to sum up why it sank (according to cracked.com), it was packed with over 50 cannons, and became so ridiculously top-heavy that if it turned more than 10 degrees then it would capsise.

The navy decided instead of fixing this that they would stop the captains being allowed to turn at all, and so it became stupidly easy to sink, as shown.

Okay, serious question. If it was hit by an enemy torpedo, yes I'm from cracked, then why wasn't the ship continuously fired upon while sinking? Video description said it was an hour long process so, what not drive the nail home while it's sinking? Did the enemy ships let the survivors drown, or did help arrive before that? Google is my friend I guess... "goes and searches".
