Love the song that was a cute remix :D. I don't think people realize that changing AI, adding new zombies, and effects can cause a lot of bugs and problems when you try and do it over stuff thats already been polished. There would have been tones of bugs most likely if they had done it to L4D1 and people would have whined about that. Plus I remember around L4D2's release L4D1 was starting to lack its fun cuz people would just get in corners and melee spam, it ruined versus.
I lol at the boycotters. There is nothing wrong with L4D2, and honestly I like it more than L4D1, mainly because of the characters. I love Ellis and Nick. That aside, love the video aswell. I didn't get the title til the song started. Very well done
Dazzling! That was AMAZING! I have to wonder if this game is worth picking up!? I haven't decided if I'm going to purchase it, but I am going to get it! ;) I heard of this incredible place that is offering free copies, take a look
Which sentiment is that? L4D2 is awesome? Or lawling at boycotters? 'Cause the boycotters thing was mostly just to fit the vibe of the song (the bee sting to my zombie greatness if you will).
The boycotter thing. I'd love to own L4D2, but I still can't bring myself to agree with the uncharacteristc haste with which Valve have rushed out L4D2, and while I was a huge fan of the first game, I'm not fond of some of the creative directions they've chosen.
As a mere consumer, I don't get a lot of tools with which to make my voice heard on these things.
Valve have the right to do whatever they want to do with their game, of course. Just as I have the right not buy it if I don't agree.
Oh most certainly...I understand the viewpoint, and do not particularly hate on people who have it. I had hoped to show some of the reasons why the second game is such a worthy improvement on the first with this video. It IS ridiculous amounts of fun and I can tell you the large number of programming changes they made definitely could not have been applied to L4D1. The location, which was my primary beef when I first heard, actually has a lot of character and love put into it.
@TheTurnipKing I agree that they did make the game in haste, they should have put more time into it. But I still own and LOVE L4D2, just not as much as the original. =)
Thank you! I have some stuff up on newgrounds in the hopes of partnering up with some flash artists...but newgrounds has no 'soundtrack' genre, so everything's listed under misc. Kinda hard to find work that way, but ah well. Thanks for the comment!
I love the sample you used, or did you record anyone? I make a lot of stuff, no singing, lyrics, just beats, hip hop, and trance music. I'm curious what you used to make this, FL Studio, Qbase, Cakewalk, etc etc?
Well done by the way, and your voice is fine, I could make you sound very very good. Output your lyrics to two mono tracks then import them and put a small delay on just one, you'll be amazed. It's basically a blueprint for recording voice. Or send me the tracks, I filter, send it back
You may have already done this, but the vocals are already wet with a filter so I can't tell if at all to what extent, but if you did already, work it a bit more!!
Hey there, I took it easy on the effects because though I have a good mic, my audio input on my computer has a nasty noise floor (on TOP of any room sound). It's a nasty one that can't be filtered out with EQ or somethin', believe me I've tried. I'm actually an audio graduate, but I appreciate the offer for help. :) I might try to re-record the vocals at some point once I get an audio interface, but it takes a lot of takes for me to get it right. XD
Ah okay you're not using a midi interface, you're recording directly into FL? I've done that, used to do it before I finally had the money and grabbed an M box, Mic and Pro Tools in a package deal..so expensive, especially back then, I was amateur and it's tough to kick out $1,500 on audio equipment, but boy it pays off.
Considering how you did it, heh, fantastic, I'd assumed you had a interface and everything, I'm impressed even more, must have been hard to clean up the noise, been threw that!
I have a HD Zoom with the line out going right into the computer yes....I would have recorded on the zoom away from the computer noise, but I was unable to find my usb cable at the time. Plus I needed to be able to hear both the music and myself, which is tricky away from the PC. I record into Sony Vegas, which I also use for mixing...not incredibly high end sound out of there, but hella cheaper than pro tools and when I can afford it, I can just pick up some good plugins for mixing. :)
I used FL Studio with Garritans Personal Orchestra and some random drum samples from old school projects. :) Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it to the point of taking a personal interest in its parts!
Absolutely, I produce and do things myself, so I have that ear for the subtle things, man that sample is just kickass, if I had it in my ridiculously large library of samples..lol I'd be using it "right now"! Just perfect, I'm always looking for that type of sound, and you hit it on the nail. Especially letting it play on flat for those moments before it really all comes together, that shows talent, you definitely know what you're doing, well done.
Heh, no worries, I've typically always done that as well. I'm just not sure what you mean by 'sample'...do you mean the music itself, or something in the music? The music I pieced together myself, though I was going back and forth with a jazz midi version I found for some help...I'm not really much of a jazz musician.
Okay when I'm talking about the sample I'm diggin' so much, what I'm talking about is basically the sound you used for the entire track. Here to make perfectly easy to see, I'm gonna have a listen and explain exactly where you use it best. Because, well you use it the entire time, but in the intro of the song, you go up and down a few octaves with it, but at exactly 25.5 seconds you go flat, and let the sample repeat 4 bars before you come in singing, it's "that" exact sound I like so much :)
It may in fact not be a sample, just clever use of drums and the piano, separately, regardless that's the sound I like so much. I can never find samples of this quality and find I spend more than half my time composing the sounds I use, which is a lot of work but I guess in the end it feels good to compose along with all the rest. Sometimes I let my friend Kenny mix my stuff, for fresh ears, and he's an incredible audio engineer and knows things I'm only scratching the surface of.
Any influence from The Sound of Music? Oh in my replies I didn't mention, you "can" sing! If anything you're holding back ;)
I had to learn to sing loud, was very hard, that was chorus in school decades ago, I don't sing. But, well my point is, you should consider yourself an able singer, absolutely.
Since you went to school, you know as well as I if recorded with the right interface and filters your sound would be great, it's incredible you even did this with your computers audio input!
Actually I never really liked Sound of Music...I was never really into musicals or singing as a kid, and what you hear on this was pitch corrected, which is why I don't consider myself a singer. I'm sure with lengthy coaching and effort I could make something of it, but I do not really see much point. :P I so rarely come up with stuff to sing! I appreciate it though hehe.
