  • Thank you, Lance! I love listening to you play. You bring much joy into my life through your God given talent! As a Pentecostal, we sing many of these in church. Thanks again!!

  • You are welcome - this is a great Hymn ! You have never heard it sung so nicely as 50 Seniors in a Nursing Home when I used to play for them on Sunday afternoons.

    Lance †

  • I just love the way you bounce up and down during the end verse ! Wonderful hymn, God Bless.

  • Absolutely wonderful, just found this one and can't stop playing it. What a great foot-tapping melody it has and you sound as though you are really enjoying playing it yourself. I got the words from my grannys' old hymnal and so can put my headphones in and sing along (and hope no-one can hear)!

  • Did you play this with 4 flats ? because you are more talented than me, I go down a step and play 1 sharp.

  • Yes - A flat. Thanks for visiting.

  • love this song.

  • Thank you for childhood memories! Your rendition of this hymn is awesome!

  • You're welcome, glad you liked it and thank you for visiting †

  • We sing this song some at church. Sounds much better when you play it..but then they play it on keyboards at our church..and I have some not so favorable opinions of keyboards. They're ok if you are going from place to place and need to take it with you, but in church..nope. I think they are generally an insult to pianos and organs as well as the instruments recorded on them.

Now to try that symbol † Whoa!

  • Very good! so good that i subscribed to you :)

  • Thank you - Lance †

  • Haven't heard this songin ages since I left my former church. Good old hymn!

  • I haven't heard this song for a long time since i left the church choir back in my home town were we used to sing this hymn for Lord's Supper.

Thanks for reminding me of the good old days!...

  • You are so welcome - thought you would enjoy this one ! Thanks for visiting - Lance †

  • This was a very beautiffully played song. Made me very happy. The sun came out and the clouds disappeared when I listened to this song. So this is how God acts in this world.

    God bless!

  • Yes - this Hymn has a way of up-lifting you.

    GOD Bless †

  • Very enjoyable to listen to...

  • thanks

  • Lance

As I'm sure you know this was written by the founder of the Salvation Army. I've heard them play it with heavy brass on street corners for a revival call sounding much like a march, Your bouncy ending sounded much like it.

    Cecil

  • I thought this was Elisha Hofmann. Wasn't William Booth the SAL ARMY founder ? If I am wrong, then I learned something new.

  • @HA6425 This was definitely written by Elisha Hoffman, I'm not sure where you got your information from but I can assure you I have checked in 2 hymnbooks and it was not William Booth.

  • In the 2 Hymn books I have it also says that Elisha A. Hoffman wrote the words and the music but let's not dispute who wrote it - just enjoy the message and music.

    Thank you - Lance †

  • One of the great old songs-thanks for playing it.

  • Very well done!

  • Lance - this is one of my all time favorites and you played it so beautifully - THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! Made my Day !

like your bounce on the last verse ;-)

  • You're welcome, yeah I like to bounce sometimes, I feel the music ♫ ♪ ♫
