  • Nice cursive italic! It seems pretty smooth!

  • Does filling a pen always make your hands so ink covered?

  • @Qstick333 Haha, no that's just me. Filling a pen can be perfectly clean. My hands are just inky from grinding nibs... :)

  • @triplesevenpenrepair Gotcha. I am considering the 540 when it gets released as my first non cartridge pen and am a bit worried about the mess.

  • @Qstick333 Yea, I'm a bit of a mess. :) My hands are inky every day, but it's just part of my job, and my personality.

I'd say go for it! I'm not a fan of c/c fillers, and I think you may become a convert after trying your first piston-filler. They're a lot easier to clean, and they hold about 2-3x more ink!

  • @Qstick333 Forgot to add - I wouldn't worry about the mess. It may just be me, but I get more inky filling a converter than I do a piston filler. :)

As long as you take your time, and be careful, you should be about 99% mess free...

  • @triplesevenpenrepair Sounds good - thanks! I just have a Scheaffer 444 at the moment and have been using a new cartridge each time, I haven't attempted to refill one yet. I def. prefer to keep things tidy if possible. I'm excited to try something new, although there are certainly a LOT of choices out there.
