Tacoma Narrows bridge to fall before he was born? Now that's one to ask Rosie O'Donnell

  • terrible

  • juleofdenial, you're a moron if you think this was because of the Republicans! Educate yourself first! I suggest you make yourself aware of a few facts first:

  • stupid thing is they left it till the mornin to look for people cos it was dark. Dark?!?!! people were dying!

  • $30 million for bear exhibits at the Minnesota and Como Zoos,

$12 million to renovate the Shubert Theater in downtown Minneapolis,

  • The state of Minnesota already had a $2.1 billion budget surplus. The fact is that the problem wasn't low taxes, the problem was fiscal irresponsibility.

  • stupid engineers

  • Umm.... stupid posters!

  • More of this will happen in this country. We've neglected so much here because our leaders or more interested in feathering their own nest than actually looking out for our infrastructure. And it doesn't matter if they are Republican or Democrat.

  • I would like to put this clip to music, particularly Patsy Cline's "I fall to pieces"! Any U-tubers out there willing to help?

  • People died! Wanting to make light of this is a slap in the face of all who lost their lives and their family and friends!!!

  • The state bailout of the Minneapolis Teacher's Retirement Fund, which puts state taxpayers on the hook for $972 million in unfunded liabilities,

A new $776 million Twins Stadium to be paid for with a Hennepin County sales tax increase -- (approved by state legislators with no voter referendum),

$97.5 million for the Northstar Commuter Rail line

$34 million in subsidies to ethanol producers that have seen a 300 percent increase in profits in the last year,

  • "Bridge over troubled waters"?????????

  • would you please stop using any opportunity for getting into a fight? what`s the point after all? water, dust, leaves, snow, it doesn`t matter. The idea is that the bridge collapsed and people are hurt or even dead. Start praying for those people, if you didn`t start yet. It is more effective.

  • haha fucking hilarious!!

  • You are an idiot

  • I'm glad you think its funny when people are dead, missing, and critically injured, and a major, MAJOR part of a highway doesn't exist.

    selfish bastard.

  • Ignore this guy. (dmm) hes a troll like most other people.

  • Wow! You are how old dmm1877? 31?? Why don't you pull your head out of your ass and act like it instead of laughing at other peoples misery?

  • Suddenly failure is caused due to the material were over stressed. The bridge was designed for the raffic and vehicles existing 60 years ago besides any civil contruction is designed to work for 50 years.

  • um, did you check when this bridge was made.. 40 years ago. Why would they build a bridge based off of 20 years prior traffic???

  • The news here said the bridge was checked 6 years ago and they found metal fatigue cracks but determined there was no immediate risk so repairs was not needed immediately. That is SIX years ago. Why not weld it right away? No, people have to die first.

  • they checked it last year. actually they've been checking it every year since 1990, and the cracks are there but haven't been growing.

  • When cracks are observed it is as simple as this: weld them. Just observing dangerous cracks for years are .... irresponsible? cheap? speculative? lazy? In my country, these cracks would probably be fixed in a matter of days after being discovered.. altho nothing is perfect here either.

  • You can't just weld cracks, you moron...if it was as simple as that, don't you think they would've done it? Some of them are hairline cracks you can't even see with the naked eye yet take away the structural integrity of the bridge.

You can't compare Norway with the US. The bridges in Norway are probably hardly ever used...fuck how many fucking scandinavian morons are there in this world?

  • wtf is ur problem fuckface? who invited u to come here and call me a moron! snotty little prick! They have ultrasonic devices AND roentgen equip to see cracks with, AND if not change modules or parts, can be slit open and welded. Or if the whole structure is full of them change the whole shit! now go fuck urself.

  • Your bridges are used by deer sleigh, the bridge in question was being used by cars. Cars are heavier and cause more vibration than an elk taking a dump pulling a sleigh (with bells). Ultrsound is only used to shove up a womans vagina to hear babys vibrate, not for seeing hairline cracks in bridges. Moron.

  • Come on demonstrate some more how imbesile u are. Why is it that there is alwasys ome geek making noise about stuff he has no knowledge of?

  • the cracks weren't considered dangerous. if they were, trust me, they would get immediate attention. this was one of the most used bridges in minnesota.

  • Well now we can see that they were not dangerous. IMO they should be considered dangerous immediately, because of the very reason they were there PLUS the fact that fatigue accelerates, it doesnt slow down or stop.

  • don't protect bad engineering, when you do more accidents are likely to happen in the U.S. Like I mentioned, the Big Dig which received billions of dollars.. How can you blame financing now?

  • I don't protect engineering, but much of the engineering done in the US has been both groundbreaking and a good example. I also said "rarely", meaning that oftentimes engineers don't have 100% control of the product.

  • Have you taken a look at those "good examples?" Houses made out of wood, electricity still on wooden posts... roads that can't even be compared to romania's, USA probably has the worst roads and highways (including signs and quality of roads) in the modern and below modern countries.

  • Houses made of wood have several advantages. Electricity on wooden posts are ok, we have that in Norway and the posts last 50years and are strong plus wood insulates. Worst roads and highways u will find in Norway I guess.

  • I doubt Norway can have weather compared to Florida. Why don't the residents of Florida make a similar electrical wiring that is done in say, Germany? Advantages of wooden houses in an area where hurricanes are as normal as rain in any part of the world should not have wooden houses and electricity on wooden posts.

  • Oh yes we can. Except yearly number of sunshine days. We had a hurricane where I live measuring up to 180 knots a few years back, a few houses and barns here and there blew away but the mountains makes for extreme wind "balls" that hit like fists. In some cases earth cables are a disadvantage too, they may explode or leak HT into suroundings and the connections(boxes) may be submerged in water and be damaged.. but all such must be evaluated.

  • Most houses that was damaged here was relatively new and it was shown that it was common to have used less nails for roof-plating and so on than demanded by regulations. Old wooden houses stood firm. Kind of impressing. So, anything is possible as long as stuff are built properly..

  • Hey I have an idea. Instead of spending 560 billion dollars on the military, lets bring it down to about 44 billion (which is what France invests) and use the rest of the money to build better roads, highways, infrastructure, and to build better education in USA. That leaves 516 billion dollars to work with!!! :)

  • Hey I have an idea, lets spend 44 billion on social services vs the 400 billion we spend today. That way leftys like you can have a better road to ride your bike on.

  • well, next time we inspect a bridge, I'll make sure to call you and tell all of the professionals to go home.

  • Ok.

  • lol.

  • The camera isn't focused on where this collapse first occurred. Does anybody know where the construction crew was working when this collapse happened?

  • the north side....

  • Which just so happens..the camera was on the north side facing south..lovely.

  • damn....... I.... wow..... this is just terrible. Christ, people are either hurt or killed, and now the most used bridge in the state is gone, and people will probably end up loosing jobs because they can't get to work and.... damn... it's such a mess....

  • they will have to use I-94 or one of the other streets like Hennepin, Plymouth or Broadway NE bridge instead of I-35 just to cross the river . BTW does anyone know the state of the other bridges r those safe either ?

  • I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume they're safe... but I'm just saying this because that bridge (as it turns out) carries about 25% of the traffic in and out of Minneapolis. Or, at least, that's what Wikipedia says.

  • it happened because of poor maintenance..

  • Yes, blame to the city for letting them to work

    for repair on this bridge.

  • awesome

  • man, what was wrong with the construction?

  • Look up the word entropy in the dictionary.

  • They trying to repair, but I heard about this news

that said, a construction worker using with jackhammer

that make the bridge to collapse. If I recall by

    a witness or news station.

  • it was water and smoke

  • damn pretty sad is that smoke from the rubble or the water splashing when the bridge went in the mississippi river??

  • water

  • it was both water+smoke

  • no, just water

  • water and probably some dust/debris

  • no no... just water

  • no it was also the bridge its self

  • no... just water... water is faster than dust

  • It was both so just shut the fuck up.

  • No... we're talking about what you SEE though... it's water

  • matt your a stubborn idiot, just shut up

  • No... I'm right... do you see dust?... no just water... DERRRP!

  • lol... you are right, Matt. It is just water. The weight of the bridge alone caused the splash.

It's just not plausable for smoke/debris to rise up/fly up that fast.

  • yup... now we're getting it

  • lol... that we are.

  • just ignore him and don't play his little mindless

game...he actually suffers from a personality

disorder so we s/feel a bit sorry for him. dont take

it personally cuz u know he plays this w/ other

who have the misfortune of having to come across 'em.

    just pray for him.

  • Yes.

  • sad day

  • I love you Minneapolis!
