  • Very touching Eric; I live in your home town here in Suffolk, you often cross my mind. My love to Kandy and the kids.

    You're missed around here. RIP.

  • The greatest! I went to a tribute concert in a little theatre in Sleaford Lincs - just after he died. His Dad was over from Ireland. I wish I hadn't been so English and self conscious and tried to say to his Dad -even cack handedly how much Eric's music had meant to me. So theres a lesson for you young 'uns - don't be stand offish. Express your feelings! Otherwise you regret it!

  • This is the first time I've seen Eric Roche play. I'm gobsmacked. (and I've seen Preston Reed and other slapping and tapping "virtuosos".)

Passion is what its all about, every time.

  • I still miss him saying "Hi, Eric here", when introducing his monthy CD column for Guitar Techniques magazine. Great transcriptions and music.

  • Yhis is what true musicianship is about! Just beautiful, passionate and now missing in our lives. Take up the task of reaching this excellence!RIP

  • @topcat2726 - he was a friend of mine. I popped in to spend a few days at a summer school at the ACM; the kids there were on a 7-day course (this was in summer 2001) and were laughing about "acoustic" lesson prior to it starting - they'd wanted more DaveK.

I never commented on you, what your projects are or what you do; and I don't know what your class was like. My comment stands as that is what the class at that summer school week was like.

I'm not sure why the personal insult is necessary.

  • He was a really nice guy - I met him a few times over the years. And possibly the most inspirational guitarist I'll ever meet. I will never forget seeing him do a teaching session at the Academy of Contemporary Music for a group of 30 Metal-head teenagers who laughed at the idea of an acoustic guitar lesson when he walked in the room.

By the end of the lesson, they'd decided that they no longer wanted to be Van Halen and needed to buy acoustics instead.

    R.I.P. Eric.

  • @dwtone well considering i went to ACM and im not a metalhead and have my own acoustic project id say you are being an idiot. in fact i only remember there being a few metalheads at all. He was the head of guitar and a great teacher. always be missed.

  • Thanks for posting this, its the closest to the performance he gave at the 2004 workshop. It demonstrates the total passion he had for his playing.

  • Superbe...Une de mes préférées..BRAVO!

  • @bigf3108

he can't keep on, he's dead since 2005
