they're actually british. Becki and Rose come from Brighton, so did their previous bandmate Julia. Until she quit, and she was replaced with Gwenno, who was a solo Welsh artist. now they make the pipettes. but they're classifyed as all "brighton bread" even though Gwenno is from Cardiff, Wales.

They played it in the Uni the other day so I guess they're just starting off, haven't heard them in the UK before this week.

fatdragon100, they haven't just started off. They formed the band in mid 2003 i believe, with Julia as their band mate, but she decided it wasnt her thing. So they got Gwenno ( the platnum blonde, not the one with the glasses)to replace her. I believe "we are the pipettes" was released in the UK in 2005. im not sure about the year. BUut the North American release was October 8th, 2007. im pretty sure.

they've been around for a while, its just no ones really noticed this amzing band!

First I sat on a rock and listened to a music I kinda liked, didn't know where it was coming from, cuz a tree blocked my view to the stage.. I had to run closer and I fell in love! Well, you should know, concertmedia, that despite their enormous influence from the 60's, The Pipettes is NOT a traditional girl band, so they DON'T need to get rid of any modern thing. They are trying to re-use the music of the 60's in another way. If you don't like it, bye-bye.

This isn't the worst thing that I've ever listened to and I respect what they're trying to do (I'm a fan of the Phil Spector produced girl bands), but if they're going to do something retro like this, they need to get rid of some of the horrible modern tones/production techniques. Not to mention that this song is almost a direct melodic lift from another song. I can't place which one yet, though. I'll respond eventually once I find it.

Saw them at Reading and although they are cute and fun to listen to (and their backing band was GORGEOUS) they are a bit too 'retro' almost on the point of being a novelty act. Girls Aloud have modernised the whole 60's girl group thing and The Pipettes should try and bring their act up to date in their own way too.
