  • We are way behind in Ireland, the company installing the digital backbone have quit, and added at least a year. I can't wait to see what our govn't puts out to instruct the masses.

  • i like this guy, he tells it like it is

  • Oh look!!! Mom of Steve!!! She seems like fun!

  • That she is!

  • LOL... you sound just like my hubby. :)

  • yea lets give the money to a crazed narssecist

  • Steve...don't you know that anything that has to do with a Common Sense decision is not allowed anywhere near Washington?

Hell, if it were up to me you could have my part of the tax money towards it. Oh, and say hi to Mom for me.

    Bufford

  • Digital TV coming in 2010 here! YAY!

Are you calling your mum dumb? BAD STEVE!!

    But yeah, simple like that!

  • Never! She's not technical... so if she can get it... then anyone can!

  • Hi Steve! Hi Steve's mom. If I hear one more PSA for DTV, I'm gonna SCREAM! I'm ready and if by some strange coincidence I'm not, No great loss, I'll just listen to radio. lol One question: Who did WE stimulate, oops, I mean, bail out with this boondoggle? foreign tv makers. hmmm

  • hrmmmmmmmmmm

  • hi mom, you have a great son..quiranger.. just go into politics already!!!!!! geeese..xxx

  • LOL - I NEVER WANT TO GET INTO POLITICS!!!!!!!

hope you you girls are doing well!

  • HI MOM!

    :-)

And, wow, I don't think I've seen you do a rant before. Nice job!

  • Oh... Wait....

  • Hi Steve's mum :)

  • hey sammi!

  • Imagine the govt. spending money frivolously.

  • It would be great to see them do something right for a change!

  • it seems like a lot of people have brain issues that or they dont like thinking

  • Very true.

  • Here's the deal. I have a 1981 VCR (no joke - it has knobs instead of buttons) and I used that with rabbit ears to watch Obama's inauguration on my PC because the VCR is connected to the my TV capture card. So I propose that I be sent more money to further educate me since I'm still lagging behind : )

Great video, loved the interaction and the message.

  • I love those. Is your machine a top loader? We had an RCA top loading VCR with cabled 'remote' to pause TV recording.

  • Yes a top loader!

Mine is missing the remote and I had never seen one until recently when I purchased a camcorder from 1985 and it had a cabled remote with only pause :)

In fact, if you allow, I'll temporarily post a response to this that shows the VCR. Glad to know someone other than me remembers them!

  • i have no idea what the difference is between a web address and a url - also great demonstration!!

  • ha ha ha HI MOM kool she looks to young to be ur mom man or is it u look to old lol peace ranger :)

  • LOL

  • I feel you are holding back, please tell me how you really feel..

As for the rabbit ears. I don't fully understand what to do. Do I shove the rabbits tail into the cable? I have an old rabbits foot, how do I use that? Do I still need to feed the rabbit? Do I need the whole rabbit, or can I just cut off the ears and use them? Does PETA or Animal Planet have any problems with these things you want to attach to the rabbits ears?

  • ;-)

  • I know!! after all those countdowns and hundreds of commercials and stuff.... anyways... Hi Steve's Mom!!!!

  • Hi!

  • Hi Steve's mom!!!!!

  • Hello back!

  • The same thing happened here lol.

    YASHRN!

  • Yup!

  • I think mom was laughing at you rather than with you.

  • It wouldn't be the first.

  • I wouldn't know about that. She's your mom I was just joking. It's true that it is not rocket science like it's being portrayed but It also seemed like you dissed mom a little there. I mom can figure it out anyone can. It's a good thing she has a sence of humor. My mom would smack me for that and I'm no child. I'm betting I'm a lot older than you.

  • Nah. Just that if someone with no technical experience can get it in 10 seconds, the rest of the US should as well. Mom is thrilled to have several tech gurus in the family.

  • Mom's adorable! She must have oodles of patience with a kid like you ;)

    Good vid as usual.

  • She will be the first to tell you that I was a golden child.

  • Oh you guys are sooo cute. I'm about to forward this to my folks as well. Sounds pretty simple huh?

  • It is!

  • mom seems nice

  • That she is!

  • when did you ever think congress was ever smart or frugal?

  • They day they make me benevolent dictator of the universe, I'd say it would be a start.

  • I love your mom's energy....great smile.

  • She's a great lady.

  • Yes, but....Isn't cable going to charging an extra $5/TV to rent the digital-to-analog receiver plus about $60 for installation? No matter what we do, cable will find a way to rip us off.

  • Cable will always rip you off. That's why I use it for the Internet and then watch 'tv' on the net with fewer commercials.

  • After I bought my flatscreen full HD TV in the end of 2005, I was devastated about the all of a sudden obvious lousy quality of regular TV broadcast here in Germany. Developments to the better go painfully slow over here "in ye olde country", too. I almost exclusively only watch DVDs and BluRays now.

... and I am positively thrilled about your approach here to bring some light onto darkened heads :-)))! Kudos to you for having such a nice and sweet and supportive and funny Mum; hi there :-)!

  • I know what you mean. I got my first HD set back in 2001. That alone was enough to make me stop watching TV.

  • Maybe some people aren't switching over because they couldn't care less about watching T.V. We have T.V.s in the house but unless we're watching a movie or playing game they never come on. I think Network TV just can't believe that many of us just don't give a rat's ass about their programming.

  • I haven't watch a show 'on tv' in 2 years. I catch everything from their network net feeds.

  • I am so annoyed that it was delayed for the upteenth time. The 2008 conversion was a delayed switch itself as well. But since only 96% of the people in the US are ready for it, they had to delay it.

Oh, and you only need a converter box if your TV does not have a built in converter. If you have bought a TV in the last 5 years, it will have a digital tuner. If it didn't, then you had to physically sign a document stating that "I know this TV won't work when the conversion happens".

  • For sure!

  • i thought they were delaying it becuz there weren't enuf converter boxes available. but, whatever, why does it have to be done anyway? srsly, i have cable and i don't care, but i think there is a certain pt in ppls lives where they quit with tech. my grandmother was a very smart woman but had no use for things that came after the 50s..she kept lightbulbs in her dishwasher, it was just another cabinet to her :)

  • LOL

  • lol. omg your poor mom. but yeah its pretty simple

  • LOL

  • Awesome debut by your mom!!! <3

  • Thanks daring!

  • Don't worry Steve...

You won't need it at Hamilton Island...

    He he!

  • I don't watch TV to begin with. There are some shows I watch, but everything I see is on the net.

  • I'm like that as well. In fact I gave up my cable service 6yrs ago and only watch DVDs If I watch anything on the TV.

  • Your mom is adorable. They'll be people out there that don't get it trust me.

  • I know... They just complain.

  • Yes but that isn't what I meant. What I meant was their will be people out there that will dismiss those ads the whole time they run on tv and then when their tv gets cut off they will say what happened?

  • Yes... and they'll deserve it.

  • Your mom looks sweet. =) My mom gets cable too so I know she will be okay but she doesn't understand about the internet either. =)

    - Heidi

  • ;-)

  • I was expecting it this week! It's not hard! Get cable! Or at least that's what I have, because according to my cable company that's all I need for my TV.

  • Or as many are doing... getting rid of cable and TV and watching everything on the Internet.

  • HAHAHA!!! I know, when I saw that on TV I was like WTF!!!!

  • Totally!
