i had no idea there was more to iran than women getting stoned to death for mere accusations of adultery from their husbands, people being hanged for homosexuality, women having no human rights whatsoever, and only exist as complete property of husbands/ brothers or fathers, whom are free to beat them, rape them or even kill them anytime they want to without facing any criminal persecution
Though your sense of sarcasm is appreciated, it is also rather ignorant to paint a culture with 7000 years of history with a single stork of the brush based on some of the religious fanatics living there.
Oh yes, the concept of stereotyping, generalising and spewing ignorant BS based on fox news and cnn propaganda truly appeals to me.

This movie is NOT the best movie ever made, but it does give another face to the real Iran--not the hype from the nutball media we have in this country--and is a beautiful movie that tells a complex story told with richness and depth, even though some of the symbolism is a little too obvious for me.
I have not seen alot of American movies that can have me in tears like this one. It will touch alot of people even though it is not an English movie. I hope alot of younger kids watch this movie becasue it can make alot of American kids a little wiser.
@GuateVEGAN Another amazing film, in a similar vein, that truly made me cry, is The Buddha Collapsed Out Of Shame. With another child that takes you by the heart. Incredible as well, that both films are made in nations that were once populated entirely by Caucasians, and which were ruined by Arab/Muslim invasions, and later Arab/Turkic/Mongol miscegenation!
@TheRazecah I utterly refute that weak phrase "racist", which is alway and only applied to Whites. When in fact there is far more coming from the others. ALL discussion of race is 'racist'! Some Arabs MIGHT be Caucasoid, but by and large Arabs are of course Semites. They are (no longer?) Caucasian, and they are not White. We Whites have far more in common with pure Iranians. Tell me what it is that you think I'm "ignoring"? Because I'm not ignoring a darn thing!
@GuateVEGAN This is the first movie I ever cried in. It wasn't just tears, it was BIG, sloppy uncontrollable sobs. It's a visually gorgeous, emotionally rich film.
La interprectacion de Mohsen Ramezani ( MOHAMMAD )es sencillamente insuperable, no le dieron un oscar a este muchacho que no tiene nada que envidiar a Dakota Fanning.?
I am sure, that you need immediately a therapy (psychological).because if this movie have not touch your heart,so you are not a human! it is not a religious movie!!!it is just a conversation between human and his God!the God is not the same like in church or mosque.the director is trying to say, every body feels the God,bud not in the same way....or with the same instrument!
Wow, I saw your comment after i posted basically the same one. It's nice to see someone else who was touched as much as me.This is as close to perfection as filmmaking can come in my opinion.

Then: The Color of Paradise
for me personally, that was so touching and deeply respectful as was this entire film which was a letter of thanks to the beauty that God has offered in the form of Nature and a blind boy who sees it. (Sorry to get all religious...)
What u wrote doesn't have anything to do with religion, I truly admire what u understood from the movie :) It's BELIEVE... Believing the beauty, believing and embracing our moments to be alive, to observe.... , which Andrei Tarkovsky was always struggled to image.:)
A very great film. In the West is contrastingly produced arid, lifeless films, that don't understand the nature of film. The West's ( speaking in broad terms) films are not art. i really like mr. majidi's films. about a month ago, i was his interpreter when he came to malaysia. during the 3 days with him, i learnt a lot. he even told me his experiences during the film making. he is very kind hearted man and humble. i hope i will work for him again in the future. be omide didar, aghaye majidi!
When I first laid my eyes on this film one spring morning of '04 I realized how wonderful good filmmaking could become. Seeing this humble boy and his troubled father struggle with life as they had it, without direction, later finding eachother at a crossroads in a sad ending, was so moving. In the end, the film is able to remind that life is purposeful however challenging, when though being blind we seek to find the colors of God's paradise.
Oh my God¡¡....What a beautiful movie, amazing work Mr.Majidi...Once again i felt in love with your films, so delicate, so deep, so innocent.........tears come out. Thanks¡¡

agreed. when i first saw it i thought it was filmed in europe. all of the scenery is filmed in northern iran. most of the people iran want what you and i and anyone else: good family, jobs, religion, and so forth.
