  • After milling the layout, you have your paths isolated from the rest of the board, that works, but aren't there any disadvantages of having so much copper around? You could easily short-circuit 2 of the pins if the soldered metal goes just a tiny bit beyond the cuts, right?

  • @MarlosZappa Yes, if you can't solder

  • What depth are you doing for the tracks? And it's a 30 degree engraving bit right?

  • excelente..

  • Yuk. Are those cold solder joints at 2:16?

  • awesome, making pcbs the hard way :)

  • @poweredBYGDK Still cool though :)

  • @poweredBYGDK Milling: Put copper board in machine. Secure to table. Export design from EAGLE to CNC program. Press GO! button. Wait for machine to finish using one bit. Change to drill. Change to milling bit. Seven steps.

Etching: Print out design, mirrored. Tape to Copper. Use iron to heat up toner. Let cool. Use water to remove paper. Use alcohol + brush to remove oxidation. Place in etchant. Agitate etchant. Rinse board of etchant. Drill Holes. Cut from excess copper board.

  • @poweredBYGDK I would say this is the safe way

  • @RoutoutCNC Hi - What do you use to hold the PCB in place while milling and drilling it?

    Thanks

  • @Fr4g4lot propably just double sided tape

  • @RoutoutCNC might I ask what you use to hold the PCB in place while milling & drilling it?

  • @cumesoftware

In some cases, yeah . But personally I can spend a whole afternoon etching one or two medium sized pcbs (I'm slow, I know). Besides, I hate the trouble regarding the acid's disposal.

The feedrate on the video is quite slow, though (or maybe he just used a slow feedrate intentionally, dunno).

  • @cumesoftware

Because it's easier, faster, cheaper and you don't need to mess with acid :D

  • at 2:17 looks badly soldering.

  • @molinobeer Ya :P

  • quite the nice astable multivibrator pcb

  • soft mach 3? Converter name soft for pcb? thanks.

  • Finally! Someone that shows the completed circuit board! Thanks for the excellent video.

  • hello my friend!

i have a cnc machine , and i wanto to buy the first drill that you show on the movie.

    were can i buy it??

    thanks

  • you can get these bits from farnell but a they are a little expensive there....If u need for home use then i suggest you buy some at ebay...and break the plastic top to attach them to the router...
