I know this has been asked a lot, but is there any update to the question, is there an online stream somewhere on the world wide web of this documentary? I tried finding some but all have been deleted or whatever.... sucks...
I've been wanting to see this movie for 10 years and cannot find it anywhere. It's been in my Netflix queue for 2 years, and I have yet to see it at a video store. And it's on amazon and ebay for $85+. If anybody finds it streaming online (it was on googlevideo, but I missed it), please let me know. Thank you.
I saw this movie, it's opening night at a large cineplex in Texas.
I have owned it on VHS and DVD. Truly a spectacular film.. You just have to watch it to understand. I have let some of my better friends watch it with me - they leave afterwards changed FOREVER.
I think one of my questions, having seen it and really thinking it a great piece, has to do with: when most people come out after seeing it, do they do so with an appreciation of these people and their lives and struggles, or is more of a ridicule type situation?
Do you see yourself or friends or family (who you respect) in this documentary?
Is it an affirmation or an exploitation? Just an entertainment?
I think a lot of people would find it a strange way of life, for sure. I'm Texas by birth (and proud of it) but I live in Canada now. My husband (who is Canadian) and his friends that have seen the film are critical and don't really get it.
About seeing people I respect in the documentary - well, sure. I know a lot of down-home types who are country bumpkins. :) and they have a good life.
Entertainment - It shows how important a 13k$ nissan truck is to people in a small town.
I downloaded that torrent and had to get a new computer. It wiped out absolutely everything. And it did so before I could watch the movie. :( I guess someone up there just doesn't want me to see this film.
I downloaded a torrent of this film and it worked well. Unfortunately, sometimes people are jerks on the internet. You gotta run a virus scanner, peerguardian 2, and use good sense about files if you're downloading torrents or anything else.
Thanks. I'd downloaded stuff from the same site before without a problem so I guess I just got spolied (and careless). I truly have been waiting over 10 years to see this movie. Perhaps I will take the torrent route but run a virus scanner this time!
I also saw it at the Dobie with a friend. Loved it so much that we had to see it again with a bigger group. It would be great to see a "where are they now" kind of thing.
I saw it at the Dobie too - almost 10 years ago. I think I saw it like 3 times with different people because it was so great - I've never laughed so hard...
