you're not supposed to cut it like that the splinters go inside the fruit if u do it that way. When I was in Algeria last summer (where my mum is from) this fruit grows on a cactus and u get these kids that sell it and their hands are immune to the splinters cos they are so used to them, their skin thickens. I personally cant take the pain of one of the splinters, they have a tiny bit of poison in them which is y they hurt so much

People prolly already told you this. Haha but I'll go ahead and say it. The correct way to eat it is by cutting top and bottom about an inch, then slice it down the middle long ways, just nearly cutting the skin, then you peel it off and enjoy. Seeds you swallow duffus!! ;)
