hahah this is the funniest video i've ever seen! Love that kid! =p I didn't know it was possible to dance with this music on the background... =p Kids shows us impossible is possible
Where did this album COME from?? It seems like "Hello Hurricane" is still brand new, and now all the sudden they have another album out, which I didn't even hear about until after it was released....
*Tells a random story* "This song has nothing to do with surfing or VW Bugs, hope you enjoy it." LMAO :) Does anyone know what the point of that story was? Because I have no idea haha :D
i loved switchfoot from the very beginning,,but this song mad my soul happy,i just dont know why....theyre the best...and they had a filipino member too...im just so proud to be a fan of this band...
the kid just couldnt stop jamming thru out the whole sing..congrats switchfoot for you new album..
beautiful song...and if I was one of the band members there, i wouldnt have been able to play my instrument due to tears from laughing so freaking crazy at that kid! LOL
That kid is not trash, he is adorable, and you are jealous cause you can't dance like him. I wish I could dance like that in front of the whole church...haha.
@Mattthechef5589 i dont live in USA so could you let me know about what month the cd will be released?? cuz summer here is in december what about there??
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! LOL KID!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! hahahahahaahah!!! hahahahahahahahhahha!!!!! pleaseeeee!!! SOMEBODY TIE THAT KID ON A CHAIR!! hahahahahaha!!!!
Great song. Very inspiring. The lyrics go well with the music and on top of the great song the kid dancing makes it even better. The music is moving his heart to dance, so he is just letting it go :). Beautiful.
Those lines made me think about what John Hurt's character said in the film Shooting Dogs/Beyond the Gates about the Rwandan genocide: "Where is God in everything that is happening here and all this suffering? I know exactly where he is. He is right here. With these people. Suffering. His love is here. More intense and profound than I have ever felt."
I think the "Where is God in..." lines are more addressing his doubts than anything. We, as Christians, have doubts. We're people like everyone else. To me, he's asking the tough questions. That's what the whole song is about. Asking tough questions.
@WingedWriter318 The Song is called Vice Verses, kinda like saying Vise Versa, which means it can go both ways. So Vise Verses maybe mean the verses go both ways. We ask God where he is when all these things happen, but it can go the other way by asking ourselves, "Where are we?" When stuff happens, do we do anything about it, or just let God deal with it. God is always there when that stuff happens, the only thing is that he is there through you, he uses you for his wonderful works. =) GodBles
"Where is God in the nice guy? Where is God in the city light? Where is God in the earthquake? Where is God in the genocide? Where are you when my broken heart Everything seems to fall apart Everything seems rusted over Tell me that you care" You Jon Foreman/Switchfoot Christians never seem to take into account the amount of doubt this man has. Granted: "I know there's a meaning to it all A little resurrection every time I fall" The man definitely connects with Job and The Preacher, though.
to me, Jon Foreman is the modern day C.S. Lewis. His lyrics show him to bee absolutely in love with his savior, aware that true salvation is perpetual, but what he doubts are the people that use God as an excuse. when you personally realize how good God is, it's hard to except other people just not getting it
I agree he doubts people who use God as an excuse ("Instead of a Show", "Equally Skilled", ), but that doesn't show itself in this song.
Look at all the "Where is God"s. One would assume the person "strolling along the hide tide line" and "looking for signs in the night sky" is the person asking "Where is God...". One could also assume that this person is a reliable narrator, and at least representing a part of Jon Foreman.
I'm not saying he's not in love with Jesus (although, from my exposure to his work, he hardly states it explicitly).
Perhaps the question "Where is God" (in the part of the song quoted above) is asked by a person, in order to remind themselves that God is definitely in all those things, and we just have to look more diligently.
my username is a joke (i love twisted humor and satire). I'm a huge beatles fan, and so saying Yoko is Satan it's making fun of people who try to put a face on the devil and fight wars (public and private) to defeat the great satan. even if the "great satan" is a society that doesn't operate exactly like we do
that's what I mean. if we're suppose to be God's representatives here, then what kind of God are we portraying? we're like ambassadors, and to people like Jon (and myself) if people want to know "where is God?" then we don't show them well. and, being a songwriter myself, I know few songs are about one central theme. so it could be a mixture of both
@almostblue22 - FYI the lyrics for "Instead of a Show" are from Isaiah 1 (and/or Amos 5) and "Equally Skilled" is from Micah 7... so technically they are not Jon's words. Granted, he wrote a song to go along with the scripture, so he is agreeing with it. But those are God's words!
@almostblue22 The amount of doubt the man has is what draws us to him. He asks the same questions many of us are left asking. Its good to know that there are people like us out there.
I must say....that kid is pretty hard core....I am probably way jealous....... yeah not even probably.....Him being there and not me = insane jealousy haha
despite so many people hating on that kid. it's actually quite fitting. seeing him lost in this song that borders on hypnotizing. it reminds me of the little girl from the Blind Melon video for 'No Rain' back in the 90's. Wonderful!
I think I'm most Excited about this song rather than the other ones, and considering I'm more of a Rocky Person... but then again i do like alot Acoustic kind of Stuff...
So I guess this is likely to be how the album version will be. Or at least similar. I don't know, I guess whenever I hear one of Jon's songs for the first time, I like that version best. I happen to like the one of him playing it live for the first time at Tim Curren's event. But this version is definitely awesome =)
That was an amazing performance. And the guys just LOVED that kid. Jon even said that he's his hero! The only downside was that it was FREEZING cold and my mom had a massive headache. We had to leave as soon as it was over. :( I felt bad for my mom, she did not feel well or get to enjoy the concert as much as she had liked to
I was actually at the Auction, and Jon Foreman said that he's awesome. He may not be a good dancer but he likes doing it, and people like him doing it.
yeah sorry people i was in a bad bad mood :(. i'm really not mean i was just trying to watch the video and theres this kid dancing in front of them. it would of been alright if i was there but in a video its kinda different. sorry.
