There's no rule that says you have to talk about Heath Ledger's death any more than you'd talk about the death of a homeless person. But common decency dictates that you don't make jokes about his death, and that's where Gibson crossed the line. From all I've heard, Ledger was a pretty nice guy. I can't fathom why Gibson would consider his death a source of humor.
