I'm shocked from how easily ignorant on flying people are comenting.
1000ft above on an IFR flight? have the whole family onboard ? Maybe live in different countries just to avoid a meteor strike then.....
Anyway nice flight, but I must say that the kids need headsets or something to eliminate noise since the damage in ears is added over the years :) Have good flights and safe landings
Thanks. We started shortly after that giving them "Swimmers Wax." It worked great but, sometimes I would look back there and find they were using it as chewing gum! Anyway, they're old enough to wear youth headsets now.
@tdafforn Swimmers Wax ear plugs are a bad idea. I heard of someone wearing plugs and after the landing they couldn't get them out. On the descent when the pressure started increasing, the plugs kept the low pressure blocked inside the ears creating suction. It was very painful to remove those plugs back on the ground. Beautiful film and family. Safe flying pal. :)
@spithakos Agreed. I've had about a 30% hearing loss since I was a little kid. It didn't prevent me from getting a third-class medical (thank God), but it's been hindrance to my life every single day. Get the kids some damn ear protection--50 cent earplugs if nothing else--and once they get older don't let them use the lawnmower without ear protection, either.
You clearly violated the minimum requirements of staying at least 1000 ft above the clouds for collision avoidance. Don't do a stupid thing like this again!
Maybe you can read a little...."The best part about getting an instrument rating..." Or go review your VFR in Class G or B airspace. I'd tell you to fly away but, I'm pretty certain you don't know how to.
Nice video. Not sure I'd have the guts to take my family in IMC in a 172, but I don't think there's anything crazy about it. I agree with you that everybody takes risks. Your kids will probably have wonderful memories of flying with you, and that's worth a lot. But seriously, get some headsets for the kids! If you don't believe me, find somebody who flew Cessnas back in the day when they used the hand held mike and no headsets, and ask them how their hearing is. You'll probably have to yell.
that is bad luck to have the whole family on board the same flight. Don't you think you're tempting fate? An entire segment of your family tree would be gone forever if something were to happen G-D forbid
Ignore the stupid questions this is an amazing view and very safe! Nice vid!!

yep, that is definitely not VFR on top. I'm a commercial pilot with an IFR rating any you are clearly violating the VFR requirements.

Tough crowd down there. Great video though! I love that feeling of being able to see the sun even on a cloudy day.
