It's one of those moments where Donna is more rational in composure and she decides that it's time to move on. Just what he Doctor needed sometimes. Donna was so brilliant and I miss her IMMENSELY!
I think the doctor learned a lot from Donna, especially being the 10th regeneration. I think it was good for him that there was somebody who really supported him and loved him very naturally, like a brother. Also - somebody who didn't always agreed with him or admired him blindly. Not that I didn't liked Rose or Martha, but Donna is... different. (I'm still watching season 4, so spoil me and you will be exterminated, of course.)
@Gemeni3insane I do know that, haha. But, you know... for example, I still don't know the truth about River Song and all, and I want to find out myself.
I think Donna was by far the best companion the Doctor has had. She brought out the best in him, and chastised him (gently) when he messed up. They always did have the best relationship, imo.
lol i love how it looks when he moves things on the TARDIS when there's no sound.... like he's really just making it all up and its not just my imagination ;)
@windmagelita Oh my friend you are in for a treat (of course if you have just finished watching the 10th doctor you will be mourning him for a while...
Those noises the TARDIS REALLY makes are as good as the ones on the show. If I met the Doctor in real life, I'd be ok if the TARDIS sounded like that!
Touching someone's heart is a very emotional and sweet gesture, it just sort of looks off when the character is suppost to have two. :/ Still sweet, just.... off.
the real reason this scene was cut is that RTD felt that Donna Noble was upstaging the past companions waaaay too much! she is seriously the best companion the doctor has had!
Okay, this was a really beautiful scene, so it makes me a bit sad they didn't add it into the episode...of course it might have dragged a bit. but they could have tacked it onto the Unicorn and the Wasp at the beginning, just for kicks.
Okay, now that I've said that...am I the only girl who thinks Catherine Tate is one lucky woman? ...she put her hands on David's chest... ;D
Idea: Jenny hears the stories about the Doctor (and Time Lords, maybe) along with information about the TARDIS. She learns how to find it. Not truly knowing what it means for a Time Lord to regenerate (she was healed, but not changed), she finds the TARDIS. Amy asks who she is, Jenny says she is looking for her dad. Enter Doctor 11, who now has to explain this is his daughter that doesn't recognize him... Cliffhanger ending. Just an idea...
@TheLdyDrake And is that idea up to being realized in a fanfic of some sort? Cause if not... I volunteer! (I'm afraid I only can write German, or let's say I'm not that good in English...)
@Sejabonga Quite honestly, I never seem to have the time to finish any fics I start. So really I would give this idea to Moffat himself. See what he would do with it. And it would bring Georgia back for a bit.
Oh sorry, I missed that he was upset about the loss of his daughter--not a companion. That makes this even more powerful. It should have been left in for sure. No one plays a tortured soul better than David Tennant.. I feel so sorry for the Doctor here. I wonder why they never brought his daughter back for another episode. Well, maybe they'll bring her back with Matt Smith as the doc.
@d2majzoub Well, since Stephen Moffat, now in charge, was the one who originally argued for Jenny to be revived at the end of the episode, I'd say it was a pretty sure bet that we'll see her again... someday...
Usually I totally agree with the scenes they cut, but not this time. This scene is so raw and beautifully acted on both David and Catherine's parts, I think it should have been left in. The episode would have been better its being there. If nothing else, it fully shows the depth of the Doctor's feelings for his companions. It makes him that much more human---for a martian boy.
You won't! Mwahaha....Oh god, I just made myself sad :'(
Wish they'd kept this in. I don't think it's depressing, it's nice to see that even though he's lost someone, he's got his best friend there for him. xx
This was the PERFECT scene, I cannot even fathom the reason they took it out. I loved this episode but this was needed to convey the Doc's pain about losing Jenny more, this scene would have hit it spot on.
they should have kept this scene -.- I think it was perfect, and at least someone said that the doctor did right and not just let him suffer alone.. why did they not use ittt T_T xD (although I know why but technically i think this is not sad but uplifting cause donna said that)
I'm sick of people saying they're so glad RTD is gone. Yes, his writing was maybe too emotional and portrayed the Doctor to be too caring, BUT alot of my favorite episodes were the ones he wrote. I'll admit I like Steven Moffat's writing much more as far as the intricate story lines are concerned, but Russel was still an essential part of the revival to Doctor Who and I think he deserves a bit more respect.
I think this was a good scene to show how much Donna cares about him, but they could have done without her grabbing his boobs. That was a little strange-looking.
Does anyone know what happened to the deleted scene where Jenny's death scene was extended and she asks about the breath of life story and whether the reason She sighed was because of disappointment and the doctor says, 'No.. it was never disappointment'. That scene made me cry and should've been put in the original episode.
