Thank you, Lance! I love listening to you play. You bring much joy into my life through your God given talent! As a Pentecostal, we sing many of these in church. Thanks again!!
You are welcome - this is a great Hymn ! You have never heard it sung so nicely as 50 Seniors in a Nursing Home when I used to play for them on Sunday afternoons.
Absolutely wonderful, just found this one and can't stop playing it. What a great foot-tapping melody it has and you sound as though you are really enjoying playing it yourself. I got the words from my grannys' old hymnal and so can put my headphones in and sing along (and hope no-one can hear)!
We sing this song some at church. Sounds much better when you play it..but then they play it on keyboards at our church..and I have some not so favorable opinions of keyboards. They're ok if you are going from place to place and need to take it with you, but in church..nope. I think they are generally an insult to pianos and organs as well as the instruments recorded on them.
This was a very beautiffully played song. Made me very happy. The sun came out and the clouds disappeared when I listened to this song. So this is how God acts in this world.
As I'm sure you know this was written by the founder of the Salvation Army. I've heard them play it with heavy brass on street corners for a revival call sounding much like a march, Your bouncy ending sounded much like it.
@HA6425 This was definitely written by Elisha Hoffman, I'm not sure where you got your information from but I can assure you I have checked in 2 hymnbooks and it was not William Booth.
In the 2 Hymn books I have it also says that Elisha A. Hoffman wrote the words and the music but let's not dispute who wrote it - just enjoy the message and music.

I thought this was Elisha Hofmann. Wasn't William Booth the SAL ARMY founder ? If I am wrong, then I learned something new.
