"...education in music is most sovereign, because more than anything else rhythm and harmony find their way to the inmost soul and take the strongest hold upon it." Plato, Republic II

  • My favorite song off the album. Absolutely magical, after seeing this I had had the yearning to pick up my dusty harmonica and blow a few notes.

  • This is a GREAT CD! These guys are just amazing together.

  • some people can play harmonica, and then there's Brendan Power!

  • i totally agree

    Danny

  • Just bought the album off iTunes,,,these guys kick ass!

  • yes just a bit but I love it

  • man this is really good, but my only criticism is that the harmonica overpowers the guitar just a little. Other than that top notch!

  • Isn't the harmonica playing lead?

Imo the guitar is just supporting the harmonica.

  • well I don't mean in that sort of sense. I meant more along the lines of there isn't even volume distribution between the instruments.

  • dunno, it's like solo over rhythm guitar. Probably meant that way

  • Wicked! Hope to see you both in Cape Breton upon October! Sláinte.

  • Brilliant performance!!

Brendan Power actually wrote "Farewell to Muswell Hill", and it is featured & credited on Gillian Boucher's "Elemental" CD album where she duets with Andrew on violin in lieu of the harmonica.

  • An absolutly brilliant piece of music. Can we expect more? Please!!!

  • nice harmonica vibrato at the end

  • really good! make some more songs the 2 of u together. I love the way u guys are doing the promotion this way, no interference from the big conservative record label companies. really glad to see good musicians using the internet in this way.

  • lol i was SO surprised by the harmonica player i was blown away and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! and andrew was awesome once again

  • Unglaublich!!!! wunderschönes Duett!!! Danke

  • is there any way to get tabs for this? and a harmonica partition?

  • i think they might be a bit offensive if they would switch there sub names :p great song!

  • Brendan Power. The king on mouth organ!

  • Not the king... its the god!

  • YEAH!

  • simply amazing..

  • Great music.

I could have got this for free but I went and bought it at candyrat. Music this good should be paid for. I hope it encourages them to keep doing albums together.

  • agree!

  • Same, I feel guilty about everything else on my iTunes, but candyrat tracks are the only ones I buy.

  • @pvaz i literally couldnt bring myself to steal this

  • how the fuck did you do that with the harmonica!

  • @rottingorange Its obvious. He is god with a harmonica. Duh :P

  • @rottingorange

you blow though the holes on it lol

  • @rottingorange you do that the fuck with a particular harmonica called a 'chromatic' harmonica. They are often a little pricier, but (look close) have a spring loaded button on one end, that allows for half-whole step combinations through its adept usage, that are unachievable with a typical harmonica. They also come in various keys, like regular harmonicas, and with some of the longer lengths can have a respectable range of octaves, and as this expert shows, colors and wide dynamic range.

  • @rottingorange it is chromatic harmonijca not a diatonic - it is easy (for me)

  • reminded me of the vinnie pooh cartoon intro

  • lol you made my day

  • Did the night end magically? :)

  • When i first heard this song i was very impressed. It is very soothing and very fun to listen to :)

  • Amazing, simply amazing. Maybe the best music I have heard in my entire life. Thank you Brendan and Andrew.

  • Wow...

  • ok..there are two of us right now....and neither of us has anything to say, can you even call that a harmonica anymore?! you guys have it, you got it, and you have had it for a long time. keep on keepin' on

  • reel*

  • what key? G?

  • Andrew is playing in C major so I would guess Brendan would follow suit.

Although I've tried hitting notes on both my C harps, and havent hit a thing. Thats all I have for you.

  • its a chromatic harmonica so he has a little slider on the side as well as alternate breathing to get different notes. its amazing. well done!

  • fuckin eh' like the celtic scale on the harmonica and nice cord progression on the guitar.

    KEEP PICKEN!!

    From Canada!

  • Beautiful!!

    Willem

  • Harmonicas create tones when the player is breathing in, as well as breathing out...

  • fuck an a this is awesome!

  • Soooo beautiful!!

  • i don't know how to play a harmonica, but i'm pretty certain that playing this is close to impossible. when the hell does he breath?

  • he breaths in and out while playing, i think.

  • You can push the air in your mouth out, with the muscles in your cheeks. While doing that you can break in through your nose with your lungs. Its a technique called circular breathing practiced by many wind instrumentalists, as well as people who meditate.

  • Comment removed

  • Its called a nose...lol..Think of it like a didgeridoo? you train yourself to brethe through your nose and out your mouth at the same time for hours a time

  • no no dude harmonicas you play while breathing in and out, lol

  • I thought you could only either expand or contract your lungs at one time, not both at the same time. -_-a I could be wrong, though. Do you have the ability to inhale with one lung while exhaling with the other? O_o

  • Comment removed

  • HAHHAHAHA sorry but ur comment was funny man :P

  • It was meant to be funny. :^3 I was being sarcastic in the first sentence and rhetorical in the last.

  • I guess you've never tried a harmonica

  • rpoland has such awsome telant i love it

  • hell yea.. their musicians are fucking amazing... Andy Mckee has to be my favorite though pure genius...

  • oh my fucking god

    AWESOME

  • very great musical quality !!!!

  • 1:11 to 1:32 is my fav part. i have no idea why i like this song so much.... usually harmonica is too overpowering but he plays it so well it's actually calming. It makes me happy to listen to!

  • My sentiments exactly. These guys are amazing musicians. And it's not hard to see why you like it so much. They do so well.

  • Good song.

  • if you were thinking in white power....uhmm yeah sounds disturbing XD but GREAT GREAT music is just amazing.

  • holy shit. harmonica dude is owning it up. how the hell does he breathe so steadily while playing that ridiculous harmony?! O.o

  • Epic.

  • love

  • haha, Power & White .. xD I thought something else

  • haha i know same

  • You know what, if you inhale in a harmonica, it still plays the note. I betchya that's what he's doing. You can even sort of hear them, they come out as the quieter note. STILL, he's gotta be the fastest breather I've ever seen. :P

  • WRONG if you inhale in a harmonica it plays another note.. i know, cous i play harmonics myself

  • you're wrong, whe you inhale in a harmonica you play a drifferent note, i know that because i play harmonica myself..

  • its common so cool

  • UP TO THE SKY

  • gosh.. harmonicas use soo much air.. i wonder if he's ever fainted from playing so much.....

  • Amazing harmonica....absolutely inspiring !

  • thins=this :S sorry fellow listeners

  • Just awesome.

  • SUPER !!!

  • FREAKIN RIDICULOUS HARMONICA.

    Omg. That's some beautiful stuff.

  • love it! love it! love it!

  • the only thing that can top this duo is one person playing both the harmonica and the guitar!

  • nooo. the only thing that can beat that is a person playing hermonica and guitar better than power and white combined.

  • These guys have golden ears...

  • this is absolutely awesome.

  • These two guys make an amazing duo, I would happily buy their CD if I had the money or debit/credit card to do so :(

  • Namaste!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that sounds celtic, and i love it!

  • Great musicians, both of you. Got a lot of talent right here.

Harmonica almost sounds like a violin or something.

  • this sounds so much like irish traditional music, the melody and chord progression, it's so cool.
