  • PLEASE notice to buy CRUELTY-FREE BRUSHES.

Many Makeup Brushes are from killed animal fur.

    - Chinchilla, fox, mink, raccoon, horse, pony, camel or goat, and china's dogs and cats hair, so many times out of trapped and horrible tortures.

In China millions of animals are tortured and killed for their fur

The type of hair that brushes are made from is rarely printed so it is difficult to know what a brush is made of. Please Make an effort to know. Thanks

  • Thank you helped so much.

  • how do you keep your brushes clean?

  • Just washing your brushes in warm water with a soap that's not-too harsh will work. Make sure you get all of the makeup out. I usually wash them at night so in the morning they'll be nice and clean and dry. =]

  • you can get the brush cleaners at a lotta places.

    i'm using the mac one.

you just clean your brushes with it once or twice a week.

  • can you please make a quick video on using the angled eyeliner brush, i really need to know how because my eye lashes always make it difficult

  • You are awesome! I wished I subscribed to you earlier. The other make up tutorials confuse me a lot, because they kinda all talk about mac numbered brushes. I'm a beginnner and I love your tutorials. I just put in my E.L.F. order yesterday. Thanks a bunch. =)

  • cool vids!!!!

  • the angled ones are great! i do use it for both contouring and for applying blush. also it gives me more control when applying blush. i definitely recommend it

  • Thank you sooo much!

  • this is going to probebly sound really wierd but i was just wondering could paint brushes be substituted for makeup brushes? like the ones you would find at say a Michaels or Hobby Lobby or walmart, places like that? since they have so many different kinds and shapes i was just wonderin if they would serve the same purpose?

  • surprisingly, you can! Just make sure they are extra clean!

  • yes, but mostly people use those paintbrushes for cosmetic glitters and such. because the makeup brushes are too flimsy and the glitter might ruin the quality (:

  • If anyone wants to try the ELF products then the UK site is doing free delivery this weekend only so might be a good chance to try it out. Just go on the ELF UK site, I'm not sure if the US site is doing the same promotion. I bought some brushes after watch Xteeener's videos and they are pretty good but don't buy the eyeliner, its really bad. Hope you enjoy.

  • sänkju for sharing.! I learned a lot.

  • thanks for this tutorial. really learned a lot.

  • I've totally gotten into brushes from watching you use yours- thanks for the videos and tutorial~~

  • Do you have a link to the website of where you got the first brush on this video?

  • thxs so much can u tell me how to clean brushes cuz sometimes just dusting it off does'nt work and some that get wet get ruined so if u know any good ways plz make a video with that in it and send me a link or send me a message how =D ^ _ ^

  • is this maggie?

im sorry, you just have a very similar username to somebody i know named maggie.

  • can you do a video on how to keep your hair like that? i do that hairstyle a lot but it nvr looks as good as that. can you show us?

    thankss

  • what do u think about the fan brish for your blush??? i have one, but not sure how to use it. x0x0x0

  • The angled "Blush" brush is better for a Contor brush...

  • where did she say she got that eyeliner brush from again? i couldnt catch it.

  • Rewind the video..

  • i did... i still cant catch it.

  • Sonia Kashuk brand at Target.

  • The lip color you're wearing in this video is soo pretty! What kind is it?

  • hi xteener,

How do you clean the colors off the brush in order to use it for different colors? Thanks

  • I don't know how she does it but I usually just brush them back and forth on a tissue until most of the colors come off the brush and the old colors wouldn't transfer, but I guess another way could be a wet wipe. That's if you want to use the brush again immediately.

  • well, thanx for your response. Cleaning with a tissue is what i've done so far, but the colors, especially dark and shimmery eyeshadow, won't be totally cleaned so easy. I'm afraid to try wet wipe though...hmmm

  • I've been using it and it's rather good. You just have to let your brushes air a bit and try not to get them too damp I guess.

  • Umm, No if you go to MAC or any drugstore, You can pick up a thing called Brush Cleaner. You spray it on and leave it for a few mins till it dries. It you have cheep brushes...I would stick to wet wipes just incase..I am not too sure about cheeper brushes cuz i don't really own any...And the Brush cleaner is cheep, like 5-10 bucks. :D

  • use a brush shampoo...they aren't that expensive even the one that I got at Sephora

  • You are the most helpful person everrrr :D !!

I've been really confused about which types of brushes I should get. Thanks for the info! :D I'm definately looking into buying a lot of the brushes, especially the kabuki :D

  • I have the same Estee Lauder brush :)

    It's fab! xoxo

  • I love the fact that you dont show MAC brushes or any other higher end brushes for a beginner's set. Not everybody can afford MAC brushes. Thanx a lot!!

  • thank you sooo much for this, it's nice to just see someone down to earth giving people tips. you have recommended the E.L.F. and I think i'm going with them. Thanks!

  • i absolutely love your videos b/c you keep it real and you're so genuine. youre not just here to show off your mac collection like most people on youtube, you actually care about the people who watch and want to help so thank youu!=]

  • agreed! i'm glad you're mainly using drugstore products because it's inexpensive and easy to find. :) thanks!

  • ohh nice brushes,..I need to get new ones

  • thanks! i went to eyeslipsface and bought a set of brushes just now. really cheap, only a dollar each. :D

  • the magenta/pink brush is a shisedo brush, im pretty sure i have it also. and about 7 other ones, i got it as a free gift.

  • so the cream shadow your wearing in this video is the line from wet n wild..im ganan go and check it out;.

is it bette then the cream shadow by loreal(the quads)??

  • Thanks for this video!! I really needed some information on brushes!

  • i have the samn kabuki brush from cvs, it is the greatest kabuki for the price! just like you said! and its very soft which is a plus. i didnt expect that quality from a drugstore brand so i was shocked. ;)

  • thanks for the video.

  • I really love all of your videos! <33 Keep it up!

    :]]

  • Thanx for this;) Brushes are important...and I really felt like investing in a set maybe from Saphora or something similar - I only have one big and two small at the moment. Using the same make up brush for compact powder and sunpowder/blush isn't really working!

Your run down was great for inspiration! Thanks;)

  • I swear I left a comment! And I thought I did on another video too...what the heck?! lol :P

How is that blush brush btw? I hope it's alright. I need to get some more shadows brushes, I have like 2, lol.

Thanks for the video! I like the Estee Lauder brush handles :)

  • Hi,

I want to know that cute little one........is it an angled liner brush or just a flat liner brush?

    PLMK! Thx a lot!

    D

  • I just got a set of ecobrushes...I think thats what they are called. They are environmentally friendly if that makes sense hehe, I'm a big go green girl. They are so soft and only cost about 12 something at fred meyers

it comes with a blush brush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, concealer and eyebrow/lashes. I thought it was a pretty good deal and the quality wasn't that bad. Check it out :)

  • ohh.i prefer animal hair brushes =)

sythetic can be a bit scratchy

  • i think it's great that you did this. i was utterly confused when i first started with brushes. kudos. ur voice is so calming. i really enjoy your vids.

  • i couldn't really put my finger on it.. but you got it.. her voice is really calming! =)

  • I have that same retractable kabuki and it works wonders! Hehehe! I also thought it was a lil pricey but hey ya gotta love it! :) Great video!

  • thanks this was helpful

  • I think they work as well as high quality makeup brushes, I mean a painters brushes are made of sable bristles sometimes or you could use the synthetic ones too. Sometimes makeup brushes especially the cheap ones irritate my face but not the paint brushes so idk it might just be me.

  • You know what it might sound stupid but I use artists paintbrushes as makeup brushes too and they work prettty well and they tend to be less expensive! I use the really skinny detail brushes for my liquid eyeliner and it gives me the thinnest line ever!! But your makeup looks soo pretty in this vid!

  • u no i have thought of that sooooo many times but never tried it do they work as well as normal makeup brushes??

  • Me too! They're high-quality just like makeup brushes, and you can find them in art store bargain bins (just with, say a nick in the wood or a broken handle, which I trim off anyway) for like, a dollar, versus up to thirty for a makeup brush!

  • oh i think im the 1000th view! ^^ you have elf stuff? can you pleassee do a review on elf products? THANK YOU!

  • Thanks- that was very helpful. I have the same eyeshadow brushes as u. WHat eyeshadows are u wearing in this video?

  • how do you clean your brushes? do you just use tissue?

  • This is how I clean my brushes: 1)rinse them under a faucet with warm water 2)squirt a bit of handsoap/baby shampoo in your palm 3)add enough warm water to your cupped palm 4) gently squirl (don't jab or be rough b/c you'll ruin the bristles) the brush into the soapy water 5) repeat with new soap/water until no more makeup comes off the brush 6) rinse your brushes out thoroughly with water 7) press them gently against paper towel/toilet paper to remove water 8) let dry over night

  • for step 4, I meant "gently swirl"

  • Oh, and I wash my brushes weekly b/c I have acne prone skin and this helps prevent breakouts.

  • THANKS SO MUCH!!:D

  • you so pretty :(

  • i love the way you look here. so pretty!

  • I'm one of those who've been asking for a make up brush overview! This was very helpful...thanks!

  • i'm sorry I'm using my husbands name on Youtube, so yeah i got alot of my brushes in sets from walmart and they work great expecially for travel b/c if i loose them i'm not really too upset

  • walmart has a great giftset of nothing but eyeshadow brushes thats where i got alot of mine expecially the ones i use for travel

  • Where did you get your thinner blush brush?

  • What a coincidence, my friend and I were thinking about buying brushes today but we had no idea what to get. Haha thanks!

But do you know anything about lashes? Are there brushes for those? Or combs (& for brows too)?

  • You can use an old, clean mascara wand to remove clumps and a new toothbrush to groom your brows. Or, you can buy a eyelash comb/eyebrow brush 2-in-1.

  • Ooh thanks, those ideas sound really great!

  • The most comprehensive makeup brush overview ever.

  • Wow yu're so amazingly beautifulll.

You dont even need make up.

    But this was very helpful.

    Thanks so much!

  • u look so sweet

  • Great video I need more brushes...LOL

  • Great stuff! (: TY~

  • awesome!
