The thing is, I prefer Nirvana. When I listen to them I never get bored. The same doesn't happen when I ear SP, and they are very good. But, you know, that's just a matter of personal taste.

@7kole4 i aprreciate your opinion but i have to disagree i think kurt was alot better than he let on, it was cool to play badly at the time. but to say he was better than corgan is a bit silly. i love guitarists that are different and odd but cobain isnt one of them. check out pixies and sonic youth if you wanna hear where kurt stole riffs from. kurt even admitted that most of his songs were ripped off from those bands.

@kilja11 Agreed. Kurt was a lot better than thought to be or that he let people see up front. Then again, there were a lot of mysterious things about Kurt weren't there? As for Billy, he's my hero who's also my ex-hero of the gen X revolution/repulsion. I feel sad when I see him now, kind of like the kid who got beat up all the time in the school yard and then you see them when they're 30 and they're no better off than they were then....

@kilja11 Those bits of "admittance" were of low self-esteem, sort of a defensive move so that no one could really accuse him of stealing riffs. That said, Bleach and "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter" off of In Utero proved to me that Cobain had a knack for playing guitar, only problem is that his addiction was seriously hindering his ability. Playing guitar on any type of substance, really downers, is a fucking struggle and he managed to fair pretty well, considering his "scratch and mute" style.

@Nintendorks12345 "low self esteem" what were you Kurt's psychiatrist or something? well jimmy chamberlin was on a lot of heroine and he played pretty fucking well. and no i haven't only heard the single i used to be a massive nirvana fan as a kid i learn't to play almost all their songs on guitar as well as the pumpkins. i think pumpkins guitar was a lot more interesting!

@kilja11 Good music isn't measured on guitars. I could easily judge the pumpkins based on their extensive production and the fact that they practically built their career on the same Hendrix chord, but I don't because I like their music. As for the "low self-esteem", that might not be the proper term, but yes. You don't have to be a certified genius to figure out what he was doing by admitting his "steals". He only pointed them out before anyone else could. It was pretty defensive.

People hang on to every word spoken by Billy Corgan or Eddie Vedder the same way people hung on and continue to hang on to every word Cobain said (and didn't say). It's sad to think that the idea of who is worshiped is exclusive to the "overrated band". But hey, it's all opinion, so fuck it.

@kilja11 Kurt was a better musician that Billy, Billy is a typical good musician. Kurt was different, odd and not your typical great guitarist and musician. If you base your opinion on NIRVANA just by the "nevermind" album you must be stupid because even the members of NIRVANA didnt like that album much.

@iamaladycanyousaveme I like Incesticide the best myself. I remember when I got it in 1992 I use to listen to it way more then Nevermind. But, I always liked Gish better than either one. Then when Siamese Dream came out I was blown away an thought it was the best. It was the first CD I ever got because I always got cassettes before that. I have just always liked The Pumpkins better than Nirvana. The only album by Nirvana I don't get sick of is Unplugged. Too bad they didn't do more of that.

@iamaladycanyousaveme I don't agree with that at all. I actually think that Billy was a better songwriter. Kurt's stuff was simple and I only really think Nevermind is their great album. Everything else has hits and misses. Kurt was a good singer, no doubt, but I don't like some of the ways he sang live. Just like Billy. The both sounded really good on record, but way different live. I think they were about equal in terms of singing and songwriting. But, this is a matter of opinion I guess.

Funny shit. They were still great and nice to see live, even without James and D'arcy. I don't know how it's going to be without Jimmy, though, but I still love Billy.
