1:06 This is not an error. As said earlier, this measure is often omitted but it is played correctly as B-C-Eb. It is the next measure that is played B-C-D.
I say play it how you feel it. I liked this interpretation, but I also like many others, including Gould's. Bach's music is very precise and ordered, but that doesn't mean it's not open to the interpretation of the performer.
Hey TJ, glad to see you working on your Bach, but be careful otherwise it can take over your life! Good job on this one, but I thought a bit fast, or maybe I've been listening to too much Gould. Incidentally there are no articulation marks in the original so any interpretation is ok. Most people tend to make Bach sound a bit too romantic for my tastes, but I do find the Jarrett version quite neutral, which is what I think he wanted.
Hey TJ nice Work & Bach is the greatest of all Old Schoolers. How bout that big fat f Maj 7th at 1:00 wouldn't see that chord again till the 20th century
I actually started working on this about 6 months ago. I never got it to anywhere near this level. I'm just not very disciplined when it comes to doing this.

I found it as notes and then i made it with a music notation program

Great! I like this tempo. I also like the slower tempo.
Actually, when I was young and had a record-player I sometimes switched the LP-speed of some Bach pieces from 33 to 45.
I have read somewhere that there was complaints to Bach that he played "too fast". We will never know how fast he played.

Anyone know why it is taken out?

I like it a bit slower but well played nevertheless!

I think there's a wrong note at 1:06. the right hand should play B-C-D, instead of B-C-Eb.

I obviously like the faster version...
it gives more soul....
the slower version doesn't suited me.
Bach never write the tempo, so you are free to play the way you like it...

slow down! ths piece is ment to be played slower.
TheElephantlover30 2 years ago
Obviously the black and white video may make the music appear faster than it really is.
tjjazzpiano 2 years ago
@tjjazzpiano Color of the video has nothing to do with how fast it SOUNDS.
Uninvited642 1 year ago 12
meant to be played slower? Bach didn't write the tempo, so we are free (yep, scary) to choose.
fcouperin 2 years ago 6
@TheElephantlover30 I like it slower, as well. But actually, it originally was a finger exercise!

men should learn that faster is not always better, this is an example, way too fast for my taste
Kurvenleger 2 years ago 2
"way too faster to my taste" ; )) that maybe means he didn't wish to follow your taste... scary thought, again!

too fast. sounds crap.

Nice, but a bit rushed. Just because it's easy, doesn't mean you get to play it fast.

You gotta syncopate~! And a one, and a two, and a three four five six.

at least roll the end. dont hammer it. from left to right, randomly all within a 32 of each.
talkingdonut 3 years ago
Too fast. No soul. Emotionally crap. Lousy shift in tempo.
Start slower...it isn't difficult techincally so there is no excuse for a bad performance.

Too fast for my liking! And theres an error at 1:04. Other than that well played.

its not an error
sometimes this measure is omitted
so it might not be recognizable
but its definitely correct.
