  • First I'd like to say great work. This is a great video to help the many of us that have thrown money away before trying this fix. Second, after three years seamokatinas, you are still answering questions related to your video. Great job and very patient. Big ups to Ireland from the US.

  • @makinillanoise how can i refuse to answer questions when i get comments like your one:) thanks and same returns to USA;)

  • NICE WORK

  • How to you hook up to lap top? Plz respond

  • you will need a 12-14v power supply, car amplifier and a lead that would have one end with headphone jack (connect to laptop) another end RCA (goes to amplifier). If you have home amplifier that is capable to handle 2-4 ohms will be less hassle cos no separate power supply needed...

  • Were you smoking, or was the sub?

  • и купит ктонибудь такую херню!!!

  • YOU JUST TURNED A FACTORY MADE SUBWOOFER INTO A HOME MADE SUBWOOFER! ITS QUICK AND EASY!

  • hi does any one know where i could get a recone from im in england, yorkshire

  • @Shany123ish1 A recone for what sub woofer?

  • I have a pair of guitar speakers that are'nt made anymore, the one speaker has a few small tears on the surround the other was mutilated but the spider was intact and the coil was still a bright copper color, can the old coils be salvaged for reconing?

  • coils can be reused, but you need to get new cones

  • could you please tell me what did u use to bond the wire on the coil ?? I have been trying to fix my sub many times and what ever I use the wire always gets lose after operating the sub .. (It holds only for some times ) as soon as the heat go up the wire BOOOOOO ... lose ..

I would very much appreciate your help ..

    Mnay Thanks ..

  • answer is on one of the previous comments

  • Awesome job!

  • why would you want to recone that piece of shit subwoofer?

  • it`s not about recone

  • My plug(speakers jack) fails,i have two subwoofers, one failed on left side and one failed on the right side, how do i fix it?now my two woofers have only 1 speakerjack left of each :( HELP!

  • did you're coil sound better?

  • @:) same thing

  • How could I go about fixing this, or getting it repaired? And do you do repairs for other people? If so what are your prices? Thanks.

  • i do sub repairs but i`m not in USA

  • Also, the sub has a VERY slight rattle to it, and if you pressing the top of the sub just the slightest bit uneven, it sort of grinds. On my other subs I can push on them however and it is smooth as glass

  • if parts start to come apart then your voice coil not sitting straight on the magnet, that`s causing voice coil to rub on the side of the magnet and you hear grind noise.

  • I have a Memphis mojo 10" sub. M110D4 and the "spider" I guess you would call it, is detaching from the cone. Not completely but almost.

  • I always buy broken subs and amps cause one day I'll know how to fix them and I'll be RICH!!!!

  • cool

  • Nice work. Very clean and professional.

  • please read previous comments

  • where did you get the tiny wire? shouldnt the tinsle leads be thicker? like the speaker wire size?

  • thanks, read previous comments

  • nice video man. how many truns and how many layers of wire did u put on the voice coil?

  • audiobahn ftw! :)

  • nice dude, I just want to know how did you do the voice coil part?? thx =)

  • very good sr...how can i do to get the audio (test frequencys) you use to test the subs.there is some link or some you can help me out please..

  • thanks, i`m using a NCH tone generator for the frequencys, but i`m sure there are lots of other programs

  • what did u use to power the amp?

  • 13.8v power supply

  • this nice video man :D

  • :) thanks

  • just make sure you have the right size

  • @seamokatinas ok thanks man.....

  • can i use wire in a small motor in rc car....

  • man, what kind of wire did you use....

  • read earlier comments

  • you count the turns on the coil, and also measure the wire?

  • that`s right my friend

  • What kind of wire did you use?

  • check earlier comments,thanks

  • hard work pays off!

  • yep you are right about bottle and yes i do it by hand, it`s only 100-200 winds per coil. Old glue comes off pretty easy, glue debonder does a good job as well

  • thanks bro! most of the time nothing wrong with the coil formers so yes i re-use them

  • no probs man, there will be always some idiots who say bad words about some products just cos they used them wrong and damaged

  • through your work on audiobahns, can u confirm that myth/rummors about their Ghost Voice Coils? have u seen this or dealt with it

  • coils are same as on most subs, not the worst not the best assembly. Could be done more work on cooling

  • @seamokatinas

thank you for helping me understand. That rumor about Audiobahn using fake voice coils in their DVC subs kind of hurts my feelings to hear that about a decent company

  • usually it`s 2

  • is the wire 2 row for 1 coil or a single ??

  • love the "carefully RIP off surround bit " :-P

  • yep yep:)

  • hello, I"m trying to fix an old Kicker L7 12" The voice coil is fine, it's just the tinsel lead wires that were the problem, would like to know how to get the glue off of the cone and voice coil wires, so that I can change them for new ones.

  • usually they come off easy enough, use white-spirit or glue debonder. What do you mean ,,get the glue off of the voice coil wires,,?

  • u what it to be flexible thats where marine goop is good in heat and cooled and can easy be flexed with no problems good job wiring it up tho

  • the best glue the use is GOOP marine bondlock ahahahaha plastic weld nonono

  • first of all there`s no such thing as ,,best,, glue, second was showing what glue brand i`m using

  • @seamokatinas not the best glue there is no best glue ur an idiot send a message to n e sub compnay and ask them the what is the best to use on sub repair and they will tell u what they use

    witch is MARINE GOOP

SO STOP TALKIN OUTA UR ASS

e mail a sub company keep usen no flex weld glue retart

  • looks like you are some serious RETARD:) non of sub voice companies will ever tell you what kind of adhesive they using, and again i wasn`t using any plastic weld glue on this video dumbass! so keep playing with your toys in kindergarden:)

  • exactly same as old (burnt) ones. Usually 2 layers each if it`s dual voice coil sub, and 4 layers if it`s single

  • how would you know how many layers of wires to put??

  • honestly I didn't seen first 15 and was disappointed

  • honestly man I would rather see a video instead of a picture show you have a negative view on my end

  • honestly i don`t care what you think man. If you don`t like, don`t watch, simple as that. Thanks

  • connected to 12v power supply, price depends on how many Amps it can produce. This one is only a cheap one (some $40) cos gives only ~5A

  • @theo122096 power supply

  • Very nice.

  • i more thing , i have a idmax dual 2 12 inch sub so when i recoil the first coil do i just coil the second one on top of the first ? thanks

  • exactly

  • hey can you tell me what you used to glue the coil together and how you glued it ?

  • you`ll need to use heat resistand adhesive, apply it after every enamelled copper wire layer

  • wow thats amazing, u got mad skillz dude. i got a blown jl 12w1 and my coil is all tangles up inside the magnet, i wanna do exactly wat u did here, the only problem is i cant get it apart withouth damaging it, did u use anything special to loosen up the glue or did u just carefully rip it up? and how did u get the spider off too?

  • thanks man! usually they come off easy enough, if not u can use white-spirit or glue debonder

  • very awesome video indeed! and even more awesome is that you're answering questions people are asking! Mad props for not being a jerk like some other online people!

  • thanks man, i`m doing my best:) lots of people just wasting money on recones so thought my video will give another option

  • hey i was wondering if you could help me, i put my 12" mtx jackhammers in storage for like 2 weeks while i was painting my truck and when i took them out i noticed one had a small crack in the cone, about an inch long, is there a way to fix it cause i really like my subs and dont want different ones

  • if it`s a small crack then contact cement should do a job. Cone not that sensitive for a SQ, damaged surround would need a bit more accurate job

  • i have a question...i have dual 12s in my house and only one of the woofers make a rattling sound when i turn it up i was thinking it was the voice coil but im not really sure..i tried pushing the cone up and down with no power but when i do there is no rattling it only rattles when there is power going to it

  • if the spider is ok then it`s a bit strange, in any way you will have to remove spider with cone to investigate what`s causing the problem, 90% it will be a voice coil

  • @seamokatinas i just gotta tell u i had that same audiobahn i traded one witn no box or amp for a set of dual 12 cerwin vegas for the house

  • hello , my sub makes a horrible rattling sound , I don't know what;s wrong with it and I'm too scarred I might make it worse , what do you think should I get it repaired by a pro or get a new one ? I got this one from a garage sale for 2 bucks . thanks alot :)

  • try to push sub cone up and down without any power on it if you still getting rattling sound then it needs new voice coil

  • @seamokatinas I did just that ... it does rattle , thank you for the advice :)

  • I'm still searching for a source to get recone kits for Cerwin Vega Stroker 122s. I've taken one apart already and it looks like it's a "glueless" operation on these.

  • more videos but with more help!

  • Solder the voice coil?

  • Solder the voice coil?

  • Like the coil Isnt burnt, but it ripped a little off the cone if I just seal it , it will work?

  • if it`s broken-solder and glue it to the cone, if it`s not broken just glue it

  • What if the voice coil ripped a little bit off the sub? Can glue be fine?

  • where about?

  • Hmmm, if it's blown then I must get new voice coils huh?

  • need to make new ones

  • Ohthat angela profile happens to be my sister's but i'm the one with the questions. Help?

  • $30 for the meter not too bad. As i said before measure resistance across + and - terminals. If you not getting any numbers even when moving cone then you`ll need to do exactly same as in my video MAKE NEW VOICE COIL

  • Dangg well where can I get a meter thingy cheap? I see stores selling it over 30 bucks!

If it's blown? How do I fix? These subs are discontinued and I'd hate to not use one

  • Idk what's wrong with my sub it just doesn't work

It's not blown because it doesn't work at all

Could it be because of the coils? How would I know?

    Thanks.

    I have a diamond audio tm3 10d4

    It's a 10" and 4 ohm

  • :) usually blown subs doesn`t work at all:) get a multimeter and try to measure resistance across + and - terminals. If you not getting any numbers even when moving cone then it`s definitely blown

  • What do you use to hold the coil together? Heat resistant glue or what?

  • read previous comments before asking same questions. Thanks

  • How do you tell how long to make the new coil? Thanks and awesome video

  • thanks, new voice coil should be exactly same lenght as old one

  • How can I regulate the wats W? to make a stronger speaker, and more difficult to burn? should i use a thicker coil, or more windings? thanks, for the great vid :)

  • where you put the second coil? over the first?

  • yep

  • Comment removed

  • burn it again :D :P :D

  • what glue did you use to glue the coil?

  • any heat resistand adhesive

  • its yahoo

  • my messenger for few questions ...pleaseeeeeee....mihai_gagiul89

  • hello...i have 2 woofers punch and i want to repair them i wait one sign from u because i need few answer.........pleaseeeeeeee mihai_gagiul89

  • how do you wrap the coil like that?

  • hand made:)

  • very good job man!! i was surprised how well you did!

btw whats the name of the song?

  • thanks mate, song name BLANK & JONES - The mistery

  • I have one of those bt a 15 can you show me how to repair it?

  • it`s shown on video

  • I am curious if there is a download sound bit for testing speakers like that to see how your craftsmanship quality is. Very nice though... patience!!

  • yeah bro lots and lots of patience:) any sine wave 20-60hz will do the job

  • How did you use the bondloc? my 15" kicker cvrs surround came off from the metal and i want to put back together how do i do it? which ones do i use and how? thanks cool vid 5 stars!

  • there`s no such thing, important to use heat resistand adhesive

  • No heat resistand coil ?

  • oh yeah:)

  • burned voice coils SMELLS!

  • ok im trying to get to that but there is a lip around the spider that is giving me trouble on getting it off the way is set up what would you recomend on taking it off, a screw driver or something?

  • never had this sub for repairs so don`t realy know, but usually screwdriver and a little bit heat works fine:)

  • Comment removed

  • nice song what would it happen to be? and i have an american bass dx 15 that has a dead vc would i take the surround off of it and then the spider as well to fix the short in the coil?

  • you`ll need to wind a new voice coil

  • ok thanks my you can hear the music but with the rattle or kind of statiky

  • Ok my sub sounds like a rattle is this wat you just fix on this one

  • this one was totaly dead, but you will have to do the same cos your voice coil was fried and is loose inside. That`s where the noise coming from

  • you just gave me hope on fixing my orion xtr

  • that`s what this video for:)

  • just out of curiousty what would happen if i used bigger coil wire

  • Well, it may not fit in the driver gap, it would rub, which in the end will destroy the coil.

  • contact cement would do the job

  • i have two diamond audio d3 tens. the rubber surround is not glued to the rim of the basket and the voice coil and spider is not attached to the basket there are screw holes in the basket that appear to be where the spider and coil should be screwed onto the basket what kind of glue and screws should i use

  • bring it to Ireland, i`ll fix them:)

  • i'll pay you to fix my subs i have 2 12inch soundstream picasso's..when i hook them up they won't do anything.

  • Cool, wondering if I should try it on a blown sub I got left with. Couple of questions:

    1. How do you determine length of wire needed for rewind?

    2. Is the wire glued when you rewind it?

    3. What does the multitester 3.6 measure indicate, is that ohms?

    4. For a dual voice coil, does the one wire go over the other or side by side?

OK, couple more than a couple questions! Thanks.

  • 10 4 thanks bud

  • tape won`t work:) use contact cement for this job, apply it in a very thin layer. Apply the adhesive to both sides of the surround. If you apply the adhesive properly and get the surround back together as it should be, the speaker will be as good as new.

  • sorround its a small tear i tried black liquid tape but it dident work and ideas

  • cone or surround?

  • how would you fix a small hole in rubber cone

  • i left it

  • Did you tear our the remaing burned voice coil or just leave it in it looked as tho you just left it in idk but very nice job impressive

  • song name pls =)

  • Whoa! Boy, this video is impressive. Nice with helpful advice.

  • what did you use to remove the spider and speaker gasket? any special chemical to loosen the adhesive?

  • usually they come off easy enough, if not u can use white-spirit or glue debonder

  • you not the only one who put them in a bin:) you would need to look for an enamelled copper wire, should find in most electrical shops

  • so what kind of wire are you using to redo the voice coils? and where can i find it? i have thrown so many subs away and so much money cant belive it awesome!

  • nice, where are you located?

  • thanks, ireland
