This is sad. And it could happen to anyone. ANYONE.You never know what bad luck can come upon you -your marriage ends, you lose your job, , your insurance,your health. I have seen people who had everything and ended up with nothing. Yes, some have addictions, some appear to not want to work but I believe they have a reason. No one wants to live like that. The strong need to help the weak. Temporary help, not endless welfare, food assistance. Opportunity- Education and jobs.

Thankyou for making this video. It is always interesting to learn about what is happening in other countries and it is very sad to see a place such as Tent City. With a shortage of housing in Australia, there are many people finding themselves in circumstances much the same as I have viewed in this video. I personally feel the government of Canada could do more as there is tremendous wastage of money in so many ways and this could be directed at this problem. Greed is the problem.

The reality is, there is no such thing as being truly homeless. All 1 needs is an "intent to rent" from a prospected landlord, and you have a home. Welfare gives you a startup cheque to get you first and last month's rent, and to buy food. Being "homeless" is a personal choice, not a choice made for you. I know, I was there at one point in time.

I have seen people who had everything and ended up with nothing. Yes, some have addictions, some appear to not want to work but I believe they have a reason. No one wants to live like that. If you can FIND a job these days.................the economy is in the toilet bowl here in the United States, so where are the jobs??? I've been out of work for about a half of year now (single, childless, and I don't touch a damn dime from public assistance), put in something like 200+ resumes and applications, and I don't want to work??? I'm too lazy to get a job?? What does it take to get a job these days??? Say that you will work for free?

id rather rob a bank and sit in prison. My wife has lost her job and so did i a while back. I have a job that pays less then half and a second part time job,those jobs where really hard to find as well. I can honestly see how this can happen to people so quickly. Just keep looking forward and dont give up.

in germany there always has been an opportunity in times of crisis: you can rent a small piece of land with an arbour where you aren´t allowed to live in acting as a farmer to get some extra food. in good times this was a solution for poor people having a bit of holiday and became "square" but i think this idea will return as a solution for the crisis.

for these ignorants who think job losses are only a problem for a minority: the crisis is also in europe, think global. i´ve been working for mercedes benz in germany and lost my job, the whole company´s at the end. i had a college education and no one gives me a job because of the crisis. if i hadn´t my parents i also would be sort of a tent city citizen

You know what's funny is some of the young folks you have living there tell me how there's no predjuce no classes and everyone is treated fairly, I knew they were full of crap.

land belongs to noone. the claiming of land is a way to keep other people awy from the god given materials and to gain control over them. these people are as capable of extracting metals plastics, etc , as much as anyone.they can be taught to bring forth great fortunes. they can be taught to cut trees and work with wood. these people could create their own succesfull nation. everything is kept away from them tho.
