Why would wether or not someone is a minority matter when judging someone's poverty level? It's based on income and dependents. $2,000 a month is plenty, especially for someone who is splitting the bills with a spouse. You and Jason travel frequently and you've made multiple videos about your own income. Was a loan from you to Jason ever considered? Why do you feel it's ok for others to pay for something that could have been paid by Jason and his spouse? He doesn't qualify for a reason!
I think the issue is here is that it would be the wording. Let me say that I will be donating when I get paid this Friday. However, to some people they would probably like to see an effort on the part of Jason before they contribute. Example: "Hey All, Jason sold his Xbox 360, games, DVD collection etc. and has raised X amount of dollars towards his surgery. Let's see if we can help him out with the rest." I think that's what people are angry about. I've sold things when needing to raise funds.

Sweetie, take it from me. Your body is going through so many changes it takes your body awhile to ajust to new changes suich as diet changes and so on. I was at a stand still in my weight for 9 months, my body finally ajusted and I started losing weight again. Give your body a chance.
I dont care what anyone here says. When someone is in need of medical care, you dont ask why doesnt he or you should think of doing this. I was in the same place Jason is. I had emergancy surgery in July and needed all the help I could get. I was blessed that my friends and family all just opened up and helped me instead of ask why dont you do this or that. Why is everyone complaining about a $1. You'll probably spend it on something useless anyways!
Because he doesn't *need* donations in order to get the operation. If this were for someone who actually couldn't afford this it would be different. His $2000 a month only makes up half of the income. I was hit with a hospital bill over $6000 when I was only 18, and I worked hard to pay it off. Charity should be saved for those who can't make it without the help. He could have made it. He would have been inconvenienced, but he would have been capable.
I'm in the insurance business and know for a FACT that Jason could have health insurance at an affordable price. At his age, the monthly cost would only be approx. $100 (-,+) on a $1000 deductible. It's his CHOICE not to have insurance. I'm sure he has student loans, or just not going out to restaurants and movies all the time would easily cover it as well. Good luck with the surgery Jason.
I think what might help this video and donations is to also include a video about what jason is doing to cut down on spending and save money for his surgery. I think then ppl would feel less controversial about being asked for the money. They would feel more informed and know that the person they are giving to is making sacrifices in his lifestyle the way sum viewers are to be able 2 donate. The same way ppl want to know that anyone who gets financial assistence is being financially responsible.

The hospital has programs that he should qualify for. My husband had a heart attack (at age 37!) and had no insurance and somehow we qualified making quite a bit of income- huge mortgage payments and 3 kids though, maybe that offset the household expenses. There are grants that cover people with no insurance- I would talk to someone there to confirm. We had close to $100K waived entirely.

first of all I am not dumb or sensitive. I am in college I am getting the education I need about how the system works. I know AA exists. But the way Shanti said it was not very nice to all her minority viewers. I am a minority and I was offended at how she talked about the situation. As if you have to be a minority to be on state care. That is not 100% true first of all.

I think that's a little short-sighted :( Jason works full-time and then goes to school on his days off and in the evenings. We see each other for dinner or when he's studying/doing homework... so he really has no time. Getting a second job could be an option I suppose, if he wanted to give up weight loss and sleep.

No, *I* put lots of hours (definitely not hundreds) of hours on YouTube. He makes a weigh-in (10 minutes) once a week. I edit BTYL... all he does is make videos while living out his life and gives the memory card to me. I would hardly count that as spending even a significant time on YT.
We both know there are people out there that have more on their plate. i dont know him personally. just what i see on youtube and twitter makes it seem he doesnt know how to budget money wisely. If your in dire need of money.. selling material things like you video games would be the first option, or getting a loan. Even if you are using coupons to dinner its still costing money "you dont have" Hospitals do offer programs as well.

Usually tonsils are the first line of defense to protect you from getting flu or other problems before it goes further down the throat. A friend of mine had the same problem and I recommended she gargle with baking soda 1tbsp in 4 oz water 3x's a day. She also took vitamin c and echinacia and the problem went away. Jason hope you get better buddy.
All you need to do is to focus on your energy and being healthy. You may have already reached your idea weight. You MIGHT get there this year, but it doesn't seem like your goal anymore to reach a 'number', right??

I would suggest that if you are going to panhandle on YouTube for money that you refrain from bragging about how many times you ate out this week and what video games you bought. The hospital has programs that he should qualify for. My husband had a heart attack (at age 37!) and had no insurance and somehow we qualified making quite a bit of income- huge mortgage payments and 3 kids though, maybe that offset the household expenses. There are grants that cover people with no insurance- I would talk to someone there to confirm. We had close to $100K waived entirely.

But the way Shanti said it was not very nice to all her minority viewers. I am a minority and I was offended at how she talked about the situation. As if you have to be a minority to be on state care. That is not 100% true first of all.

I think that's a little short-sighted :( Jason works full-time and then goes to school on his days off and in the evenings. We see each other for dinner or when he's studying/doing homework... so he really has no time. Getting a second job could be an option I suppose, if he wanted to give up weight loss and sleep.
That's my opinion, anyway. I have no shame in asking for money for him when honestly, he gets no pay for the hundreds of hours he puts into YouTube. There's no harm in asking :)

No, *I* put lots of hours (definitely not hundreds) of hours on YouTube. He makes a weigh-in (10 minutes) once a week. I edit BTYL... all he does is make videos while living out his life and gives the memory card to me. I would hardly count that as spending even a significant time on YT.

We both know there are people out there that have more on their plate. i dont know him personally. just what i see on youtube and twitter makes it seem he doesnt know how to budget money wisely. If your in dire need of money.. selling material things like you video games would be the first option, or getting a loan. Even if you are using coupons to dinner its still costing money "you dont have" Hospitals do offer programs as well.

Usually tonsils are the first line of defense to protect you from getting flu or other problems before it goes further down the throat. A friend of mine had the same problem and I recommended she gargle with baking soda 1tbsp in 4 oz water 3x's a day. She also took vitamin c and echinacia and the problem went away.
