  • BIG SUR MOON :D

  • What song is that at the beginning? If it's self written I want the tabs :P

  • @MitchellShredsGuitar Its U2 - 11 o'clock tick tock

  • How does this compare to the Boss DD-7?

  • @stephanzo1 This pedal doesn't have tap tempo or quite as long delay signal as the DD-7, if you were looking at delay pedals check out the line 6 echo park, its cheaper then the DD-7 but has basically the same features

  • Big Sur Moon

  • BUCKETHEAD!!!

  • @TheAcousticSpace Buckethead or Paul Gilbert?

  • hey Andy + PGS. The original song in the backgound of yours at the start - i love the sound of it can you tell me how you recorded it, id also love a copy.

    Thanks

    Mark

  • dear pgs how do you explain, that i like that delay pedal more than my malekko 600 dark?

  • 0:00 11 'o Clock Tick Tock.

  • How much more is the Malekko 616 worth, than this? $50 difference, but this is a pretty cool delay. Trying to figure out which one would be a great match with my Devi Ever Shoe Gazer.

  • sorry guys, but this pedal is complete crap. sounds great but everyone seems to be having serious problems with it. mine worked for about 50 minutes, then it stopped working. if you wanna buy memory toy, then you should consider investing some more and buy memory boy, it seems to be designed way better. sorry ehx, but memory toy sucks big time.

  • @lookatthebluesky Well it seems that you're just unlucky. Mine works excellent.

  • @lookatthebluesky change the battery!!

  • Baita pedal.

  • How good is this compared to mxr's carbon copy?

  • @reaper3264

From what I heard, it is almost the same thing, except that the MXR has got a little longer delay time. I'm ordering the Memory Boy this week, because of the additional expression pedal, you should check this, PGS made a review of this too.

  • Will the memory boy be able to give all the tones of the memory toy or is it a diffenerent circuit? Please reply

  • The last part was like the soundtrack in diablo2 :)) cool pedal

  • this thing is awesome but its poorly built.

I've owned 2 of them and they have BOTH crapped out on me.

    both with the same problems.

its enough to where I am never buying a pedal made by EHX ever again.

  • @BaphometStudios

Something tells me you were just unfortunate. I've had mine for three months, and I've not had any regrets, nor has it quit on me.

  • 11 o clock tick tock !!

  • Can this help me sound like all my favorite 80's cult bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode?

  • Has anyone known any really bad experiences from this pedal? I like it more than the other analogs ive been looking at for the money. But there's a couple of negative reviews on guitar center.

  • Anybody know the song that starts at 4:45?

  • Yes, but can it do unholy DEATH metal distortions?

  • 0:40 ORGASM

  • WAT'S THE SONG AT 3:10?? PLS, IM DESPERATE

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos ... i have a bcb-60 pedalboard...

at the end of my pedalboard i have a EH booster...

do i put my delay after the booster or before the booster?

  • @arthurbersanmaia if you have and FX-loop after your pre-amplifier i would've put it there. In most situations you don't want the repeats to be distorted.

  • @arthurbersanmaia put it through your effects loop!

  • what is the second song that he is playing?

  • BucketHead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • does it this pedal add any grit to your tone?

  • before he talks he plays 11 o clock tick tock by U2

  • Do these things suck much tone?

  • Can this handle the slapback delay needed for Audioslave - Cochise?

  • Andy the music at the start ( drums n all) is really awesome sounding! where can i hear that track?

    Cheers

    Mark

  • @dsally23 that song is 11 o clock tick tock by U2

  • does the memory toy has a volume drop when the blend knob is at 12 0 clock, just like the #1 echo?

im planning to get a memory toy if it doesnt have the same volume drop as the # echo

    thanks

  • Can this be used a loop station, ie can it play the same thing over and over without chainging at all? cos the loop stations ive been looking at are rather expensive.

  • Could anyone that's tried out one of these and one of the Memory Boys tell me whether the added controls on the Memory Boy are worth the extra money (I know that it's not that big of a price difference, but I'm a student and on a tight budget)? I'm looking for that U2/the Edge sound, and I can hear from this that this pedal can pull it off, but is it versatile enough to do some other things if I need it to?

  • whats the song in the dotted eight note section?

  • Anyone know how this is for like rockabilly/surf style slapback?

  • what's the song at 3:55?

  • going forward to buy me this pedal, but is it possible to create large and big "rooms" with the memory toy?

  • buckethead>>> BIG SUR MOON :) yeahhhhh

  • Big Sur Moon -BucketHead !!!!!! :))))

  • How is this for slap back?

  • sounds like hes playing Devandra Banhart at 1.36

  • u2 at beginning!

  • @TheFrostyDealer what song? it sounds awesome!

  • I heard that inside the memory toy there are several trimpots, and you can use one of them to change the depth of the modulation. Can anyone tell me wich one is it, and has the depth been changed in this demo?

  • Sounds great. I love EHX, great pedals.

  • can this be used as a loop pedal also

  • what song 0:08 ?

    pretty cool

  • @MegaPunkk 11 O'clock tick tock

  • Was that the faunts?

  • Andy you rule.

  • So with the delay and feedback on zero, the blend on 100% wet, and the mod on this thing is a chorus pedal?

  • @FlorisFrusciante No, the Modulation only affects the repeats. With that setting you mentioned you migh get a killswitch pedal =P

  • Great job on bringing some Buckethead to the table, Andy. I love watching your reviews/demos. You should give "Soothsayer" by Buckethead a shot on one of your demos.

  • Did i hear the "I will follow" harmonics in there.

    Sounded Good.

    Matt.

  • i cant wait until they make a memory joy, where its just one knob :P

  • how much?

  • Okay...If Andy had turned the pedal off during the osscilation in the intro would it have stopped or trailed off?

  • @ZachDRUMMOND stopped

  • what was the song with the diminished chords in it?

  • can anyone rate this pedal? coz im planing to buy a delay pedal, and i havnt decided which one to buy. thnx..

  • what's the differences between digital and analog delay? :/

  • @TheBoiLucas The sound of the repeats and the delay times; also the number of repeats... so, basically everything

  • GOD I FUCKING WANT THIS DELAY PEDAL!!!

  • A want it!!!!!!!!!

    Waaaah!

  • What is the last song?

  • during the intro perfect song.

  • anyone know what song is 3:55?

  • Whoa! he actually played Big Sur Moon

  • This is a poorly designed pedal with two pc boards that plug into each other with a flimsy connector. mine comes loose then the pedal stops working. It does however sound better than a more expensive carbon copy which people seem to love. All of EHX new pedals have problems with volume drop, reliability, tone sucking when bypassed, shotgun blast when switch is engaged, not compatible with daisy chain power supplys etc. The nano clone is the worst of the lot, it has all of thes problems.....

  • Probably a stupid question, but does blend/mix mean the same thing as the repeat volume?

  • this is how my tele used to sound before someone threw goon on it at a party :(

  • Is this just as good as the MXR carbon copy? Cuz at this price, if this can do everything just as good as the MXR, might as well get this one...input, anyone?

  • @devilzdj4 id say it's more to do with preference...

  • PGS, what od is that at 3:30?

  • sweeet little thang :D

  • Would you guys get Andy to do a video for the Deluxe Memory Boy? There is only one on youtube and it sucks pretty bad as the guy plays the same thing in each mode of operation....which doesn't work with a delay.

  • Buckethead "Big Sure Moon"

  • uff... sometimes i REALLY consider if utility is prior to attractivness... i love the old ehx enclousures (look REALLY prehistoricall and kind of Devoish and industrial) i find them really attractive, and in a kind of childish way it makes me feel cool when i carry my old microsynth, frequency analyzer and polychorus... but 4 of those would use the space of 16 of this new nano stuff...

  • Hi Andy, what are you playing from 1:37 onwards?? it sounds great!

  • @gman6107 It is a Classical song called Gymnopedie no 1.. and yeah it sounds really really good !

  • hi there, can you please say what you are playing from 1:35 approx, it's awesome!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Andy, Big Sur Moon? I fucking love you.

  • 2:20 Big Sure Moon by Buckethead! :)

  • Whats the difference between wet and dry? How much reverb are you using with that on the amp?

  • @theShowStopper321 The reverb was not on for the demo. Wet is the delay signal and dry is your bare guitar sound.

  • Comment removed

  • I feel like buying two of them just because they are so well priced.

  • No Streets? Eh... Great demo though!

  • you are just a word wizard

    arent you =)

  • Simple and just great pedal.

  • whats he playing at 4:00?

  • 11 O'CLOCK TICK TOCK FTW

  • How do you get it to oscillate without the volume increasing forever? A compressor only handles a certain amount of volume before it gives up. If I leave the oscillation on, I feel like my speakers about to blow up.

  • hendrix back from the grave at 3:10 !

  • i got this pedal..its ok.I'd rather upgrade to a memory man with hazarai though.

  • Buckethead - Big Sur Moon, very nice indeed :)

  • Oh I'm Sorry, I didn't put much atention. hahah

  • Anyone knows if the chorus only affects the repeats or the whole signal?

  • It only affects the repeats

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos I dont mean to keep asking u questions but I dont have the chance to try these out. This vs malekko vs Carbon copy. I like the subtle, warm, dark-type tones of tape echo. Which one would u recommend?

  • @theShowStopper321 - Feel free to give us a call at the shop (503-670-4949) or use the contact form on our website. Our customer service guys would be delighted to answer any and all pedal questions and get you pointed in the right direction. Thanks for watching!

    -PGS Video Dept.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos R u using the amp's crunch or an OD pedal in front of the delay>?

  • @theShowStopper321 I understand that I'm prolly way too late on a response here... BUT... just in case you are still in the market I would recommend the MXR Carbon Copy. I have been using one for about a year or so now and I love it. Very warm repeats and the modulation is controllable.

  • Big sur moon!!!

  • Mxr carbon copy or Memory Toy?

  • Just got this today. AND...

    It doesnt work.

I click it on, the light comes on, and... nothing. Just my regular guitar signal goes through. I know its not my cables, or guitar, or power supply. Something is wrong with the actual pedal. I know that the blend knob works (When i dial it back i get an increase in volume)

but no modulation or delay sounds come through. Yes, I've adjusted all the knobs.

I've heard that this problem is actually pretty frequent with this pedal. Any advice?

  • turning back ? :D

    go to your dealer dude

  • Try original EHX 9v adaptor - it is really picky about adaptors. Have the same problem when plugged to 9V no name adaptor. Other pedals worked normally with it, but not that one. It works with Trex fuelltank jr. - but it doesn't oscillate. It works perfectly with original EHX adaptor.

  • open it up , one of the circuit boards isn't pushed in all the way , mine came that way also

  • Same with mine. I just gave a long drawn out description of how to fix and it you nailed it down with one sentence. Nicely done!!!!

  • Same thing happened to me as well. I took it apart and discovered that the board inside was not connected to the bottom board at all. If you take the top piece off once your inside the pedal you can see a row of gold coloured pins on one side and a row of the same color ports where the pins would obviously snap into. You'll know when it's snapped in properly because the board won't move around after there together. That was the problem with mine anyways. Give it a shot. UNPLUG IT FIRST THOUGH!!

  • yeah send it back get a refund or swap it for one that works lmao

  • There are two circuit boards in the pedal and sometimes they get disconnected but if you notice when you open it up the pcb board will be loose so puch the pins down on to the recepticals on the bottom circuit board... if its tough take it out all the way then re align it

  • I tried the boy and the toy out today at local music store and neither of them worked. I think its time for EH to plug these in and try them out before they leave the facatory! How bout a little quality assurance??

  • this is the best analog delay EVER.

  • 2:17 this is a very very good cover of Big Sur Moon

  • with this guitar playing the pedal gets a little more pro!

  • ha, buckethead! awesome. controversially, i think my ibanez de7 and roland cube sounds better for this particular song! i am looking for an analog delay to supplement that. this pedal seems better value than the mxr carbon copy

  • ibanez de7 kicks ass, i love the echo mode. it sounds better than some "true analog" delays.

  • is this memory toy modded? cause when i got mine the modulation on it was terrible but i opened it up and solved the problem

  • No, it's straight out of the box

  • Which sounds better: Maxon AD80 or this pedal?

  • Comparing to similar pedals in this price range this one is a LOT better...

  • U2 ELEVEN O CLOCK TICK TOCK

  • ya thats big sur moon buckethead friggen rulez!!!

  • i just picked this thing up, and o my god it is amazing

  • whats the difference between analog and digital delay? analog sounds more organic to me...

  • that is the difference. digital is like the exact same thing repeated, but analog adds a little bit of color

  • thats exactly the difference

  • The difference is that digital doesn't sound good, while analog sounds a lot better.

  • Nonsense! We present as evidence: T-Rex Replica, Empress Superdelay, even the EH Memory Man Hazarai and the Boss DD-7. All fine delay pedals, and all digital.

  • Those pedals are all bunk and you know it. Except for the Superdelay, since your website (and Empress) has invested time and money into promoting that particular pedal.

  • No, you're just a snob. "Welcome To The Jungle" wouldn't have been the same if it had been recorded with an analog delay.

  • fair point, but a lot of classic rock wouldn't have sounded the same without analog delay.

  • You're right, Welcome To The Jungle would've still sucked.

  • I like both analog and digital delay. It all depends on what sound the song needs in my book. I've got a Memory Toy, a Deluxe Memory Man, a #1 Echo, a Boss DD2 and an Ibanez AD9 and they all have their different characters. I like them all for different reasons. I quite fancy one of those TC Electronics Nova Repeaters next.

  • Exactly. Like Sly said, "different strokes for different folks".

  • TOO DARK :(

i would so get this or the boy, but the repeats are just too dark! RRRRRR

  • perhaps you could brighten the tone of your guitar with an EQ before the delay ?

so the repeats won't be that dark ?

i like dark delays personnaly becauee i got a rey shiny telecaster and it's just fine for this (the sound would be too shimmering , too jingle jangle if i use digital and ultra-clean delays)

  • hey, does any1 know whats the song on the very beginning?

  • U2 something

  • The Memory Boy looks more amazing, I mean really, the Memory Man is more than $300... the Boy is $100.

  • does any1 know whats the song played on the very beginning when the photo of a plugged memorytoy shows up?

  • lol@ "frenzy of sonic delight" but good demo. I'm buying one.

  • Great opening song a bit more lo-fi then the memory man as used on that song a bit of a disappointment as I hoped for a smaller memory man but its not as hi-fi

  • the memory boy has a better soun than the memory boy when i played them at the guitar shop and the memory boy self ociates beterand come with a power adapter and is onlt 20 more that this

  • i think you meant one of the two you played was a memory toy?

  • oops ya thanx

  • cool, but now which one in your previous comment was supposed to be memory toy? Im really interested in getting the Toy right now

    thanks man

  • the boy sounded better and u get the ac adapter with it for $100 as with the toy is $80 and i dosnt have the ac adapter and the boy has the extra depth knob for the modulation and has vibrato, the square or triangle wave selector and the expresion pedal option so in my opinion for only $20 u get alot mor with the memory boy that u do with the toy

  • this pedal rocks!! and it's so cheap also....

  • anyone know what cables those are? just ordered this pedal, £50 for analogue delay, self osc craziness? bargain!

  • i personally like the carbon copy better but this ones pretty nice

  • malekko ekko 616 owns all

  • I own one and it's dynamite!!!!!!!!!! I was at the guitar shop to pick up an MXR Carbon Copy delay and came across this pedal for $100 cheaper. Shoots he scores!

  • Wow he nailed Big Sur Moon.

  • please, say, what is played on lush repeats?

  • This reviewer is cool. He can actually play! Most of these online guys suck!

  • Where have you been all this time? PGS demos rule!! :)

  • its cold outside, but its hot here.,.,. thanks any chance of "promenade" next time?

  • that medium delay segment sounded amazing

  • yeah that was big sur moon by buckethead haha

  • Andy this one really sounds great. It would be very cool of you to make a smackdown with Carbon copy of mxr. I would really choose after this video which analog delay I'd like to add to my board.

  • Andy's just having to much fun!! great demo

  • sounds great, and less expensive than the MXR Carbon Copy

  • This is nice but as far as modulation goes you need to get a Ibanez DM2000 or a Roland SDE 3000

  • hmm i'm wondering why we need this if we already have the memory boy, which is itself a smaller version of the memory man :s

  • 'cause for me Memory Toy better in self-oscillations, i don't know why, but MT goes in self-oscillations quickly & easily.

  • The memory boy has more features and takes up more space. this is more ehx's response to the carbon copy.

  • i like that one

  • BUCKETHEAD
