hi yes thats ok, my girl had only 6 nipples to feed 8 puppies as two of her nipples were inverted and useless. they usually start to feed in a routine, one group then the other. no matter how many puppies she has watch to see all are geting their fair share as this is how (runts)occur in a litter, there should never be a (runt) ie undernerished. most of my smaller pupies born turn out to be the biggest by 8 weeks old only through me watching them feed. good luck.

I've never seen a bitch with only 6 nipples. Most bitches have 10 nipples, 8 of which are functional. I thought female dogs were born with 10 nipples.

I've had female dogs and they all have had 10 teats.

mabre smaller breeds have less niples due to having smaller litters. usually the two between the front legs dont work which does make ten tho. usually a bitch has 8 fully working.
