  • Pains me to say cause I'm a man Utd fan, but this guy was a genius. If only the current English generation were as good.

  • @Ash6030 well it shouldn't pain you since you seem like a good football sportsman ship.. something alot of people lack in is respecting other football clubs, I like what unt have done threw out our bashes and our main rivals :) unt's had the best freekickers and some of the best players..and goalkeepers -liverpool fan myself but I watch many football games so I'm more to praise other teams then just go on about my own team

  • great player, epic name!

  • damn. the touch on his shots is pure class.

  • he is my fav player! the best player i've seen to don the liverpool jersey!

  • I don't think I ever realised he was that good.

  • Start of 3:22 Is the best Macca Goal I've never seen. :'(

  • damn i miss macca so much! we need someone like him so much now, downing doesn't cut it!! ynwa

  • dang, macca was a BOSS!!

  • mcmanaman was always one of my favorite players when he was at liverpool, his drops of the shoulder were perfect, proves you dont need to do a billion step-overs to beat a player. saints fan

  • cunt, left on a free.

  • @HSVIRK Lol.

  • I met him Yesterday. What an Amazing Man, Was so nice to me, shook hands with me and happily posed for a pic

  • Refereeing in the English league back than didn't give much protection to creative players, so makes his performances all that more special. Its a shame he didn't have better players around him instead of players like Glen Hysen and Gary Ablett, he may have won more trophies with Liverpool.

  • Superb Vid! Thanks, dude, the best winger I ever see!! Greetings from Perú!

  • Quien es este pavo? Si lo unico que hace es correr y cuando se la pasan a porteria descubierta marcar... Donde este Messi...

  • The only way to get the ball off him was to break his legs, he was world class!

  • Used to have a dog called Macca when he came to Madrid. Was such a good player and better person.

  • I miss seeing Fowler and Mcmanaman tearing up defences. We might not have won much back then but we were the most exciting team in the Premier League by a country mile. We haven't had stylish players like that for a while, perhaps the arrival of Suarez will change that.

  • What an English generation. McMananam, Shearer, Beckham, Ince, Scholes I could be here until I grow a beard. Now we have Crouch, Heskey, Green, Calton Cole, Barry. I feel like commiting suicide.

  • @kofipat1 Youve just quoted the best players of one generation, and the worst from another.

  • @clowthian Can you name the best players england has to offer today?

  • @kofipat1 Surely the England 1st team?

  • @clowthian The England 1st team is continuously being shuffled. They rarely win.

  • @kofipat1 And what did we win with Macca, shearer, Beckham, Ince, Scholes etc?

  • @clowthian The England team nowdays literally don't win games. With the side I had just named England made it to the semi finals of Euro 96. The England team nowdays would barely make it through the qualifiers then get beaten to top spot by a weak US side and then get knocked out by a young germany team without there captain. Everybody had expected England to do well in the WC 2010

  • @clowthian The Umbro Cup. 1997. Thats What! :)

  • great...

  • Natural talent, he used to excite me as soon as he got the ball which is more than can be said of any England player nowadays. I think it was a huge shame he never got more games in Spain.

  • Fine player he was. United fan myself but still always enjoyed watching that boy.

  • and they say he couldn't shoot!! haha

McManaman is a legend, one of our best ever!!

  • definitely the most skilled english player in the 90s. props to macca from the US

  • amazing player..i miss him so much :(

  • I don't for a minute blame Macca for leaving Liverpool and it was great to see what we all knew, he was as good as anyone in the world at what he could do.

Real fans loved him and rightfully so. Had Fowler gone abroad he be talked about in the same breath as Romario, that's how good those two scouse lads were!

  • @RafaElGaffer .lol fowler was amazing but dont be stupid. romario>fowler.

  • Celtic fan giving em the finger 2:27 lol . Love u Mc Manaman

  • Most under-rated player ever.

  • Macca playing in Spain was the best thing to happen to him. He actually had to fight for his spot. Had he continued to play in England he would have been automatically given a spot and not been challenged enough to be a better player. (And Yes I know Macca was amazing).

  • Macca, Beck', Scholes, Owen, Campbell... That was the best England ever. Miss it so much :(

  • legend! one of the few english players to be a success abroad. real fans loved him and that says alot

  • Better player than he was ever given credit for.

  • absolute legend, total gentleman. He gave us Real Madrid two Champion Leagues, thanks.

  • ตอนนี้เขามาไทยแล้ว อยากเจอตัวจริงจัง ^^

  • my favourite player ever!

  • such an underrated player, even by us liverpool fans. last good winger (bar injury prone kewell) that the club had.

  • @Beatdown2k8 kewell is the best (cos i'm from australia) but ur right he was liverpools last good winger

  • @pojomon1234 not true look at pennent he was good

  • @1987iniesta we needed neither of them at madrid especially becks, all he could do was cross and the only person who was good in the air was morientes who we loaned out then sold.....the galacticos without beckham where more than okay, wasnt directly his fault but he wasnt needed.....owen did score some crucial goals, but it meant putting figo on the bench which led to figos departure and imo figos work ethic was outstanding.....im a madrid fan so i know, its like me telling u guily was great

  • By the time I was old enough to understand football, he was never in the England team and playing in Spain where I couldn't watch him. Never thought he was that great tbh. For some reason he just never got the rep he deserved even he clearly had awesome ability. His trophy haul is pretty impressive. I know he was loved at Madrid, that means alot.

His use of both feet is phenomenal, great technique. Belters in there that if they were scored by Rooney they'd win goal of the century every time.

  • My hero, favourite player ever. Loved McManaman, had shirts with his name on. Was gutted when he went to Real, but he won the Champs League twice which he wouldn't have done at Liverpool. Will forever see him as the best.

  • @Spooner22 thats not entirely true since Liverpool won it in 2005. It would only been hypothetical since the butterfly effect suggests one minor difference in one historical event could have dramatic influence other places. Liverpool might not even have reached the final or they might have had a couple of more CL trophies, will be only speculation.

He could have become Liverpool's Giggs. He'd only be 33 the year we won CL so why not?

  • best ever england mid fielder in recent 20 years,

    speed, technique, style

    just brilliant, just charismatic

the reason I love football, the reason why I support Liverpool

comparing captain Gerrard with captain Mcmanaman,

well, I just see the difference

Mcmanaman + Fowler vs Gerrard + Torres

what am I supposed to say

  • @musicisthrough He was a good player. But scholes gerrard gazza all better players

  • from 1:08 where he picks up the ball, runs at the defender like that and turns him on the foot is just awesome. Macca you were my favourite player when i was growing up, the reason i wanted to play on the wing as a kid, and the reason i support LFC! Legend!

  • @moveyabodysquadpromo

Yes like wise i started playing on the wing cos of macca and he made me love the number 7 shirt.

  • so wish liverpool could have a young mcmanaman how we need him!

  • Smooth Cat'

  • I listen to Steve's and Ian Darke's voice nearly every week on ESPN. Good commentator, a lot better than the ones we have in the states. Good video

  • da man!!!!!!

  • He's the man that made me fall in love with liverpool.

Great player .. thanks Steve, magic number 7!!

  • Macca must be most successful English footballer that went abroad.

  • @ph0enixxx86 he sure is :-)

  • @ph0enixxx86 Lineker and Hargreaves as well

  • and to think that benfica could have had him ... :(

  • The only English footballer in recent times to win two Champions Cups, enough said.

  • Pure class. Aristocratic skills.

  • McManaman was a true genius. I doubt he'd break into a modern premiership team these days due to the fact you have to be a musclebound hulk to even be considered.

Steve had grace and true class. If he'd have played the type of free role he had at Madrid the whole of his career instead of being stuck out on the wing, people would be mentioning him among the greats.

  • @hombrerelents I thought he was given quite a free role by Roy Evans when he played 3-5-2 for a few seasons. Barnes and Redknapp in midfield allowed Mcmanaman to go forward. But then Roy reverted to 4-4-2 around 1997-ish when he started playing him on the right wing, and he wasn't half as effective. And inexplicably, on the left wing was Oyvind Leonhardsen. Christ, how good does HE look compared to some of the bilge we have in the team now!!!

  • @LordWedgewood Fair point mate. I'm thinking he was allowed a little more freedom at Madrid, but even there he had to prove his worth and was inexplicably sidelined for long periods.

Not a 'pool fan, but I'm dismayed at their plight. Neither Chelski or Citeh are real teams anymore, Arsenal (my team) don't seem capable of stepping up and I'd rather shove razor blades up my japs eye than see Manure win anything.

    Bad times.

  • @hombrerelents You shouldn't worry too much about Arsenal's position mate. Once you've paid off for the Emirates you'll have a lot more money to spend. Financially your future is secure. UEFA's new financial fair play rules will keep City out of Europe, and who knows when the Arabs will get bored of their plaything. United are also going downhill. I hope NESV can emulate the business model set up at Arsenal, these latest results are bloody depressing.

  • @ph0enixxx86 I think you need to give Roy time. The situation was eroding morale and it's all come to a head. It's essentially still Benitez's team and losing Mascherano was a huge blow. I think you're going to need to offload the Lucas's and Ngog's and probably get yourself some proper cover for Gerrard and Torres (if he stays!).

Unfortunately for us,'Wengerball' has been sussed out by the big teams. It needs a world class centre-forward to work and we only have one 20% of the time.

  • World-class player, it's with his help that Real Madrid had so much success !

McManaman, Fowler, Gerrard will always be in my LFC all-time gr8 team

  • stevie mac, what a player!

  • quality winger we could do with him now....we havnt had a decent winger in 10 years

  • awesome player, I wish they played him more often in real Madrid back in the day

  • he is the reason i play football...miss you macca

  • Great

  • Grande McManaman!!!

  • lol i guess this is the dude david villa got his inspiration from

  • @Hallaladies Are you kidding?

David Villa is the "garbage" attacker. He can only score on 1on1 chances the other players create by great build ups. Rest of his goals are 1on0 when he hits a rebound after a teammates missed chance.

McMenamin was an actual footballer. LOL.

  • "karate kid" steve Mcmanaman

  • Genial!!!!

  • Much better than Beckham

  • i don't know about you guys but i still remember macmanaman. I still remember heguera back, figo and mac up made the madrid alive.

  • I used to love steve like. and robbie for manner ..class. why did heskey have to go and ruin it all.

  • thas the white pele not rooney, great footballer mr steve

  • EL MEJOR PEDERSTA KE HA JUGADO NUNCA EN UN CAMPO!

  • @elgaydemierdajijix5 porque pederasta si se puede saber ?¿

  • The move at 1:21 is absolutely ridiculous...and the fact that he had the composure to keep the ball and dish an assist on a platter is amazing. What a quality player that I really knew so little about until looking him up.

  • one of the best winger EVER

  • Massively under appreciated at Liverpool, only wish we had a winger like him in our youth ranks right now

  • god was he a great player

  • He was the best Liverpool Winger!

  • I wish more English players went to Spain to play, the England team would sure reap the benefits.

  • Comment removed

  • what a professional

  • God.... what a player! Forget how many amazing goals he scored. England could really do with someone taking on players like him now.

  • 1:20 was so bad ass!

  • world class. never knew he was this good, fucking beautiful.

  • so sad. the old times i remember real madrid ronaldo raul figo mcmanaman carlos ziadan hierro helguera salgado morientes guti

  • @K8KA I think the same. That was football, and that was Real Madrid. I specially miss Roberto Carlos, Raul and Zidane

  • @K8KA makelele

  • Damn he was good.

  • I'd forgotten what a class player he was. You barely seem to see people running with the ball at defences in the Premier League anymore.

  • "im haring rumours might want to sell pipita and get another waste in rooney" those are the words you typed. please show me where i was wrong. you = #FAIL

  • Mi jugador preferido desde que tengo memoria.

  • If you only ever saw these clips you'd think he was the greatest player ever. He wasn't as he was very inconsistent and injury prone, but he was a good dribbler, was Shaggy.

  • he really has been one of the best players in europe and not only for the goals but in his midfield playing because when they don´t work he makes it got well and he never failed passes

  • Thank you steve for your spectacular football.

  • 2:20 he scores a goal from midfield!!!

Unusual I think for the english game, great goal though, good player

  • Steve McManaman, twice the man you'll ever be.

  • could be the best England winger ever

  • A true real madrid legend.

  • @whoiszizou better than any english player who played for our club , maybe besides the late great lauri cunningham( cos i never saw him play). beckham owen and woodgate if you ask me where all massive flops........i pray we never sign any english player cos of them. mcmanaman was fantastic, maybe a lil inconsistent but fantastic

  • Pure quality

  • Excellent player, to me the best and most gifted offensive (goals and assists impact) English player since Waddle/ Gascogne. Greetings from France.

  • Mcmannaman Fowler vs Gerrard Torres, what gets your vote?

  • @peterjakey Ooh you bastard... No comment lad!

  • Why Macca wasn´t in the England 2002 world cup squad when we never had a left winger and played Emile Hesky I´ll never truely understand.

  • spaceman - me niether! there has been some terrible selections in the last decade for England and leaving out Macca is right up there

  • love him! great player, think liverpool have not had a winger as good since he left to be honest! gave all liverpool and madrid fans some great memories!

the chest and volley against newcastle was my favourite!

  • Him and Fowler, legends.

  • he was the only one useful english player that played in madrid but sam as always fucker perez sold him like he did to hierro, morientes, helguera, carlos, he came back now and he is tryig to sell idol raul. Thatdumbass president didn't learn his lesson.

  • @george77793 i just hope the idiot does not sell higuain, sold macca and brought that waste becks,,,,im haring rumours might want to sell pipita and get another waste in rooney, i hope its a lie........perez needs to think wit his brain and not his checkbook. hala madrid

  • @el84oro rooney a waste? 20+ goals a season is a waste? idiot

  • @ShawySWFC i posted an earlier comment about english players who had played for us( real madrid) and though they might have been good they were all besides mcmanamman ( and maybe cunningham , i wasnt born when he played) wastes for us, hence the use of the word another.rooney is no waste, hes fine at united and thats where he shud be wudnt want him at real and neither wud he want to come simple...no need for insults, cabron

  • @el84oro I can thinks of a few Spanish wastes. De la Pena and Mendieta spring to mind. Before Fabregas and Torres the Spanish were all failures in foreign leagues.

  • @RanpatMcMurphy ohh de la pena i remember him was too inconsistent, did score a good goal against barca last season and since i dont like barca tht pleases me.u also remember de pedro? had one amaaaazing season at soceidad when they pushed us to the end for the liga title.....im not saying english players r bad or anything like tht im just sayin i prefer players who r suited to playing in that league thn others....u r right i really cantr think of a spanish player who succeeded outside spain

  • fenomenaaaaall trabajoooooo

  • Legend

  • Some amazing goals there macca...Olden day Kaka

  • the only english underrated player... fuck florentino perez!!

  • @edify88 perez wasn't the guy who bought him genius...well no one did i guess, coz he came to madrid for free lol.

  • @kosovanwhizkid he actually came before perez's term. the goal he scored at the ucl final aginst valencia was when sanz was the president of real madrid.......perez came a year after mcmanaman and signed figo

  • @el84oro I know that, I actually said that.

  • grande macmanaman uno de los mejores jugadores ingleses GRACIAS POR ELIGIR JUGAR EN EL REAL MADRID!!

  • Comment removed

  • id five my liver and kidneys to see macca tear the wings up for liverpool just what they need a scoring midfielder fuk all the boys their atm with exceptions lyk torres stevie benayoun but macca was fab natural classy winger who was good enough to play for madrid and become the most successful englishamn abroad fucking legend man

  • people go on about gerrard and torres... mcmanaman and fowler were just as good a strike partnership... how we could do with macca now instead of that idiot babel ... great video btw

  • Macca Is To Me GOD ... I play as like him when i was younger ... he is my HERO !

  • Lets not forget. He fucked off on the bosman so he could command big wages off madrid. We ended up getting fuck all for him. The man is a cock.

  • lol u know jack shit m8 he shook hands on a deal to stay at anfield only to have the board take a look at his new contract an was offerd a much lower pay package, he was staying! he never wanted to leave

  • Then he played like a twat. Thought he was bigger than the club, our club. The man is a cock.

  • Why is that being a cock? People are entitled to see out their contracts and move on with their careers with the contract runs out...If Liverpool wanted money for him they should have sold him while he still had value...

  • Shaggy didn't go to Madrid for wages tho he went for medals which he got so you can't really blame him, he won La liga and champions league there so to say it was for money is unfair. The LFC board were to blame for not selling him earlier on for a fee.

  • @cloggerhoo it wasn't for wages u dick, it was so he could go a win other things; which he did, la liga, cop del rey, champions league etc etc.

  • Macca! He and Fowler ripping up losers. Those were the days.

  • was steve McManaman starring on "Notting Hill" ??

  • Most underrated player ever

  • This is deadly. Cheers for putting it up. If only Liverpool had a Macca in the squad now, we'd be flying.

  • And which is the Champions' League Final goal? (against Valencia)

  • @BaldricksInferior yeah, the half voley/ bicycle kick, to make it 2-0 (wont 3-0 on the night), that was in 2000.

  • I love the Celtic fan sticking two fingers up at Macca at 2:27. Shows what a great goal it was.

  • Similar to Chris Waddle IMO. Top quality players!

  • great player

  • legend!

he is now executive director of Grandtop International Holdings... so he founded success beyond football!

  • one of the best to wear the red of liverpool

  • good player.

  • Macca - most UNDERrated English player of all time... he went to Madrid fought for his place, didn't play as often as he should but SHONE brighter than any English player in history at a foreign club.

    LEGEND

  • Madrid is a graveyard for english players. Owen, Beckham are other examples. Although dutch players also cease to play there.

  • So underrated in world football. The guy was miles better than Giggs and truly world class. Not out of place with galacticos. Wish we had him and God now.

  • please tell me you're joking!

  • At the time he shat all over Giggs. Obviously later on Giggs came into his own, but playing with far better players. And the Madrid fans loved him.

  • wow never heard of this guy... but his ballcontrol and superb finishing is absolutely amazing :D

  • his cross and passing were even better

too bad, he was under the shadow of David Beckham,

When beckham became starter he left Man U

WHne beckham came to Real Madrid he left from real

  • He played for Liverpool, not United.

  • Macca was a Liverpool player, not United. Thank God.

  • he left liverpool for madrid for FREE....wtf

  • great footballer , didnt really get the recognition he deserved

  • Macca!!!!!

  • wonderfull

  • B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L

  • brilliant player. his every goal is little peace of art. respect form croatia!

  • he will always be the reason i fell in love with football..THANKS MACCA!!!
