  • @ schildgen1...we had a very severe storm like 10 days after you shot this that caused alot of flooding around DBQ and east DBQ and like i said i live close to one of these things and the storm was so bad that the sirens went off and i didnt hear them at all cuz of the rain and thunder and high winds...imagine living close to a storm siren and not even hearing it during a very bad storm

  • in cedar rapids abt 2hours west the we have a nuclear power plant in Palo and we have 2 distinct sounds to our sirens,...one for tornado and the other for nuclear power plant emergency...being that you are so close to CR it is used for the same in Dubuque and in Davenport and cities along the way on hwy 30 and 151

  • Dubuque sounds their sirens with both tones. They mean the same thing, but a few residents went to the EMA saying that they couldn't hear the steady tone, so they added the hi-lo in there to help out.

  • @ 2:35 This is the hi-low signal!

some communities use it for flood warning or fire calls :P

  • i want one to play my music through

  • i live in dubuque almost next to one of these and these are loud as hell

  • @ketterdude2 I know what you mean. I wonder what it sounds like when you put your ear next to it?

  • Its actually a Whelen 4004

  • @TheSirenSpot I don't reallly know all the tornado siren names because I only hear tornado sirens once a year.

  • good video!

  • @TheSecurityFreak Did you know on 7/22/10 there was a tornado warning and that was the day I left from vacation.

  • @schildgen1 No... I live 4900 miles away from you :)
