On December 10, 2009, Diane Rehm on NPR interviewed Andy Williams. It is worth listening to especially his story of his friendship with Bobby Kennedy. He was there when RFK died and sang this at his funeral as previously noted. But his telling of that story is moving in itself and worth the listen.

Wonderful rendition. Thanks so much for this video! I remember my father talking about a version of this Williams did for JFK when his body was lying in State. He walked up to the casket, and sang it, completely un-rehearsed. It wasnt caught on film or tape to anyone's knowledge. When approached about it to do it again on tape, Williams refused, saying that it came from his heart and was for JFK alone, he didnt want to commercialize it.

This has always been one of my favorite songs. It is a very moving song and was told to have been sung by both sides during the civil war. I find that ironic, that a nation so divided would hold the same song so dear to their hearts.

@numberourdays When a war is fought, the outcome is not the 'good' or the 'bad' win - The outcome is death. God doesn't want you to harm other people, regardless of how evil they are. Jesus taught that that we should love our enemies as we love our friends. In war, people are killing each other, and that's that. Also, in every war, each side thinks itself the good side. Each side is fighting for a cause. 'Good' and 'Evil' when applied to humans are distinctions that humans have fabricated.

@yazuak As much as I really dont like that statement, it kinda makes sense, and I agree with it. Theyre basically be told to fight someones elses battles. Warriors 2000 years ago only fought battles because for them and their comrades. They were distinctly seperated from the senate, instead of the pawns they are now. I still support however our troops and the liberation of the middle east. Although its kind of unrelated- Fascism = Religion Communism = Atheism.

Now, we have an all volunteeer army, manned by people who want to protect america and america's national security. I agree with you 100%, but it's really difficult to do that when we have a president apologizing for America and people who do not know much about the true American that they believe what they see on their news sources. Not all Americans are like those in New York City or Los Angeles, CA. There's about 280 million people in between whose voices are usually drowned out by New York and California lawmakers.

On December 10, 2009, Diane Rehm on NPR interviewed Andy Williams. It is worth listening to especially his story of his friendship with Bobby Kennedy. He was there when RFK died and sang this at his funeral as previously noted. But his telling of that story is moving in itself and worth the listen.

Hush all. This was sung by Andy Williams and the funeral of his friend Sen Bobby Kennedy; who thought so much of him as to ask him to be a delegate for him (Williams is a lifelong Republican). It was many, many years before OUR NATIONAL TREASURE Andy Williams could listen or sing this song again.

God has no need to have been created, since He exists either outside time (where cause and effect do not operate) or within multiple dimensions of time (such that there is no beginning of God's plane of time). Hence God is eternal, having never been created. The only possible escape for the atheist is the invention of a kind of super universe, which can never be confirmed experimentally (hence it is metaphysical in nature, and not scientific).

Thanks for your reply to my post. Yes, I have read your post. If you are arguing that the proof for God is metaphysical that is not scientific proof. IMHO God or the being who created the Universe can never be proven by the scientific method and ultimately is a question of faith. You either believe or dont't believe in such a being

Yes. With the advancing knowledge of the world and our technology, it is easy for a person to become corrupt and forget where our beliefs come from. But, as we progress into math and science, all the common criticisms come into play. Science and religion don't cope, we know that. But if we take a look at what is the back round of the Bible, we discover there is more modern science to back it up. The most common question i am referred to is "if God created everything, who created God?"
