Just to intepret what Kuyamon said in his lecture.
He talks about the Tausug, people of the current. Tau (people) sug (current). He talks about how they are not just fishermen as many people belive but are also farmers. There are lots of niyog (coconut) in Jolo and there are many suha (pomelos). So this next dance is dedicated to the Suha tree. They've (I assume ROFG) has long taught this dance to the Philippine Dance Society and that they request that they do it again.
@juaquino He sense that the essence of the dance is for women to mimic the gentleness of the suha. The dance is accompanied by a song and it is accompanied by an ensemble. The instruments are shaped like a boat and reminiscent of the people of the current. Kuyamon goes on to say that the some people say that the song was create sometime in the 1930s.
@juaquino you're right. i already acknowledge my mistake...are you tausug? bang kaw tausug, na makahati nakaw taymanghud magkasa ra isab kita...maap da kuman
yes... tama ang lecture ni papa mon....... i see no fault with what he said... sa mga taong di marunong makinig ng lecture, please po before tayo mgcomment, alamin po muna natin..... malinis nmn sinabi ni papa mon na suha not suka... yes, he stated about the niyog, but what he was referring to as " niyog" was that it is one among the trees that the tausugs grow, being farmers, not just being plain "mangingisda." and that statement led him to open up the topic on the "suha.

The video is nice but the facts of the presentor are wrong. Sua is not vinegar. Sua means lemon or orange. What's coconut tree to do about the song? Sua ko sua is a song about planting a lemon tree bearing 6 fruits etc. tsk...tsk...
@gagandilan Di mo ba alam kung sino and presentor? This is not just any presentor you're talking about... This is the world renowned Kuyamon, Ramon Obusan. He was, even until he died, one of the most thorough researchers of Philippine dance. He has been such a credit to all Philippine Dance companies in the Philippines and abroad.
