I do give credit to russia's military. russia my have numbers but how much of their forces are combat ready. Mainly meaning their aircraft. Don't get me wrong russia's equipment is very ruggeded, but you have to have the money to maintain that equipment. Which is something I think we are now facing and that's what Russia went throught during the fall of the Iron Curtan.

Any SAM can shot down a stealth aircraft if it is close enough. The SAM site shot it down at only 13 km away using a moified radar with infred camera.

stealth doesn't matter satillites(some) have these laser imaging, forgot what its called, but i bounces off the target. if the there is no response, there's is deffinatly an aircraft or missle in that area. plus i used to use the PMS pac2 in korea. so i know this~~~~~~~~~~~HUGE WAR JUNKIE~~~~~~~~

One of disadvantages of "Patriot" to Russian AA systems is that rockets on S-300(400) launches in vertical position,what allows em to react MUCH faster on target in different ways. Also Russian systems are much faster prepare in battle position.

the disadvantage is that patriot system can just look in one direction - thatfore the angle doesnt matter since the launchers "look" in the same direction as the radar ...

the prob is that its blind to the behind while the russian one works all around ...

also you can put more than one patriot-group in a circle so they cover each other or when youre just expecting planes from the "front" the blindness to the behind doesnt matter so much. Like all weapons is has weaknesses - but its still famous cause it was the first system that could shoot other missiles.

@rEEZEErB Because they are much more likely to be targeted. And with over 1,000 Patriot systems, it isn't necessary.

But consider this: these mobile Russian systems will be so easy to detect. They are driving in a massive convoy with fuel trucks, launchers, radar systems, command vehicles, trucks with reloads, & security vehicles. It would be like a train.

And having it in a vertical position changes the reaction time by about 1-2 seconds. Which isn't a big deal at all.
