Dan Rather's analysis was pretty on the mark. These days if a republican won, news networks (except Fox) would say stuff like,"He got lucky!" Or "He cheated!" Maybe I'm exaggerating but they would somehow spin it that way if they could or some other way to try to make the Republican winner look bad.

LBJ & Nixon both destroyed our economy with aimless and expensive wars against Vietnam, Cambodia, durgs, crime, as well as cutting taxes fo the rich. Carter simply failed to fix the problem in time. Reagan only made it worse in the long run -- and keep this in mind, I fucking hate Jimmy Carter because he sent money to ARENA in El Salvador, you know, the terrorist group that killed Oscar Romero; a sickening display of behaviour that Reagan continued vigorously, by the way.

@mussman717word Well yes I agree that both LBJ and Nixon were pretty bad. Well I know that Reagan wasn't liked his first two years, his party lost the 1982 midterm elections. Wasn't the terrorist kind of like followers of Bin Laden or something? Another good thing about Reagan is that Jimmy Carter let the Iranians take some people hostage and Reagan freed them his first day in office, it was something like that. I remember reading something like that.

The Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) was headed by Roberto D'Aubuisson, a terrorist supported by the United States. He tortured and killed thousands of civillians before and during the civil war against an elected government. The Iran Hostage Crisis ended when Warren Christopher (Carter's SoS) signed the Algiers Accords.

Let me explain. Warren Christopher, Jimmy Carter's Secretary of State, signed the Algiers Accords to release the hostages. This happened under the Carter administration, hours before Reagan took office. The timing is coincidential as it gets. Reagan did nothing but welcome them home. Great for his PR, sure, but nothing to put on his resume, understand?

@MrTabby5000 Reagan walked into a worse situation than what we have now. After he signed that huge tax cut (approx six months) there were jobs galore. He basically turned the worst situation into the best. That is why we always say, "cut taxes!"

LOL! That was only because Teddy was the laughing stock of the Democratic primary that year...he was just being spiteful. He never had a snowball's chance in hell of winning the Democrat nomination, even considering Carter had reduced the nation to essentially Third-world status...that's how much he was hated by his own party. Chappaquiddick ruined his career and he knew it. The entire country was only too aware that old Ted was a coward...among other things...quite a legacy.

God, they HATED Reagan...even when he blew Carter away and then wasted Mondale in a record 49 state landlside in 1984, the loser somehow ended up as the story! I don't even consider myself a fan of Obama, so I don't understand how he could brainwash me. And, I graduated high school, so take your misplaced aggression elsewhere. Just so you know, Reagan increased spending across the board, mainly with stupid shit like the War on Drugs. You can twist facts all you like, but I'm against wasteful spending (space program, unauthorized military intervention), just as I am all for taxing the rich. It's the only way to fix our economy.

He ended the Cold War. How was that bad for him? Well at least your against wasteful spending, but taxing the rich. Why? Why does anyone want to raise taxes during a depression? Raising taxes on the rich during a depression is not the way to solve things, that's more like taking advantage of the rich.
