you sound like a good bouncer shame that one of the bouncers from my area got power to his head giving me a attitude and telling my mate if i see you with that scarf on il strangle you with it luckily we wasnt in a fit state to do anything but the dickhead let us in
I've just renewed my licence, i'm 6ft and 230lbs. I trained as a boxer many years ago and amature wrestling. I'm not the biggest guy and I hold my hands up, i've been smacked a fair few times in scuffles and removing people, but as long as you know you WILL get hit at some point and that you have a good team working with you, it's not too bad. The sia have a policy of give us the money and we'll make you a doorman, seriously, if you've never been hit or don't want to be hit, don't join. Simple.
Bozo is hardly an expletive, i used it because i wanted to. In our country we enjoy freedom of expression and that is exactly how i wanted to express myself.
Again with the strange assumptions on my character based on a mere youtube comment. As for Drum and bass club night, whats so 'funny' about that? You do realise that venues up and down the country do hold huge drum and bass club nights, wearing a stab vest is simply sensible. All of our firm wear one when we're in that atmosphere.
I understand what you're trying to do with this video, and it's good that you're explaining it for some people but i feel that it's a little silly, and i hope no one finds you because of your own lack of security by showing yourself as a badged doormann.
Misonstrued what i've written. I dont see it as some egotistical badge of power and awe and would rather be average Joe.
Thats just my personal opinion, of course if you feel that having an SIA badge gives you some amazing doorman kudos then go ahead keep bragging about it. Have some decency, i hate it when people run their gums
@CuR1i i won't waste anymore time arguing with you having a badge is a necessity for me or else i canot work, i worked for years before licencing came in so i have seen both sides of the fence. I'm a practicing bouncer in South Australia, and it seems that the rules governing UK door men are very similar to the ones over here. Everything in this video is very relevant, and gives a good insight into why we do what we do. A note to all those kids out there who think it's in vogue to rag on bouncers; perhaps if you didn't drink half the bar, take pills by the hand full and play IRL Mortal Kombat in a crowded club, we wouldn't have to throw you out by the face - It's your call.
I work in the UK and have worked in Sydney also. The licensing system is very similar- in the UK it's now run by the SIA whereas Sydney it was a New South Wales Security Licence 1abc in my case. The job on the whole is very similar though in Australia there was a very big understanding of liability bythe doorstaff, whereas in the UK it's still quite hands-on (not that Oz isn't).
BTW I worked Bondi Hotel and Kings X Hotel/Buddah's Bar in the Cross - what an experience of a place!!!!
I'm a bouncer in a very large club in norway, we have about 400 inside at once, wich is the fire limit. And we are almost never more then 4 bouncers. 2 in the door and 2 on the floor. We don't have to have a clean record or security badge. but you won't be hired if your a trouble maker or unprofesionally. But we can take a course as a bouncer with most club perfers and there you get training inn basic self -defence.
Does the door security industry in Norway not suffer from criminals operating the venue security? It was like that in the UK until the local Councils initially started licensing bouncers, then the SIA (security industry authority) took over. It cut out a lot of gangsters from running doors but also made a lot of good doormen unable to get their licence and out of work.
its silly that u have to do a course to just work on the door iv got my security badge and now got to do a course again just to get my door one its a rip off.
I enjoyed the clip....we in America have no SIA or any Natinal Standards for Bar security....it may be a good idea, to weed out the poor door staff working bars....bar security is handled by the city in my state which is Georgia. Have a good day
It is a good idea to licence door staff if there are bad people running security, however, it also leaves a lot of 'capable' people out of work as if they have/get a criminal record then they're fucked for working. There's pro's and cons to licensing schemes for door security.
Good vid! After seeing that I am definitely gonna make my license next moth because the company where i work now is getting downhill and i might get redundant soon. I visit the gym 5 times a week , got a bodybuilder physique and i know i will enjoy that job.
I'm looking into being a bouncer, I live in a big city, I'm a college student looking for some money that I can earn instead of pissing away time at money partying, I'm six foot 160, I lived in marcy projects for ten years, have a black belt in tae kwon do, and kickbox, I can handle myself. anybody with any advice? (not some jackass telling me to have my brain removed and shave my head)
your size and abillity doesnt really matter although i wont lie it does help if you know how to protect yourself. to attain the badge you must first pass training which can cost anything from 150 - 250 quid this will give . . .
. . . you an nvq level 2 in conflict management and the boring job related mush they think applies when in truth learning the abillity to remain professional when dealing with challenging personailities would be far more useful. but i digress and then once you have the qualification you can apply to the sia for a licence. if you have any criminal record check with them before you apply mas the 250 quid for a licence is non refundable!
yeah size isnt too important having an abillity to restrain and control situations is a bonus but something that comes with working in the field and gaining experience. and yes people with a licence are a comodity so you would find work easy unless your home area is saturated with doorstaff.
@sonichedgehog7 i'm 5"10 and 13 stone 10 pounds, just your average size really. i've been working the door on and off for 10 years. If you respect the customer and don't belittle people when turning them away for whatever reason then you're doing a good job, if however on the odd occasion when some technique is required to take someone out then it's handy to have a background. i boxed for 12 years but i would prefer to use other methods of removal, punching people is not what i want to do
In my yrs of being a doorman, I've come across a lot of nice people, who r very understanding and polite, even when drunk.
But now we come to the real world where they will stab, kick, thump, spit, shoot, poke, headbutt you just for asking them to calm down little, some people are complete idiots and do not care about anything and anyone !
Doorstaff are pidgeon holed as thugs which some are, but most are just average guys wanting to do job best they can and get paid at end of week.
to be honest...i think that they know there is going to be trouble working on the door 'conflict'so.....if they couldnt handle situations,then........WHY WOULD THEY DO IT? i dont think they just want to stand in the cold and wait for some piss head to fuk em over......would you?
haha, if i ever come to your club im going to buy you a drink. but then i will probably just spend the night outside talking to you, because you make me laugh. keep at it mate
There will always be harder guys out there than myself, however i worked on the doors for 7 years which pre-dates the SIA. You are correct about the paper tigers thing though a lot of newer lads working in the industry have no idea what they are getting into. They seem to fall in love with the "image". working the doors are lobbying for doorstaff to have more powers and rights but its a slow process.
this guy is fresh out of s.i.a training, come on guy u look so sad! lol im new to the doorman scene still a newbie but even i dont go on about it like that!
He sounds too experienced to be fresh out of training. A lot of door staff are ex-security officers, and customer service staff with Degrees etc. So never judge a book by it's cover.
im glad someone out there has sadi it rather than post videos of "tough guy gets beaten"
everything you say is the truth , just a sad matter that some youths do go out there looking for the fight , just to show off to there girlfriends, mates etc
Thing is when you've done it for nearly 7 years it all becomes crystal clear however hopefully not much longer ive applied to the prison service so onto better things me thinks :D
if police turn up. '' I havnt seen anyone or anything'' take it from a pro.
peace and stay safe. never let your gaurd down.

your size and abillity doesnt really matter although i wont lie it does help if you know how to protect yourself. to attain the badge you must first pass training which can cost anything from 150 - 250 quid this will give . . .
scudpower 3 years ago
. . . you an nvq level 2 in conflict management and the boring job related mush they think applies when in truth learning the abillity to remain professional when dealing with challenging personailities would be far more useful. but i digress and then once you have the qualification you can apply to the sia for a licence. if you have any criminal record check with them before you apply mas the 250 quid for a licence is non refundable!

You say size and ability to protect yourself doesn't really matter - does anyone actually hire the smaller bouncers?
I've actually just got my Door Supervisor licence, but I got it with the intention of becoming a security guard. I'm definitely not a massive guy :)

yeah size isnt too important having an abillity to restrain and control situations is a bonus but something that comes with working in the field and gaining experience. and yes people with a licence are a comodity so you would find work easy unless your home area is saturated with doorstaff.

I'm female and 5'2" and ive been working on the doors for six years..... just saying... and yes i throw out men as well

There will always be harder guys out there than myself, however i worked on the doors for 7 years which pre-dates the SIA. You are correct about the paper tigers thing though a lot of newer lads working in the industry have no idea what they are getting into. They seem to fall in love with the "image". working the doors are lobbying for doorstaff to have more powers and rights but its a slow process.
