  • Um, Gwen needs to lay off the steroids... XD

Seriously, This was a very cleverly done video! I love both versions of the song...:)

  • there is no comparison........talk talk rocks

  • Ah, now we know what Gwen Steffani sounds like without digital voice enhancement. :)

  • moral of the story: don't piss a woman off. LOL

  • Good Job Sir!

  • @petiekas im a girl but thanks!

  • both are great

  • hell of a job. Nice one

  • Talk Talk own that song, sorry No Doubt.

  • POS version

  • I prefer Talk Talk's version, but No Doubt did a pretty good job.

  • The original is much better and I can't believe they let them destroy that song. I saw on a video show in early 80s when talk talk came out with it.

  • Don't care for the remake by No Doubt, so putting the original song into the video is a great improvement, IMO.

  • wonderful marriage....

  • fucking awsome!!!!!!one of the best song...of the both of them

  • lol this is awesome

  • yah!it the better of the two songs but with a video of the hot woman instead of the funny looking english guy!the best of both worlds!

  • if you do a cover than you put your own stamp on it this is watered down talk talk(and i like early no doubt) no disrespect to gwen but I saw them in England in the 80s .I am 42 now so if she is 43 as she claims the I am the king of England!

  • Talk talk's version for sure!

  • This is actually quite clever.

  • Gwen my favorite..when you back to sing again

  • Great Job!!

  • The video mashup is great. The No Doubt cover didn't really add anything to the original song, it was a pretty bland cover. For a great cover check out Devo doing Satisfaction or Hendrix doing All Along the Watchtower. Both of those show that a cover should be so much more than just playing someone else's music.

  • TALK TALK!!! ever, There's no comparison.

  • This is a great mashup! It really syncs up with the original Talk Talk song. I love both versions for different reasons, and use the song for my burlesque solo!!!

  • No doubt about it Talk Talk rule

  • very well done ;-D

  • The original is FAR better then anything the americans can do

  • I heard a mix on the radio with both versions together. Does anyone know where I can find them both singing ?

  • awesome! i love the no doubt video, but i think, the talk talk version is better ^^

  • ahahahahahah

  • If Gwen lip-synced she`d be pretty good at it.

  • i prefer no doubt, i just love gwens voice!

  • GREAT idea for a video. Nice job. Loved this song when Talk Talk did it. Loved it again when Gwen got ahold of it. I generally HATE remakes, but I thought No Doubt kept pretty true to the song.

  • its one of the songs that even though its done 20yrs later its still awesome, most songs dont turn out that way!!! but this one? awesome!!

  • Talk Talk is so much better, end of discussion.

  • Massively: Brilliant!

  • Nice work

  • Only Gwen could look so sexy being fried to a crisp in the Electric Chair.

  • like them both for a copy gwen (No Doubt) does a good version though Talk Talk are better

  • I JUST LOVE IT ,SHE GET THEM GOOD.LOL

  • Its a great sync job - did you have to "stretch" any of the video or is the cover that close?

  • @Piers40 the cover is pretty much word for word, i didn't need to adjust it really, which is quite surprising, the only bit tweeked was the music in the middle, the original has more music (where it fades in/out)

  • Gwen Stefani - I wish I was in your life!

  • Talk Talk version is way better!

  • I like them both! :D

But I grew up listening to No Doubt's <3

  • i respect a lot of older songs and that it was good original but the no doubt version was an improved modernized version

  • no doubt is better... no doubt about it

  • talk talk rules the first is the best remakes are not as good as the first just like duranduran

  • No Doubt and Talk Talk, both versions are absolutly awesome. I don't know which one is the best....it's too hard to decide.

  • fuckin good job dude!!!!

  • Talk talk's video shows animal & jungle images . No doubt's video shows a very rebel girl life. Both are very diferent

  • this is cool! good job! i like both versions of this song....Talk Talk is my 80's high school soundtrack and Gwen modernized the song and made it different...i try to like everything...or at least listen and see if i like it.....and i'm not 20 years old anymore...lol

  • No Doubt did a very good job with Talk Talk's song. And the video is pretty nice too :)

  • good edit..think i like the music of the older one better..but the video of the second one

  • no duobt is so awsome !!!

n la cancion con el tono de gwen i el arreglo m gusta mas que cn el tono de talktalk

pro las dos son incres !

  • Awesome video edit!

  • wow, psychobabe killsall her men just like a black widow,,,,,,,,,,,,at least shes fabulous in the process!!!!!

  • No Doubts SUCKS. Talk talk is much better.

  • I love new wave and No Doubt Win Win.

  • They are both pretty good, but the original is a bit better. I have to give Gwen some credit because 90% of remakes suck and hers didn't.

It is amazing how well they match. I assume she sang the song listening to the original. The way we do in our cars.

  • Talk Talk! Both are great, but Talk Talk's version is THE FIRST AND THE ONE :D I love 80's!!!

  • 80's rule!!!! Talk Talk was kick ass and Gwen is just beautiful...GR8 job

  • I never got the point of the No Doubt version - why make it so similar? Can't touch the original anyway.....

  • I love both versions of the song

  • Thats the best way yet I've seen to stick wall paper to wall - HAMMER IT IN !!!

  • This is the only way I could enjoy this video... ORIGINAL version is miles and miles better!

  • the original

  • i like no doubt's version

  • very unique and original! Tough job to synch correctly- I enjoyed very much!

  • gwen's version makes me ill. lacks the legitimate passion and depth the original has.

  • And oh yeah, Talk Talk were a much needed shot in the arm for MTV at the time.

  • Gwen, and her backup band, No Doubt (hehe), are totally in a class by themselves. Unique, Strong, Sexy. Quite Remarkable! <3

  • @acfg59 No Doubt is a full band not Gwens back up

  • I`m sorry, but I like the "No Doubt"-version better.

But maybe, they`re to close to call, what makes it one of the best cover-versions ever

  • i LOVE this ... the reason i love the remake so much is because gwen stayed so true to the original. love gwen and love the 80's.

  • great song and video. I don't see why people would consider bashing Talk Talk though. It's obvious No Doubt have alot of respect for them if they're gonna cover one of their songs right?

  • i like both versions but i prefer the older one

  • Talk Talk is much better. The video is better too. Gwen does a decent job in the remake but come on lets get real, Talk Talk has the heart to go with it.

  • Awesome video!! And lyrics!!

  • i fucken love talk talk! take me back to being a kid in the 80s!

  • This is a great seamless video using the vocals from Talk talk to No Doubts video. Talk Talk's version is much better but this is a great job in itself.

  • I prefer talk talk!

  • gwens version is an abomination of a true classic... the original is such a beautiful song.

  • @adegamisoumounopano I wouldn,t say that. I like both versions.

I prefer No Doubt's version though , and I'm an 80's music fan so go figure.

  • Talk Talk is better the original always is better. No doubt is a horrible version

  • TALK TALK FOREVER!!!!!

  • Talk Talk is much better. "its my life" is a very uplifting melody. This song, as well as other songs from the 80's, should be preserved as the way it was produced. exactly as it was produced.

  • The No Doubt version is pretty good, but its exactly the same as the talk talk version except with some modern frills and a girl singing it. So the Talk Talk version wins because its the original and generally better because Mark Hollis is awesome.

  • No Doubt's version is better. Don't get me wrong, I love Talk Talk's version. The singer in Talk Talk's version sings like getting a boner: it's desirable but it should come down some time. Gwen sings the song more consistantly and it's one of the remakes I actually enjoy more than the original.

  • how do i know that its only just come out!!!!!!!! i'm old (52) but not an old fart and music plays a big part in my life, but todays songs are RAP (because they cant sing) or cover versions because they cant write!!!!!!! ........ and my point........ if you was about when the original version came out its very rare that the cover would be better........ TALK TALK much better

  • @eggybread100 That sounded so ignorant. You should really listen to some newer music.

  • @eggybread100 Good point mate...100% with you on this...

  • gwen can sing it better

  • its no doubt that more ppl prefer talk talk's version :p

  • No Doubts version is waaaaaaaaaay better! This guys version gets annoying real quick... it sounds like he recorded this on the toilet or something...

  • I prefer Talk talk

    80s 4ever!!!

  • Everyone rips on this song. But if it was'nt for this song we would not have this hot video with Gwen.

  • Talk Talk's version is much better.

  • The cover isn't bad, but the original is way better. The video is total crap though.

"talk talks sound like an old man with a studder trying to sing"

Boy, some people are deaf morons.

  • I hate to admit it, but gwen absolutely nails this track and I dont really like her that much. Im a Korn, Tool, Garbage, Perfect circle kind of music fan so when a guy who likes that kind of music digs her cut.....she is really talented. Vid aint so good though and her lyp sync actually matches Talk Talk's version. To funny

  • at least gs listen to some of the best bands ever. / ;maybe this will make deaf kids today to go back and dig for decent music not this overproduced/with small exceptions/ shit we are bombarded with those days

  • Also Nither were Number 1 lol

  • Both versions (the original and the modern) are excelent. Neither one is better than other, are different ..... the whole is bigger than the sum of the parts.

  • This version is the original one that was released by Talk, Talk. The version that Talk, talk that was released before had more meaning compared to No Doubt's version....

  • This is also one of the few videos directed by famous photographer David LaChapelle. If you've ever seen that man's photography - he's a eccentric, creative artistic genius.

  • people who love the GS version didn't heard the original version.

I'm not against "covers" (listen to wonderfull ones of Joe Cocker) but the GS is bullshit, because it's the same than the orginal, that was perfect.

  • I didn't realize their was an original version until I heard it playing in my warehouse..Now I can see how much of a biter Gwen Stefani is, not so original afterall.

  • TALK TALK all the way!!

  • talk talk will always be better, good comment and true

  • Thank you so much for putting this video together! I've always been a massive No Doubt fan but I had no idea this was a cover! I may be biased here, but I prefer No Doubt's version, even though the original is so similar, it's essentially identical but it sounds very 80's, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just different.

  • Talk Talk did the original video and song in 1984, when MTV, really meant, "Music Television" and was GOOD back then, which is a really beautiful video for cinematography and the great camera shots long range and overhead in planes and helicopters for nature-animal shots..See the original video too! Thanks for showing this, amazing sync, or as a joke, good lip-sync ;-)

  • Yeah, Talk Talk had the best version that's for sure. No Doubt did ok on the remake but ....

  • lol eee that was creepy to watch hehe

  • The best music was the 80's

  • The 60's - 70's and 80's gave us GREAT MUSIC! - Scary to think which way we r headed! -

  • the 60's - 70's and 80's gave us numerous bands almost DAILY - what do we have today ? Its like bands r gone ! - I thought i missed the boat being born in 1964 - I thought the 60's was it - the 60's were great - but the 70's and 80's brought us some great bands too! - In the past rca-capital would take a chance on a new singer,group..those fays ARE gone..NOW you have to be POLISHED Gold be4 they even give you a meeting to discuss your future with them- Scary to think which way music is going!

  • Totally mate!!!

  • lol thts funny!

  • I love this! creative. I dont think one is better than the other..and possibly those who dont like the original version were not of age in the early 1980s...that was the popular sound then. Decades apart and still great sounding by both groups.

  • The version by Talk Talk rocks

  • Totally agree also ...TALK TALK ...i loved their music

  • This is great, it really works, the best of two great versions! Shame about the amount of "I like this, the other version is crap" complete and utter Fwit morons who plague just about everything on here.

  • Completely agree on that.

  • Im glad he put in the Talk Talk version!! ITS WAAAAYY BETTER!!!

  • good comparison!

  • Talk Talk obviously did it better. That being said, the Stefani version does rock and do it justice. But it's like pokin a blow up doll, it just isn't like the real thing

  • NO DOUBTS IS WAY BETTER! talk talks sound like an old man with a studder trying to sing....id rather listen to heidi montage! haha

  • agreed. no doubt RULES

  • @bender3731 - NO DOUBT Loved this song - thats y they asked him if they could sing it!

  • And tell if No Doubt is way better, where did they get the original song huh? Of course, its from Talk, Talk. Please get your facts straight before saying anything else!!!

  • @bender3731

Now this is close to blasphemy! Mark Hollis' voice is sublime, and so is his songwriting!

I admit that No Doubt's cover isn't that bad, after all, but it captures the intensity of the original only partially. Of course, Gwen Stefani has quite an impressive voice, but her 'easy tragic' attitude gets on my nerves.

  • @bender3731 Shakes head...in 20 years you'll regret that statement...you are probably a Lady Gaga fan..

  • The Reason I Say Under 35 Because That's About The Limit Of The end of Amazing Independent Talent!!!

All Corporate Nowadaze Even If They Use The Word..,

    "Independent!!!"

Even Mohawks Are More Popular Now.., Then Back In The Day!!!!

    YAWN!

  • I Bet The Person That Posted This Is More Than Likely UNDER 35 YearsOld!!!

    Why Would You Compare!???

    Both Are Great/Good Versions!

But You Never Can Compare ORIGINAL From a Cover!

"It Talk ALOT To make Something From Nuthin!"

NOT AS MUCH Talent To Take Something Old A ADD To It Or Better It!!!!

  • Both versions are really really good. Heard it in the 80s and was always sure that it would last for a very long time!

  • Haaa. In the parts where Gwen is supposed to be singing it looks like she's a transvestite.

  • Yeah Gwen's verison was way to cryie and talk talk is more haunting.

  • Both versions are awesome! Loved it in the 80's & love the No Doubt version! Great job on the mix! =)

  • I think, Talk talk is better. The original is almost always better anyway...

  • Hey, this is great! I always liked the original song better, but this video is cool - well done!

  • No Doubt about it,Gwen's version is suck...

  • Talk Talk's video was about freedom, "It's my life, don't you forget" and No Doubts video is about murdering people and getting caught? I don't get it.

  • TekLok,It does'nt matter. What I know and knew as soon as I started looking at this video is like they have written here.I'll even go alittle further, its like she sang it along with the group/haha impossible. The rest of the video info is suppose to be a joke is what I think the big secret is, its props.Nobody did anything TekLok.

  • What are you talking about and why did you down vote my comment? So basically you are agreeing with me by saying that this video is a joke? lol wtf

  • TekLok,I did'nt vote down your comment. You don't know who did that is my thinking.I'll do that trick if prevails with Linda.Find your own partner. There, the trap is set.Funny how I find myself in love with you Linda...""""She does'nt want me to do vote down.I hope woops does'nt happen,a mistake."Its my life" you understand.I did'nt do it TekLok.

  • cool vid?

  • good idea --good job

  • okay who cares if she re-made the song alot of rappers, singers do nowadays lol. i dont why people are making such a big deal. i like gwens better but i dont know i like the song lol. good video!

  • I don't dislike Gwen Stefani but I really wish she would have left this song alone.

  • @calnuk definitively

  • The '80s was dominated by school-trained, note-on-staff, keyboard-based bands and disco producers. The "pure" rockers may have loathed it, but the songwriting and general creativity of the era may never be matched now that our culture is taking a dive.

  • the only reason why people dis the 80's is because the didn't get the full experience like we did

  • I loved everything 80's, but I'd say I like Gwen's version more.

  • i do too lol

  • I love both songs, i really think no doubt did a great job... And this video is hilarious

  • goood, lola t 1st i saw qwen stefani and the blokes voice lol :D

  • great job lip match when singing good job.

  • gwen may have the body but talk talk has the voice

  • lol

  • she is a looker for sure...

only good thing really is the royalty payments to mark and talk talk.

  • she has a very masculine voice!! shocking, she looks so feminine 2

  • Talk Talk was way better anyways! No Doubt are okay but their cover was lame in comparison to the original!!!!!

  • England rules in music

  • i prefer nodoubt, but the talk talk ain´t bad ^.^..it must be that imused to gwens stefanis versionthat ilike it more than the original version.

  • good job!

  • this is music : )

  • This is my same complaint about rap. It's so unoriginal. I am willing to bet at leat 60 percent of the hits in the 1990s and 2000s were just remakes of music from the 1980s. This is especially true of rap and pop music.

The only thing you need to make music today is to be a beautiful women, have no talent, and have an 80s record collection you can crib from

  • Not really, and this is definitely true for ambient and techno today which can have complex rhythms like those used in classical music.

And some hip hop has beat, I like some 80s music, don't get me wrong, but dissin on the 90s and 00s ain't good, many many great musical openings.

BTW listen to Immortal Technique, Sphongle, Simon Patterson, or Tiesto.

  • I am not a huge 80s fan, the point I was making is that Rap and Pop music in the 1990s and 2000s is unoriginal. Almost all of it is rip offs of older hits. Some are even blasphemous like Kid Rock merging Sweet Home Alabama and Werewolves of London. There is a lot of music in the 1990s I like, less in the 2000s. I am not big on techno, but will concede it is far more creative and original that rap or pop music. Sure rap has a beat, but that is one of the easier aspects of music making.

  • @Monty1994

    Sooo true

  • this video is a bit unfair to Gwen - Talk Talk's song is great, but so is No Doubt's cover; if anything I like Gwen's take a little better.

  • NO DOUBT IS WAY BETTA!!

  • the remake was done by the right band for sure

  • No comparison, Talk Talk's original version is miles better!

  • whoa....., thats.........whoa.

  • k creepy

  • I was about grade school in the 80s and middle school/high school in the 90s.

    I remember both versions.

90s version is better. rap/R&B/ rock was great in the 90s. That was an awesome fuckin decade!!!!

    80s were depressing, lol.

    JMO.

  • This is such an excellent video. So cool to hear his excellent voice to her excellent face. Funny. Nice. Couldn't rip my eyes from it.

  • I was upset that they were doing this cover, even though they never even heard of the song. But not a bad cover. Just found out it was between It's My Life and INXS Don't Change...that would have killed me.

  • They're both good, but no doubt's is much more modern. I also think this song sounds better on a
