  • I WILL NEVER GO SWIM THERE EVER

  • People commenting on this have no sense of humor...

  • The second person should be in the water. WTF? She is dead at that point. AWFUL!!! did they receive their certification?

  • wow we train to save people not on how to kill them just saying

  • yeah im a lifeguard and they tell us in all are inserviceies to get the vitium to the shallow end or somewhere we can touch

  • Haha everyone is hating on how bad they were. Granted I'd probably rather let them leave me in the pool than to see how much they could paralyze me, but they admitted it was bad. Also, who backboards in the deep end?!

  • @SqualoSurf20 redcross teaches backboarding in the deep end

  • @Strykercom1 Hmmmm strange. I am Ellis certified and we just move em to shallow water. Also I assumed thats why you had to get the brick and swim 25 yards with just your legs so you could get to the shallow end.

  • @SqualoSurf20 yeah im not really sure why they want it done in the deep end, its much more difficult and tires the gaurds out more quickly, maybe so you move the victim as little as possible and stabilize them faster

BSA wants them moved to the shallow to

  • @Strykercom1 Deep spinals are practised for the situation in which you are in a deep tank and there is no shallow end. Most regular pool options won't teach it, but something like a waterpark option would for those bigger pools, depending on where you're lifeguarding and what lifeguarding program you are required to take.

  • you let go of the head!!!!!

  • damn....the victim could've died at several different points during that procedure, taking the fact it is obviously a mock-rescue into account, these two need a lot more practice

  • god i hate that hold :/

  • Wow. They did almost everything wrong

  • kids doing men's work...and with no serious manners...Hopefully I live far from u...those things kills the way serious people is training for lifeguard...

  • did you SERIOUSLY let go of her head during a spinal rescue?...........fail.

  • awfull...discrace to rescue personel, not funny at all.

  • if she had a spinal injury or it was sspected he couldnt backboard her like that. just stupid cuz that could be serious

  • I hope this is a video to train the Life guards the strict No Nos in an actual scenario...

  • never pass the uk lifeguard course, with that shit, mad a "bad spinal!" a hundred times worse, i hope your pool is insured, if that was real youd be sued.

you need new lifeguards and better training.

  • @LEEinHVO You will be suprised at some of the fools who passed the UK national lifeguard course. The only thing they got right was the timed swims. They was terrible at theory and cpr etc. They passed, I was shocked. Although they did spinal better than this guy....barely.

  • Idiots.... and that's why they are pool guards not ocean guards...

  • Not serious

  • shouldn't you use the vice grip thing in deep water

  • @aznelfboi Vice sucks in deep water if your boarding. Once you get your casualty to the wall, they cant get their patient onto the board because of your hand behind their head, you need to do an adjustment (change holds with the 2nd guard) The best from what I've used is the Canadian Log roll(or log roll)Arms above head then held by your hand no transition, and the 2nd guard can immobilize their head/neck right away, then do the rest of the boarding.. Theres more details. tht is a rough descrip

  • I am sure Ellis and Associates would be interested in viewing this video. Talk about liability for organizations....the sad thing is its not the training but the individuals who don't take lifeguarding seriously.

  • Fuck, the 1st guard is a retard. I know it's a drill, but if youre going to do one at all, do it properly!! If the spinal board isn't in there in time make a wide circle, don't just stand there. 2nd guard isn't any better, get that fucking spinal board in there fast!! There is no 3rd guard, and oh god do these guys need it. The way you train is the way your perform. I would not trust these guys with my kids. I've performed about 3 spinals as 1st guard, and only been working for a year.

  • wth there are soooo many mistakes omg

  • she wants it bad.

  • Lifeguard tube should not be used as a floating device in a swimming pool, wrong immobilization technique (main immobilization at the head, then the torso, then the legs), at least another lifeguard should be in the water, no use of the third lifeguard available, second lifeguard is not in a good position on the side of the pool, board should always be level with the pool deck, board should never be dragged around (those things cost a lot) and I could continue

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • these guys are horrible.

  • strap her to the board then drown her LOL just jokin

  • @DROLL30 Except apparently spineboards float! One of my lifeguard friends tried it (he wanted to houdini his way out of it) but all he did was bob in the water!

  • wow dis is so tarrible. yu dont put dem on a rescue tube and he needs to b in front of them wen he grabs their arms.. ohh man they are fired! lol

  • IM surprised that the simulation did not end up into a real severe spinal injury, sry u stink!!!

  • there are SOOO many errors here i'd be terrified to swim at your facility. im a lifeguard and went through my training this is just wow....

  • faaaaaaaaail

  • Fail one NEVER TAKE A GUEST OUT OF VICE GRIP. WTF

  • What lifeguard Cert. did these people have? It is extremely easy to do a spinal extrication with only two guards. We had a spinal victim just last week at my facility and it was done exceptionally well with only two guards.

  • just curious who you did your trainging through, bc i was taught a different way

  • did u guys bought ur own cerfitication?

  • yea your suppose to put the board vertical down the side of the wall and the first responder needs to give the second responder and hand then remover the tube and from there procede to take her out of the water. What they did was way wrong. Im an ellis guard. o and you have to place the tube under the board. Another thing is you have 2 minutes to get the mid out of the water so this would be a major fail.

  • The "Don't hurt her!" at the end was pretty ironic...

  • Although may have been a epic fail I am a lifeguard and it is as hard as HELL to do spinals in deep water. Just a tip, NEVER stop swimming in circles to keep her legs up until the backboard is in the water ready to go. Good luck!

  • nice to know how safe this is and WHO can actually save us

  • lol

  • Ellis guards suck... wow. How did you pass your class. This isn't even funny I hope no one gets hurt at your pool with sorry ass "lifeguards" like this. I'm a supervisor, if you worked for me you would be fired.

  • @WorldPhuckinChamps08 How ignorant are you? How do you even know these are Ellis guards? Red Cross sucks! ELLIS BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, the tube definitely goes under the backboard, and the secondary guard doesn't hold the GID's head, he's supposed to be holding the guest by the triceps.. Horrible vicegrip shown in the video, I'm an Ellis guard, I know....

  • she should be on the rescue tube and you back boarded her wrong. you need more people to help

  • man that is NOT how to do a two man spinal at all haha wow fail, you totally killed them. 4min? yup they went into shock

  • okayyy soo you dont backboard in deep water.

  • Epic Fail

  • yea this doesnt look like the proper way, isnt the second life guard with the board supposed to hold the victim by the wrists? and then the second lifeguard getting out and putting the patient on the board and pulling the board with the patient on to the asphalt pulling uppward and down?

  • Well...its a joke and you guys had fun with it.

You had the right concept. Just you need more people and you shouldn't put the rescue tube under her back, only her legs but I guess with more people it would have worked out better.

    Are You Guys Ellis ?

I Thought I Heard The Girl Say "Im Sending This To Ellis" lol.

  • LMAO she def woulde died. this isa faillllllll

  • wtf is there a tube under her u only use the tube under the backboard if u have to to keep it from sinking this is horribly wrong

  • lol this guys dumb...

at least it wasnt a real situation or this guy might have just had a lawsuit on his hands :P

  • Lol judging by the laughing and the video description, you all need to relax...

  • yeah what the hell is she doing on a tube if she has a spinal youre supposed to help her float to you get her over a backboard lol this is a complete fail

  • Comment removed

  • Fail...utter fail...I hope none of you are lifeguards today...

  • WTF is a spinal pt doing on a rescue tube?!?

    '

    Sooo many critical fails....

  • @apumic in deep water, using an arm splint as completely fine. Actually, red cross will tell you to use one if you dont...

  • @horsefreak104 I would use the head neck chin splint that is a better way to do things

  • Red Cross is a great program, but this is why it is looked down upon....

  • Hahaha I'm sure this is just like their first time trying this during training. This looks the first time I tried a spinal.

  • @Fiishes the first time i tried doing a spinal and putting them on the board it went much more smoothly.

  • this is crazy even to be joking around in lifeguard uniforms.. i hope the people who live there see this and never go there.. there back boarding skills are very poor. you never put a tube under a suspected spinal

  • fail

    jeez

this is why you dont put the tube under a spinal guest/victim

    jeez

  • should have taken her strait to the shallow end without the tube under her. it would have injured her more

  • funny, but hopefully this is just a joke not an inservice...

  • they splinted her head wrong. they should have done the head splint with her arms like they did but then wen they brought the back board they should have dont the head and chin support and the back board wouldn't have slipped like it did. and 2 their should have been both the lifegaurds in the water they have more control wen you are level with the victim. just completed my lifegaurding class by the way.

  • good example for doing it WRONG

  • aginst red cross

  • yes very much.

i hope this is fake do you?

  • Good god, they are using a CJ backboard. I'd hate to see them use a plastic one.

  • poor

  • Yeeee NLS :))) Me 2 :P Just got it last week :P I would just do a Vice Rollover and bring her to the shallow end and then spinal boarded.... Right?

  • yay!

  • she would have died

  • totally wrong rescue if it was a spinal i hope you guys dont ever get a spinal well at least with those 2 on stand

  • You guys suck... If she wasn't paralyzed before, she definitely is now.

  • Great for training on what not to do

  • Wow, even as an LGI, I don't think I've ever seen something quite so...awful. Even for joking around, it's poor techinique...did you get in touble at work???

  • 4:26 - "don't hurt her" lol too late for that

  • ELLIS RULES.....red cross sucks

  • "what are you doing?!"

    "saving you.."

    pfff KILLING YOU.

  • There are so many things they did wrong with this. I hope that what they did was all a joke and they dont do this for real.

  • this is just sooo bad. it would be one thing if they were doing it correctly and joking around but they aren't!

  • This is horable!!!! The worst spinal ever, they did everything wrong. 1st puttining her on a tube, enless red cross does that, that is horrible. Never at Ellis pools.

  • umm even if this was a joke its unprofessional and it makes your pool look bad and why are you putting a fucking tube under her head? my aquatic director would fire us if we acted like this during a scenario

  • I think that girl died almost 20 times during the "Immobilisation"!

  • i have a few comments ...

    1) i would suggest that you take this down because you can be held legally responsible

    2) if an employer ever saw this they would never hire you because you are unprofessional and your skills are in dire need of help

    3) what ever happened to slant bored in the shallow end!

    4) that vice works better than the Canadian for slant boarding

    5) you guys should really get some practise in and stop guarding till you are competent again

  • its not real

  • Lol the only thing left to do is ask a yes or no question

  • you ever heard of a vice grip

  • if she has a spinal, why would you put a tube under her head

    you guys suck

  • omg if this was real that girl would never walk again.you guys suck.rookies!!glad i was trained properly.

  • gosh! I'm scared, hope never have a problem at that pool... I would not even ask for a band aid, who knows what would I get instead!

  • Ha Ha omg I remember Seafari. I used to work there and at Rinnie. No offense guys but you really sucked on that spinal. Maybe you guys should take down this video. That way if you really do get a spinal, you won't have anything showing poor training.

  • i done my NPLQ in england 2 weeks ago. if i had done what they have done in this video my trainer would have kicked my butt and sent me home. what a shame on us serious Lifeguards. we train like it was for real these guys need to grow up.

  • they should be in the shallow end with 3 gaurds

  • Posting this was not a smart move. Anything happens at that facility with those guards and it goes to court this would be used as evidence against them. Number 1 rule "Never ever document anything that is done poorly because it will come back and bite you"

  • agh! stop being a hussy and get in the water...almost 5 minutes to get her out of the water?! disgusting

  • I could mention all of the mistakes made in the video, but that would be pointless seeing how everything's been said.

Hope this group didn't get audited. :(

  • WOW!! this is crazy there a bunch of rookies!!!

i sure as hell would not want to work with them

  • WOW! 1)should have been out of the pool in 3 min.

    2) never put a tube under a spinal victim These guards sucked!!

Yeah must have been red cross Ellis guards rule!!

  • Just FYI this facility is Ellis. E & A may be better in some aspects of lifeguarding, they may also offer better training. All of that doesn't matter, because the training rests in hands of who you hire. If you hire people who don't care or are irresponsible, your guards will suck and lives will be lost.

  • this is so embarrassing to all guards. oh my god. and the worst part is, this seems to be part of a class. i hope it's an inservice.

  • As a YMCA Lifeguard Instructor, I don't know whether to cry or laugh to this awful video...

  • OMG, I goona guess this is in the usa as the british NPLQ don`t use torpedo bouys 4 spinals. Also spinals need atleast 5 lifeguards to be legal. Are you guys even lifeguards or you just wana be`s?

  • i hope this was a joke.

there are crappy guards in all certifications. it depends on the instructors and who trained them and on up.

  • wow thank God it was just practicing cause with the rescue tube in the back he damage more the spinal injury hehe but thats why ur suppost to practice to make it better

  • This is brutal.

  • wow, let me guess...red cross lifeguards? Have any of you seen "touched by a drowning"?

  • of course they're red cross guards who else would let them let go of a vice grip...that was the worst deep water spinal i have ever seen!

    you an Ellis guard?

  • Yeah. Ellis guards are the bomb!!

  • they say life over limb in the video, so they're def Ellis or Starguard. Prolly just joking around too much to take this stuff seriously. I've delt w/ a real spinal on a 5 year old little girl who came off one of our tube slides, and trust me, there was not much laughing goin on.

  • wow, you must be a pro.

  • yea i have seen it .. tons of time.. and the funny thing is a red cross indoor water park near the pool i work which is ellis asked to borrow it.. why WOULD A RED CROSS PLACE WANNA BORROW A TAPE THAT BASHES RED CROSS.. haha ellis is way better

  • Also, you are stabilizing the head wrong. Both lifeguards should be in and at all times you should never reach over the victim to grab the straps.

  • Number one spinal is done in the water. Number two if you were back boarding that way, then you are supposed to hold the victim with his wrists while the first lifeguard gets out and gets the board. You would have definately killed your victim.

  • wow u guys suck

the second rescuer didnt even get in the water...you would have surely compromised the spinal of the victim...sad

  • her head was not even supported for half of the time FUCKEN FAIL

  • Fucking fail.

  • why wern't her arms secured tis tis tis what org are you guys certed through

  • Its funi. I wanna try it PLEASE

  • Ill come one day and u can rescue me. PLZ. I find them so cute.

  • This is sickening. With me in the water and one other guard on the board I can get a spinal from the center of a pool in under 2 minutes.

  • yeah she is paralyzed haha

  • LOL and what pool is this? just want to know so i can avoid it when i am in the area LMAO. jk jk. But the title says it all :)

  • I hope this was not an audit!

  • TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Being an asst pool manager for Ellis, it makes me wanna put more pressure on my guards. Not only could you get her on the bored & you didn't move the tube out from under her.... AND you lost C-Spine more then once...

  • wow, r210n, dont even say i suck, i was in an unconscious rescue last year and i was holding the seal easy on the boys face and we brought him back to life with rescue breathing. Yes, lifeguarding is a serious subject and we know this is not good at all, it's all in fun you retard.

  • I agree man. I am an asst pool manager. There is a time for shits and giggles and then there is a time to be serious. I have been involved emergencies before so i see where you are coming from. Hey people its a joke! get over it! We also have our funny times like this... hehe.

  • yes.. my pool jokes around but its usually the guard acting as the guest in distress is the one fooling around when they ask questions .. like where do you live. and they answer your mom.. or when they ask what medication do you take.. they answer Viagra.. stupid stuff like that but the guards doing to rescue do it professionally

  • seriously its not funny at all that is a serious business yall really are a an embarrassment to all lifeguards everywhere.....you suck

  • remind me to never go to that pool... ever

  • ha ha good one!

  • what the hell, i would have failed both those guys, but was kinda funny

  • how could the water b 12 ft. high?

  • lol, I'm not too sure, but at my pool, she'd be dead, lol, nice! I liked it a lot!

  • that is a really awful spinal! I hope you guys weren't really trying that hard. haha. There were soo many things that you all did wrong.

  • psshhhh she wasn't even strap checked!

  • wrong lol u need to put the torpedo boid under teh calfs this ensures that teh head is not raised out of teh water and bending teh legs well done next time it might jus be a real person and guess who will be blammed for killing them listen in training!!

  • haha that looks about right..atleast the guys that did it where cute and didnt push ur head under..mine did..lol

  • lol, that might have been messin around, but that was still the worst spinal save and backboarding I've ever seen.... haha

  • They were messing around. Read the description people.

  • good that not real. meny mistakes. shes be paralized

  • Totally agree, whatever happened to the vice grip turn? Are you American?
