well if you wanna be a rescue swimmer yeah it does and yiu gotta go to A school but if you work at a regular small boat station you do thoes on a daily basis and you dont need to go to school for it but these guys are Rescue Swimmers and they need the hardcore training

Almost everyone in the CG performs SAR missions, you may be thinking of Aviation Survival Technicians(Helicopter Rescue Swimmer). For that rate to qualify, yes you must do a lot of hardcore swimming training.

Lol, why would that take the search out of search and rescue? They still have to search for the boat in some cases, search for every single person if they go overboard!

They get it from the base, they have lots of computers and people who sit there and listen for help calls, and also are alerted if a PLB goes off. PLB is a Personal Locator Beacon, witch gives the Coast Guard the exact cords to ITS location lets just hope your with it if it's ever needed.

yeah i see it its another person in the water you can see the reflective striping on his shoulder to the left of his head and the maks up on his forehead probably a simulated victim for the training mission

my friends all diss the Uscg, and all say they wanna join the marines and the coast gaurd is weak and wimpy, there wrong. we need to give the U.S.C.G. soem credit! they are in iraq as well , they patrol the rivers in there smaller boats while there main ships sit off in a bay defending the area! give uscg credit!

I'm joining the Army, but I grew up around the USCG, USCG is in no way a weak group, there training is harder then the Navy's

and every day they have to do there jobs when there is peace time, the Marines train. the USCG is killing pirates and drug runners, and rescue ppl. Swimmer school is hard as hell.
